My track club track is an outdoor track. I had been struggling for nearly two seasons to get my car to work for me and I put this setup on it with a couple of little tweaks of my own on the front and man.... Absolutely changed everything. I was sort of competitive for the first time. Thanks for sharing this setup man.
Long time follower but just getting into RC recently, i was traveling visiting a friend in florida and happen to check this track out last week, very nice public facility, was my first experience on a race track lol
3 months late… lake park was my first! Lol. Just getting back into it and I was going to take my daughter there tomorrow, but they are doing maintenance so it’s closed. I haven’t been there almost 30 freaking years. Still might head out to give them a hand. I like your videos. Pretty deep stuff… thanks man
100% agree that it takes more skills to be able to race on a dirt track,it's definitely a lot more entertaining from a spectators point of view and when it comes to rc there's not much that's more rewarding than having a car that's super fast on a low traction dirt track.
Do you know anything about basher/recreational setups? I like the simplicity/fun (and price) of 2WD, but I also want to be mixed surface (on/offroad), high speed, and maybe even drifting if possible all on the same chassis with only a setup change. And I generally like the looks of buggies the most as far as the traditional styles of RC car go. Though, obviously for offroad bashing I'd need taller tires.
The SCT 3.0 has a standup tranny in it stock. The SCT's are weighted heavily forward due to long chassis and extra tower/bumper weight. In loose loaming tracks run as much weight as far back as you can and as much toe-in in the rear you can. And run a Holeshot type tire.
ima actually goona go to the track soon because a friends a couple of years back gave me a team durango dex210 with parts and im super exited to try out racing!
@Ryan Harris keep the same theme both in and outdoors both paint schemes are awesome. Go with your current scheme it's new different and has an old school look to it.
Ryan, i just found your channel, sorry to necro an old video. I'm looking to geet started & have pretty much narrowed it down to 2 buggies & TLR is on the list. My fear is that with the X4-Eliite having a couple of years on it now that I'll pick one up & there will be a new release to compete with Xray/AE & I'll feel like i missed out. Should I wait closer to summer (My local track is outdoor & has been closed) to make a decision?
Great shots, those buggy movements close up is the best thing, shame you don't see the big race coverage exactly like that, there's so much in it. That is actually why I love buggy racing and especially 2wd. Those whips were awesome, kudos to your friend Kenny. Hope to see him get really consistent besides fast and thus successful. Camera work was awesome too. Paint job is awesome as well, I prefer it to the other one. But as you plan, it fits outdoor really well.. I wish there were shots like this of BK back in his heyday... Rip Brian. Cheers
Thanks Ryan, really entertaining video. I couldn't agree more on how fun outdoor racing is. I raced the RC Pro series at A#1 RC in Grand Prairie TX last weekend and had more fun that I have had in a long time.
i found out that a thinner pinion does aid in that less crap get stuck in the spur gear, just an advice :) tho im running on astro sometimes dust earth and sand get on the track and try to stick to the spur gear.
I have been watching your videos for a while now. But just subscribed. I like the way you explain things. So I have one question. Did you take the sway bars out because the track was just so loose that even the smallest sway bar would be to much. Because we race on a ball park in the Florida keys. And it looks just like that same dirt. Sandy clay.
I was thinking of putting Proline Hole shot on my Pro4 Sc10 truck to run on local track. (It's hard clay with plenty of blue groove) What you think of those tires ?? Just curious to what you think about the tires??..
Hi Ryan , over in the u.k vintage racing is becoming very popular. Have you ever thought of taking a trip back in time to race say a losi xx at a vintage rc meet ?
Great video like always one of these days my dad and I will take a trip to that track looks so fun. Will you be at the Florida carpet champs I’ll be racing there
Hey @Ryan Harris The link to the setup sheet is broken Could you shoot me a link or a photo of the one you used in the video, I race on a track like this. Thankyou
its on petit rc. once there look up for the "setup" tab and look for it. its pretty easy to find. it would be even easier if youtube allowed links haha!
Do you have a discord or anything? Love the videos. Has gotten my interest piqued into 2wd stock class, but I have no idea where to begin. So many options, so much information lol I'm wanting to buy things in increments and build up my buggy as cash affords. Anyway, sorry for rambling, keep up the great work
On the first car when you were talking about the shocks you showed a good view of the tire and you were talking about open cell foam .. were those tires HB gigabytes ??? I used to run HB gigabytes with open cell foam and they were money every time!!! Anyways ... As always great job and great tunes
Followed your setup sheet almost to the t for a 22t 4.0 and wow! Finally being able to drive a 2wd at my local track is a blast. Any update on the 22x4 setup sheet?
My local track is right next to a zoo and the bunny cage is the closest, and during a 1/8 buggy race a bunny somehow got out of the cage and onto the track, and of course lil bunny man stops right after the biggest jump and here comes a flying buggy and landed right on the back of the bunny and somehow he got away from it injury free
When you let the throttle go to neutral, a percentage of brake can be applied by the ESC to help corner entry. 100% would be 100% of your brakes and the car would stop completely lol some people run about 10% on average
Hi Ryan all we do is race 1/10 scale dirt racing @short track rc I have a losi 22 2.0 rear motor and was wondering how much difference it would be getting a team associated b6.3d
Hey Ryan, how are you doing? Your videos are always so good, I really enjoy them, thank you for doing this, it’s been super helpful and entertaining. I just wanted to let you know the “secret” link on the description is not working for a few weeks now. Not sure if you noticed.
Can you give a bit of a tutorial or one of your good descriptive videos about twisting steering left/right mid jump that I'm seeing in lots of the Pro races and in this video. I'm guessing it's for best landing angle or straighten car out if you've taken off on a bad angle on a jump. Would be great to hear how it works
I've seen the amount of (toe in) on your 2wd. A bit less of rear toe in under those track contitions could probably help you out exiting the corner. But that's just me saying. Haven't you felt a bit less grip on the rear getting in corner with that amount of rear toe in?
Hi Ryan, thanks so much for this video! Trying to get good info on outdoor loose car setups is so tough. With the VRP pistons do you use the carbon valve expansion pack on them?
Hey Ryan, learned a lot from your videos, thanks. Do you have a tire suggestion for 1/10 4WD truggy on a dirt low grip track? Not easy to find for stadium truck. Greetings from Austria
Hey Ryan i really wanna know if the standup trans is a drop in fit into the 22 5.0 or do you have make some mods to make it fit? Because the only standup conversion i can see for the 22 series is for the 4.0
Ive never raced before just recently got into RC and want to get in to 4wd buggy but i have no clue ware to start.... Do i really need to buy a $400 kit build it up just to get into it as a NOOB and learn?
Thank you for the info Ryan 🤙, what would be your sugestion for a SC truck in a loose dirt track, sway bars or not? Im runing an AE SC10.2 / ball diff and the standup gearbox for your reco in this vid. but still loosing (spining) my car in the turns easily,
So i’m finish this video now, and i just wanted to add, the motor on the other side is the difference between stand up and laydown… the weight position is minimal, but the torques are driving the rear down, where on laydown the torques are against eachother… if your experienced and think about it you’ll know what i mean… tires and engine same way, or opposite ways…
I gave up on rc racing, there is so much anger and high school mentality I have never seen so many adults act like little children throwing temper tantrums and bullying anyone they can when they can. I love the rc hobby and I will stick to having real fun bashing and drag racing with my kids. And I have raced at 3 tracks over 2 years and I have witnessed different people act the same grumpy, angry and sour unless they win of course and even when they win they still complain. There are great people at the track but their are more people with an evil nature and they by far out shine the good. So Ryan Style Harris if you could address this very real issue you could help someone who is looking at the exit.
Ryan, with respect, when i tune into a dirt setup video the last thing i expect to hear about ia paint schemes. How about hard arms vs soft, flat arms, vs. gull, dampening, toe, anti squat..... etc. Rare miss here dude.
Looks like real off-road like the old days. Not the glorified road tracks with jumps. Also seemed not too many jumps for the sake of jumps, which tracks seem to look like now
i like clean straight solid lines on a race vehicle paint job .
paint jobs on these are tight!
My track club track is an outdoor track. Those paintjobs look sick!
Thanks!
Cool shirt ! Thanks for supporting our club 👍

Hey Ryan I was the one challenging you on the standup vs laydown. Glad you had success and going to have a look at your setup sheets for sure.
Gotta love outdoor dirt. Takin the 2wd back to it’s roots 🤙
Do you know anything about basher/recreational setups? More dirt setup tips please😅
Need more 2wd SCT tips and tricks and race action - OUTDOORS! Keep up the great work man..

#bringbackshortcourse
Ahhh ya, love me some outdoor, thanks Ryan!
the beatle thinking lets get some track time.
I'm going to go to a track for the first time this weekend with some of my cars, and its mostly because of you, so thank you
Good luck dude!
ima actually goona go to the track soon because a friends a couple of years back gave me a team durango dex210 with parts and im super exited to try out racing!
Beautiful paint scheme indeed! Some good pointers as always. Thank you, Sir.
like it and it looks old school.
Man that was really some excellent camera work catching your car for those action shots
Love the “outdoor” bodies and paint scheme.
@Ryan Harris keep the same theme both in and outdoors both paint schemes are awesome. Go with your current scheme it's new different and has an old school look to it.
Thanks for all the details. I know it helps this rookie alot!
Ryan, i just found your channel, sorry to necro an old video. I'm looking to geet started & have pretty much narrowed it down to 2 buggies & TLR is on the list. Love the retro paint scheme Ryan
Amazing content

Nice drone footage. Kenny always sends it
Ever run open cell in the back and closed cell in front? I like my rear blockades w a JConcepts open cell and my front goosebumps with a closed cell.
Love paint work on the bodies
Ryan this was perfect timing man. I’m actually heading to lake park right now and was looking for something to help me get a better set up in my car.
Is that mills pond?
Wish we had outdoor dirt tracks in the uk!
Damn man I love that paint scheme! Got to love outdoor grassroots racing 🏁 🏎 😍
I am choosing a motor for mod not sure what size and what is in the rules for mod motor's thanks
Love the outdoor. Car looks really planted considering. Would be nice if there was a gear cover for us with the laydown trans…
i found out that a thinner pinion does aid in that less crap get stuck in the spur gear, just an advice :)
tho im running on astro sometimes dust earth and sand get on the track and try to stick to the spur gear.
That photo of the filthy buggy at the start is epic.
Nice KEORCA top!
I'd love for you to come and race in the UK to try a different type of racing!
Trying the vrp hard pack in the rear of my 1/8 losi 8 buggy
Excellent Video, Ryan.
As always, appreciate the tips!! Definitely learned the ceramic bearing and loamy dirt lesson myself this summer 😂🤦♂️ Can confirm validity!

Drone footage is great!!!
YESSS Man classic awesome outdoor racing , I LOVE IT
A good in between laydown vs stand-up is laydown with shocks on rear of tower.
It's an easy trial on a day vs having to convert to stand-up.
Do you have a discord or anything? Love the videos. Has gotten my interest piqued into 2wd stock class, but I have no idea where to begin. So many options, so much information lol I'm wanting to buy things in increments and build up my buggy as cash affords. Anyway, sorry for rambling, keep up the great work
Hey Ryan can you give any tips on what it takes to become sponsored or how to become sponsored
On the first car when you were talking about the shocks you showed a good view of the tire and you were talking about open cell foam .. were those tires HB gigabytes ??? I used to run HB gigabytes with open cell foam and they were money every time!!! Anyways ... As always great job and great tunes
Rawspeed Super Minis!
I wish we had 8th scale Nitro tracks up here in Washington
Great video Ryan!
Followed your setup sheet almost to the t for a 22t 4.0 and wow! Finally being able to drive a 2wd at my local track is a blast. Any update on the 22x4 setup sheet?
Have to get my hands on some of those Monster decals for my car. Would love to know where you picked those up. Cheers Ryan, awesome video as always!
I think it was from a moto sticker sheet I found on eBay !
So where is your 4wd buggy setup for outside
My local track is right next to a zoo and the bunny cage is the closest, and during a 1/8 buggy race a bunny somehow got out of the cage and onto the track, and of course lil bunny man stops right after the biggest jump and here comes a flying buggy and landed right on the back of the bunny and somehow he got away from it injury free
wow really light shock oil
Just wondering, do you use (activate) Drag Brake on your setup?
What about brake setting? Is it 100% or so? Thanks.
When you let the throttle go to neutral, a percentage of brake can be applied by the ESC to help corner entry. 100% would be 100% of your brakes and the car would stop completely lol some people run about 10% on average
Nice video!!! Would love to see more like this. Definitely need tips to improve 2WD racing!!
Hi Ryan all we do is race 1/10 scale dirt racing @short track rc
I have a losi 22 2.0 rear motor and was wondering how much difference it would be getting a team associated b6.3d
On your 2wd, we’re you running a fan on the motor? I didn’t see one.
Ryan what Rawpeed tires do you recommend for SS??
Epic edit, love to see some more outdoor tracks like my local.
Just got a 2wd kit, any tips on how to drive straight and not spin out on corners?!!
Hi Ryan, hey is the 4WD setup sheet ready? I'm rebuilding my 22x-4 and it would be perfect timing to try new setup!
Hey Ryan, how are you doing? Your videos are always so good, I really enjoy them, thank you for doing this, it’s been super helpful and entertaining. I just wanted to let you know the “secret” link on the description is not working for a few weeks now. Not sure if you noticed.
what are those springs on the 22x4??
Thanks for the tips. Another great video. Even running 1/5 scale cars like I do. I find your tips helpful.
Thanks Kenny!!!

A bit less of rear toe in under those track contitions could probably help you out exiting the corner. But that's just me saying. Haven't you felt a bit less grip on the rear getting in corner with that amount of rear toe in?
Aye Ryan quick question what do you think about jq racing
Theme feels like a grandterismo vid with the song choice
Hi Ryan, thanks so much for this video! Trying to get good info on outdoor loose car setups is so tough. With the VRP pistons do you use the carbon valve expansion pack on them?
I use the valve that comes with the kit. I think it’s a middle position
Awesome edit man!!!!! 😊🤙🇦🇺🍻🍻🍻🍻
Where did you get those side transition decals? Or are those custom painted? Looks great!
What drone didi you use for that last shot of the track?
I'm just wondering Ryan are you going to get the Typhon tlr?
Hey Ryan, learned a lot from your videos, thanks. Do you have a tire suggestion for 1/10 4WD truggy on a dirt low grip track? Not easy to find for stadium truck.

Sweet

Buy used lots on market place
Awesome fun an info ty for the vid that was great 👍 to
Looks a lot like our track
I hate wall sections on buggy tracks.
Thank you for the info Ryan 🤙, what would be your sugestion for a SC truck in a loose dirt track, sway bars or not? Im runing an AE SC10.2 / ball diff and the standup gearbox for your reco in this vid. but still loosing (spining) my car in the turns easily,

Setup sheet link doesn’t work, you’re not giving any specifics in the video. It useless for newbies.
Good tips 💯👍🏾
Cool vid👌

Where do u find your outdoor xx4 setup
Whats the best speed controller?
🏁Awesome!
Ummm, did you say comforbility? :-)
