Ikr? They missed an opportunity to show his bond with Kili, Thorin, the pressure to be the next in line and everything that comes with it. I feel this way towards other dwarfs as well, like there’s a gap there, other things we should’ve seen
It's still maddening for me that they did not give Fili proper attention. For God's sake, he's a prince, an heir of the throne! They turned all the attention to Kili and even in the death scenes Kili and Thorin were mourned, but Fili was left alone and not even mentioned. Also, you actually managed to show almost every scene of Fili, which is really sad. I wish there was more credit for the character and Dean O'Gorman himself.
While I prefer Kili as a character, I still agree, Fili's whole character just seems to be "Kili's brother," I think they should have explored him more, the only thing I remeber him doing is dying, and staying back at Lake town, with Kili.
@@kirin1230 I know. He is one of the best characters, and as Fili and Kili come as a pair, it doesn’t make sense that Kili gets all the attention, while if you told someone about Fili, they would be likely to reply, “Fili? Who’s Fili? Oh, Kili’s brother. He doesn’t do that much, I definitely prefer Kili.”
That’s true, I agree too but how come I don’t see a full video of Kili instead of Fili , I mean is that I know both Kili and Fili come as a pair because they are brothers but I wish they show more of Kili because he’s my favorite.
My favourite part of all three films is during Blunt The Knives, when Balin is calmly hitting the plates behind him, and you just see Fili in the background, trying to catch every plate thrown his way.
More like he was showing that he had no more weapons by spreading his jacket, and hoping the elf would stop unarming him and looking at different locations. So it was rather a face of awkwardness after getting caught
This character needed more attention :/ As the heir of Erebor, this could have been interesting to know more of his point of view or as Kili's brother we could have known more about their relationship and Durin's family in general, but instead we got a romance between Kili and an elf.... :/
I loved the brothers... Fili has such a caring nature and he would do anything for his brother. he was ready to stay with his brother in Dale instead of going to Erebor with his uncle.
I don't think so. Sure, I agree that the romance with Tauriel was unnecessary, but especially when it comes to the individual dwarfs, I prefer the movies. Because in the book, there was Thorin, there was Balin and there were "the dwarfs". So, we didn't even have a Fili and a Kili (I mean, we had them, but they hadn't a role) and an individual story behind every dwarf. That's what I defenetely prefer about the movies.
It's been said multiple times but I'll say it again. Absolutely love Kili, he's my fave but he really overshadows his brother. Fili get 4 minutes of screntime out of about 9 hours worth of Hobbit films. SERIOUSLY?!?! He's the heir to the throne!! It's a real shame he wasn't developed a lot more. ☹️
It's so sad that Fili did not have enough screen times compared to Kili and Thorin despite him being the heir to the throne, and there's more of him than meets the eyes. His loyalties, cares and loves for his brother made him such amazing character, and when I found out that Dean O'Gorman played Fili I was so happy because I loved him in Hercules, Xena and Young Hercules, he's just an amazing actor and Fili just reminded me of that young Iolaus in Young Hercules 😁😁
Does anyone else feel your heart throb when the mountain cracks in between Fili and Kili? The way Fili tried to call out and help Kili was so beautiful. 😭😭❤️ Big brother goals, I say! 😊😊❤️
I'm so pissed Fili was done so dirty. I adored the costume the moment I saw it, and I love what little character bled through, in spite of his incredibly limited screen time. Dean O'Gorman was acting his ass off start-to-finish, even as production began to slip due to studio interference. I swear to god, this movie was a straight-up crime. Fuck the studios for what they did to it.
This makes me sad, i loved the dynamic between kili and fili, i wish they had included more scenes of them being brothers, especially the death scenes, it makes me so mad.
I'm really hoping that when they bring out the super extended edition of the hobbit movies there will be more Fili scenes. Don't get me wrong i love the movies but the thing that really bugs me is Fili and Kili's deaths. i wish Peter had stuck more to the book and had them die together defending Thorin. It would have been beautiful and heart wrenching, and it would have been better to have Fili going down fighting T - T
In my quarantine boredom wanderings through UA-cam, I stumbled across a snip of someone subbing Anders' dialogue for Fili's. Fili turns to Kili (in Anders' casual tone), "I tell everyone you're gay." I did a total spit take. I wish I could find that again. Almighty Johnsons was such a good show!
@@katesampleseverything - I got really stoned and I stumbled on this one again. Whole thing is interspersed with Fili doing Anders' dialogue - and definitely watch the post credits scene. My favorite character after Thorin. :) He and his brother and Uncle always my faves. He didn't deserve the way he died in the movie. Why couldn't he have screen time with someone grieving over his death. :(
The eight knives and daggers the elves found off him and his little grumble when the last weapon was taken from him… it broke something in me he is precious
Fili isn't any dwarf, he is Thorin's niece! And he is older than Kili, which makes him king if Thorin died. But in the end, Fili sacrificed his own life for his uncle. If he hadn't done that, Dain II won't be King under the Mountain, and the line of Thror wouldn't end. I hope they just give Fili more attention in the movies because Kili existed, he had seemed just like an ensemble like Gloin or Oin (No offense to the actors of those two characters).
Also, there is my fav., Bofur. He was the jokester, had a lot of lines in the movie, and in the end, the best friend to Bilbo among the dwarves. Although in the books, it was Balin who truely befriended Bilbo.
I started watching these movies with a slight distaste towards the beardless dwarf kili but as he became more important in screen time than fili hier to erabor and his pointless elf dwarf romance bugged down the story I just got mad.
And this is why I stick the original scenes in the movies. It’s like Peter Jackson once said if they hire the wrong actor it could potentially destroy the whole. I respect all Tolkien including Peter Jackson but i I’ve enough the hobbit and Lotr more times than anybody else. If these are just clips of Kili there not really any point of watching it. I’m just speaking for experience. At least you didn’t add any doom music into your video. That’s the one thing I hate about editors no offense. That’s what ruins movie scenes. I don’t remember the movie but a guy edited out the scene and put doom music in it and it was so loud I couldn’t hear the dialogue in the movie. And I called the dude out for it. Believe me ive seen people on UA-cam ruin movies before. I’ll give you a like because your Tolkien Fan I respect you for that. I just hope you’re not one of those editors because they do a good job at ruining films. It also reminds me of the early 2000s copyright commercials from movies
Fili is a nephew to the king and is expected to become the next king while I always thought the king's son or daughter would get the crown. So ... how come this? Did they just assume that Thorin wouldn't find a queen or something? Would someone please explain this? I'm quite curious and I wonder if I missed something.
He’s first in line at present since Thorin has no children of his own and I think I read that Dis (Fili & Kili’s mother) could not inherit since the throne only passed to males. Hence why it went to Dain at the end since on Thorin’s branch of the family tree there were no more males If Thorin ever had sons then Fili would be pushed down the line of succession for the eldest boy to replace him.
I love the scene where elves keep taking his knives
Hes loaded XD There endless.
He gets so pissed 😂😂
"Random guard, what do your elf eyes see?"
"A lot of knives."
That part is beautiful
Fili X his wepons
Poor Fili, he deserved more screen time
Right there is alot of him that was yet explored and I wish we got to see it.

Dwalin and Bofur speak a LOT too@@NinaPrado-l4k
My favorite Fili character quirk is the unbelievable number of knives he keeps stashed on him. Such a fun gag!

NOT EVEN 5 MINUTES????? Goddamn, he's a future KING!!
I liked the scene when he tells Bard to take his children and leave them, don't know if that was just in the extended version though.
Priceless201 nah it is in the regular movie believe me I just watched the movie on DVD
I HATE the part where Fili realizes he's surrounded and he can't get out!
Same 😥
So fili calls thorin, "uncle". But i heard kili calling thorin by his name.
Fili calls Thorin by his name in the first movie too... while on the eagles. They use it interchangeably ig.

I think Kili and Thorin were grieving for him, the pain in their eyes seeing Fili dying is so huge:(
Better death than in the book. In the book, Fili and Kili died 'offscreen'.
