I know you are joking, but is that actually accurate? I can think of many formats and environments where blue wasn't top dog. Even the first block (Ice age + Alliances + Homelands) in magic had black as the best color by a rather wide margin.
1:09:11 You could have Sealed for Emrakul -> draw and discard it off Bazaar -> Shallow Grave on Emmy and leave your opponent with no permanents at 3 life
While this clearly is the correct line (and LSV didn't find it for some reason), this would have played out very, very differently. Opponent can float mana, let the Emrakul sac triggers resolve, then play Wandering Emperor from the floated mana and exile attacking Emrakul before it deals any damage. We know they have Emperor because they played it EoT. So opponent would have had Emperor in play and I think this game is still very open, maybe with OP being slightly favored because of emperor in play
It doesn't get any better than LSV talking himself into an insane deck. Just finished the draft and this looks like an 0-3 deck that I'm sure he'll manage to win with.
The deck looks sick. I would've cut Doomsday, but everything else is amazing. He has the nut reanimated package. I've always said Crop Rotation is super underrated in cube. So he has 2 of the best combos and 4 tutors lol. Oh, and fastbond exploration to speed it all up.
@@Marksmaan 100%, the deck looks janky because of the doomsday, which is not good here, but everything else is really good. This many tutors with two ways to animate Emrakul and 3 ways to animate Etali is insane and I agree about Crop Rotation.
Pack three made the deck in so many ways. You had zero reanimation spells, no targets (just tutors and entomb), and then BOOM emerakal, animate dead, shallow grave, corpse dance, Etali, shawdowgrange, thespian stage!!! Such a fun and powerful deck, definitely an LSV classic!!!
There is a Buddhist practice of the benefits of finding joy in others happiness. This video will be a great resource for this practice. Etali Emmy twice is witnessing pure joy
I get so excited when you say "im just gunna go for it" really early in a draft. Its either fun because you get a great deck or because you rumplestiltsken some bs cards into a reasonable deck. It may not be the optimal draft strategy, but you are incredibly good at it. Thanks for the consistent vids!
holy SMOKES that has to be a world record etali, the value squeezed out of 1 mana setup then 2 mana spent on your turn is EXCEPTIONAL! Bravo, what a ripping sack
ok WOW i was talking about the first etali into emrakul/atraxa in the above comment, then i found out you did it twice, yeah ok, i wouldnt even mind losing to that, those were some of the most ridiculous turns ive ever seen
Amazing video and deck, one of the all-time most entertaining for sure. I will say that the last match seems like it was winnable. Your possible doomsday piles were better than you gave yourself credit for, I think. I would have liked to have seen you go for it in *M3G2* by tutoring Fastbond and casting a turn 2 doomsday with 4 lands in play. That just had to be the winning line, though I am not sure my IQ is high enough to know what the pile is supposed to be. (I then go look at the decklist and think for 10 minutes) Ok, I think this works. Let's say the pile is (in order from top to bottom) Bazaar, Etali, Shallow Grave, Emrakul, Corpse Dance, and you save one land in hand in addition to your Shadowgrange. You draw bazaar for the turn, then you tap it to draw Etali and Shallow Grave, discarding Shadowgrange, Etali, and the land. Make sure it's stacked so Etali is on top, cast Shallow Grave for Etali which casts Emrakul and something from the opponent. Attack for 7, then take your extra turn with Emrakul in play and then cast corpse dance on Shadowgrange, taking out a possible blocker and getting another attacker. It's not a 100% guaranteed win, but it seems very likely and better than simply tutoring up Bazaar. Did I miss something? You could even go Legolas Quick Reflexes instead of Corpse Dance if you're more worried about removal for Emrakul (like say a wandering emperor) or a flying blocker that somehow doesn't die to Shadowgrange.
Game three, the turn you where tanking. hers the line, get fast bond off the Vamp. play all your lands, cast doomsday. pass the turn. pile is besar, atalie, animate dead, emracule, whatever. Draw besar, discard atalie and 1 card, animate dead atalie into emracule attack for leather on the extra turn with 0 cards in deck.
Unfortunately wouldn't have been lethal against the 4/4 Boo Token, but yes, this probably is the line that Luis was looking for. Bazaar beeing the colourless Frantic Search in this situation is a good takeaway I believe. PS: Anticipating a Blocker and leaving Bitter Triumph to be drawn in the Extra Turn might have sealed the deal.
Was rooting for you when I watched you play Reid at Pro Tour (love him too) that was a great mirror. Congrats on eleven wins that gets you to come back!
Hey LSV, love the near daily cube videos. I always love to go back and rewatch some of the matches, I'd love to see you add in the "chapters" maybe to break up drafting and deck building and gameplay. Still great videos though thanks for the great content
As a big time cube drafter in paper I love myself some vintage cube and I do love these videos. That said the "slam combo decks into each other" being plan A in the draft under almost all circumstances isn't the cube experience I want to regularly have for myself lol Have you guys considered mixing it up with different cube formats? I've had a peasant cube for over a decade and I've tried to make it as deeply synergistic as possible. Things like Tortured existence comboing with containment construct or treasure cruise triggering konrad from its delve ability exiling creature cards, currently trying an adventure theme in GU/temur but so far I think its underperforming. I'd be super interested in seeing what your playgroup would put together for cubes with different restrictions or objectives.
99% of MTG players in your draft spot end up with a garbage deck. Etali was the herald of Emrakul, which helps, but you still ended up with a decent deck. Nice one. Doomsday also always just chillin in your hand was funny.
I've only just reached the end of the draft and this already reminds me of the classic video where you and Gaby drafted a storm deck that could only win with infinite mana into corpse dance Siege Gang.
Incredible video. We love to see it. When you vamped at 56:15. Does this Doomsday pile work: Bazaar of Baghdad Etali Animate Dead Emrakul Legolas's Quick Reflexes Draw Bazaar on Turn 3, tap it to and discard Etali, Dark Depths, Shadowgrange Archfiend Animate Etali to cast Emrakul and you still have 1 card to do the Emrakul attack on your extra turn.
This is what we want to see from the master shenanigans drafter. While I do appreciate the steady stream of new videos very much, the “I don’t need a win-con, I’ll just storm off and use a Siege-Gang Commander” lsv is pure magic. More storm and less midrange for the people ❤️
I'm glad he mentioned he went 11-5. Was watching his pro tour match against Reid and the hostes indicated he needed to get 10 wins to qualify next pro tour.
56:00 Vamp for Fastbond like you planned, but instead of Doomsday for Chromatic + Frantic, you get Bazaar. So you stack Bazaar, Etalli, Animate Dead, Emrakul, and maybe Legolas, play Bazar, draw and discard Etalli, 8/4, and the one land left in hand, Animate Dead, hit Emrakul, win next turn. Anyone else see a problem there?
Incredible deck, very fun to watch! I was hoping you would play rammunap with the bazaar and fastbond, similar to what you were almost gonna do with the yawg will. Btw, that Etali gifted to you with 3 other cards in the last pack increased the quality of the deck from a C+ to an A. Also a clutch thespian stage late in the last pack.
round3game2 I think you could have vamped for fastbond into doomsday with pile being chromatic star -> bazaar -> etali -> shallow grave -> emrakul for the win if you hold a land in hand on the doomsday turn
At first i thought janky junk pile after Oracle didn't wheel, then i thought damn LSV is cooking up something special today. Did not expect these results though.
M3G2 you could Vamp for Fastbond, untap, play Forest, Fastbond, Forest, Urborg, Depths, Doomsday. Get Manamorphose, Frantic Search, Stage, Reflexes, and anything else, then pass. On your turn you untap, draw Manamorphose, play Manamorphose for blue, Frantic Search to get Stage and Reflexes, make Marit Lage with Reflexes up, and pass back. You have 1 card in library, Marit Lage to block and Reflexes to protect it, and hopefully that's enough to win on your next turn. I think that's all correct, but I'm not that great at turn planning so someone let me know if there's something wrong there.
this was awesome. I do think bazaar is a bit of a trap, every time i see it used more than once the user just discards their hand to it then is too light on resources to win.
@@justinwendt3472 yeah it can be powerful but going down 2 cards and a land drop on its first activation is a huge commitment, and it gets worse from there on. using it twice gets you to 4 cards deep 3 cards lost for 2 mana. its rate is terrible compared to something like impulse. If you can get use out of the discarded cards then its super strong, otherwise it's a killer
I think you really need urborg and/or the green one to make it more reasonable. It’s such a huge cost losing a card on the bazaar plus a card on every tapping.
I think vanp for fastbond into doomsday works. You stack Bazar, Etali, Shallow, Emakul, corpse dance. Next turn Bazar, discard Etali, shallow grave it, hit Emrakul, take extra turn, and deal lethal
I think one of the most iconic LSV things on this channel is passing a combo piece for a generically good card with absolute confidence that it will come back & then when it doesn't making a way more entertaining pile of junk that somehow wins games.
Bro raw-dogging Emrakul off the top TWICE, and once with a bonus Atraxa is vomit inducing, and I'm absolutely here for it. This is why we play, folks. This right here.
Part of the bonus of playing 20 lands and tons of tutors that are effectively 2 cards for every one played, by the time Etali triggers, emerakal rawdogs happen a lot more often. The Atroxa one tho, that was epic lucksac action😂🤣🤣👍👍
“It’s a flexible pick, which I like when Tom’s passing to me, as he does his best to let me end up with a train wreck” *looks at title* Seems Tom won again today
Tom def messed up sending LSV that Etali with 3 cards left in the pack, especially knowing it’s likely LSV could be on reanimator after the entomb and all the pack 3 black reanimation cards he let through. LSV’s deck would be considerably worse without Etali I think, as it’s kinda perfect in the deck for many reasons.
This deck is what I think of when people say "Magic the way Richard Garfield intended." The Etali into Atroxa+Emrakul was a thing of sheer beauty.
What a stack of creatures, for the same player
My thoughts exactly. 😃
He can't keep getting away with it!
Honestly LSV's team puts together some nice thumbnails, but I wish that screenshot of the stack had been the preview this time.
Etali into the best 2 creatures to cast off her was pretty much insanity
You are taking extra turns with Time Walk, I am taking extra turns hitting Emrakul with Etali. We are not the same.
6m:35s “it’s just brutal, all the best cards are Blue!”
History of MtG, in a nutshell right there.
I know you are joking, but is that actually accurate?
