"The basis of “Walls” was programmed in about 15 minutes the morning of Performance Five when we opened for Blonde Redhead in Pomona. I danced and did abstract vocal effects that night, but when we recorded it I wrote a proper vocal (literally written while the drum machine was going to tape). This song journeys from the past to the future and back." -John Frusciante
I've never seen John like that. So intense wow. he looks like he's in an other dimension, it makes me so happy to see how much he's having fun with his music. God I'd kill to be in that show.
Blown away daily by Frusciante's passion and talent. This song is almost an homage to early 2000's Radiohead and i don't mean that negatively. Good man there, Frusciante
Eu iria muito num show desse, nossa senhora kkkkkkkk muito bom!!! Por favor, espero que eles voltem a produzir música juntos ou que pelo menos revisitem as antigas e façam uns shows por aí!
ladies ladies calm yourselves.. this is an amazing video after all.. whoever put this up, mad kudos, thank you so much. How do people find out about these shows!!? AGHHGGHGHG you lucky bastards!
Half of them were probably there expecting something RHCP-esque. I've got aduio of all the "Performance #" shows, and you often hear the crowd members complaining about the amazing music. Some people just don't want to understand.
Frusciante's almost got the Thom Yorke jig-between-vocals thing down. lol. Too bad he's declined to participate in the Hall of Fame induction ceremony with the Chili Peppers. He was such a vital part of their history, and arguably the biggest reason the band skyrocketed to the next level with BSSM.
okay i understood when people were just chilling at first, but when that guitar line comes in!!!! no way... i couldn't keep still in my computer chair how could you when the music is blaring at the show. damn. show some energy people!!
@andruktn SO TRUE! I hate when people worship his image or anyone else for that matter. John himself hates being put on a pedestal. We are all human, with the ability to tap into amazing imaginations and creativity that comes out in the form of beautiful sounds. Music is not created by people. Music all ready exists, we just are able to arrange the sounds together and form something beautiful.
haha dude the first thing i heard john doing outside of the chili peppers was like enter uh from smile from the streets you hold. holy shit.... but in saying that its some of my favourite stuff, and i think niandra lades and usually just a t-shirt is his best album along with the empyrean which would have to be a tie between the two (this also happens to be johns opinion, which i only just found out)
ahh that would be really cool. I really respect them...I rarely get to see a band I really respect, Im way into that experimental side of music. u never see that stuff live! thx 4 the heads up on the album. :P
I've searched the internet about this video, and some people think John is using the Korg Kaoss Pad for those vocal effects (that loop/delay/pitch stuff) but than people say that box you see him using is too big to be a Kaoss Pad... Regardless of what he is using, can someone confirm for me that stuff like this is possible with the Kaoss Pad? I'm thinking of buying one!
@andruktn JF "just" playing his song IS brilliance. He is a public figure who creates so much energy when he plays, its inspirational almost religious, not in the traditional sense but you respect and ar enveloped by his movements, his attitude, the feelings he puts forth when playing his music. BRILLIANCE. T
this is the first video I've ever seen of John where he looks even remotely out of shape. I think it is the belt and tucked in shirt. This video is amazing.
Tanner Gariepy he's plugging it into the synth and messing with the knobs. but on Niandra Lades John just recorded the tape and fast forwarded it and had other tracks with heavy distortion that he faded in and out for that choppy kind of feel towards the end
@icps86 any synth sustain knob would do, also modulation on dry and distortion to some point i guess. delay also, as well and pitch changers and tempo accelerators, high pass filters and cutoffs. but by the moves of his hand, it seems like he's using a sensitive pad to mix all these, which is pretty much more accesible and helpful.
I don't want this crowd to make noise over this wonderful piece, I just wanna see them fuckin' move. I'd be all over the place if this song was being played in front of my face.
by god he's a shaman performing musical voodoo! the same mystical principle applies from the time of the ancients: contacting god. which an artist like him is doing all the time, through whichever means you can give him. he stays in perfect contact with his right brain by turning everything into a vehicle of expression. beautiful example to the rest of us to modify the ins and outs of our bodies creatively. there can not be enough testament to this approach to life, its quintessential to us.
Hey everyone, I've moved house and I'm having trouble with my internet provider connecting me, so hopefully shouldn't be too much longer. I'm online at work at the moment. I might upload them here if things take too much longer at my place. Good to see lots of interest in the recordings :) Catch.
@zimonslot so because you feel their dancing is "spastic" they are pretentious douchebags? does that really add up? are they trying to be anyone else besides themselves? are they looking for praise and approval by being in the spot light? no, they're just doing what they love. I'm sure your dancing is the pinnacle of elegance.
@Sypher474 yeah.. well i understand about being disappointed when the performance is much different than you thought it would be, but you gotta go with it. i went to a Yann Tiersen concert this year and was expecting to hear stuff from Amelie and that type of thing, but it was this spaced out post-rock thing sort of like Sigur Ros or something. anyway it was NOT what i expected totally the opposite and i was disappointed at first but it was also very cool and you gotta try and appreciate it
Makes me sad to think that these two are no longer friends.. I mean, they were such a Fantastic duo
Ego.
I bet the day will come where they do more music together! They make a perfect fit.

@@nickandthecrisis notes JF released on his website for his albums in 2004
I am insanely jealous of the people that got to experience this masterpiece of a performance.
is it just me who loves john dancing style ?
I'm convinced he's stolen my dance moves and then mastered them! Just kinda flailing about with the leg thing. I was famous for my leg thing! 🤣🤣🤣

I've never seen John like that. So intense wow. he looks like he's in an other dimension, it makes me so happy to see how much he's having fun with his music. God I'd kill to be in that show.

I can never tell what the fuck josh is saying ever. I love his voice tho so it's okay
Blown away daily by Frusciante's passion and talent. This song is almost an homage to early 2000's Radiohead and i don't mean that negatively. Good man there, Frusciante
It's sad to see that no one in the crowd was moving at all maybe it's just me but I danced right along
I think they are worshipping or in awe of the two musical gods.

I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. and this song is AMAZING!!!!!
If John ever did something bad, I know it would be for the right reasons. He's my friends, a living legend.
ladies ladies calm yourselves.. this is an amazing video after all.. whoever put this up, mad kudos, thank you so much. How do people find out about these shows!!? AGHHGGHGHG you lucky bastards!
this is nutz im a guitarist, frusciante is my idol... i love my electronic music like techno, never seen him in this light before, blown away!
Half of them were probably there expecting something RHCP-esque.
I've got aduio of all the "Performance #" shows, and you often hear the crowd members complaining about the amazing music.
Some people just don't want to understand.
just two genious musicians !
yea josh sings one song on each of ataxia's albums, the empty's response is something you should check out if you like his style of singing
I wanna see more !
John Frusciante dançando é meu tudo
Guarantee this is what they do in the recording studio when they're coming up with songs. Pretty cool stuff.
[he is jamming with the air and the walls[ahh- and johsh's conscious of coarse
3:09 this blair photo fit perfectly to this impro-omni-spiritual moment
Man, I tripped the fuck out watching him dance and that music.
Oh what a gem!
A gem of a video.
okay i understood when people were just chilling at first, but when that guitar line comes in!!!! no way... i couldn't keep still in my computer chair how could you when the music is blaring at the show. damn. show some energy people!!

@applebutter85 soooooooooooo fucking agree! Did not know this existed - fuckin cool - JOHN F and JOSH - that makes it all alright!!!!!
They aren't even dancing. That's the music taking control of their bodies so that everyone knows it's beauty can't be withheld.

haha he dances just like how he does with his guitar this is awesome :)
excellent, better this one than the studio version
Tjek out live versions of "Everything in it's right place" by Radiohead, they use the Kaoss Pad in a similar way.
ahh that would be really cool. I really respect them...I rarely get to see a band I really respect, Im way into that experimental side of music. u never see that stuff live! thx 4 the heads up on the album. :P

what is john using for his voice because he uses it on running away into you ad i really want that sound for my own reording
Tanner Gariepy he's plugging it into the synth and messing with the knobs.
but on Niandra Lades John just recorded the tape and fast forwarded it and had other tracks with heavy distortion that he faded in and out for that choppy kind of feel towards the end
J PrOvost I figured the delay was a given haha
J PrOvost true that lmao

John Frusciante is the best drug!

I think the air was climaxing at about 5:30-6:30.
Wait, no...from 0:00-9:53

Fuck Yes! Magic happening
he t is using a "MC-202", he has done his new album whit this
I'd pay money for SNL to do a skit of these two! LOL
i would kill for a better sound quality of this
If you want how would john dance in a party... Here is the answer
what is john using when he records his voice and makes it go crazy??
@Sypher474 yeah.. well i understand about being disappointed when the performance is much different than you thought it would be, but you gotta go with it. i went to a Yann Tiersen concert this year and was expecting to hear stuff from Amelie and that type of thing, but it was this spaced out post-rock thing sort of like Sigur Ros or something. anyway it was NOT what i expected totally the opposite and i was disappointed at first but it was also very cool and you gotta try and appreciate it
