Great video content of the neighborhoods in Porto. I rented an airbnb in Bonfim in october 2019 and I really like the area. Bonfire is so walkable to downtown and yet very quiet. . I am currently living here in Los Angeles, but I am thinking of moving and getting a D7 visa next year. Thanks again for this wonderful video
Well done love all the videos of the area. I totally get the feel and vibe! Another good video! Josh says he goes low carbs. Also Josh, attacking "Bacalhau com Natas", made of codfish, potatoes and cream. My first son was born in Bonfim, a while back. The School of fine arts is located there, gives the neighborhood a special vibe. Main train station is Campanhã, and S.Bento is the central station, both are conected by frequent trains and is a 5min. trip. About the airport access, there is a dedicated metro line, so is actually fast and easy.
Thanks, José. It was said tongue in check as I was supposed to get rice with my order and it never came and I panned up to show the beer, which is by no means low card either. 😂 Bonfim. 🥰 - Josh & Kalie

I just spent a week living beside the Garden of St Lazarus (Jardim Marques de Oliveira) and it was really nice. The metro 24 De Agosto was about 5 mins walk away. With Aliados about 10-15 min walk. @@ExpatsEverywhere Folks have talked about it on some of the fb Portugal forums. We also contacted a realtor about a possible (unfurnished) rental there, but decided on Baixa for our first stop. You guys are doing an amazing job 👍 I just hope that more international people are watching and falling in ❤️ with all these beautiful places in Portugal specially in the different regions of the city of Porto ❤️🥂👌🇵🇹🇺🇸
You're welcome. Just remember this is not a tourism neighborhood except the church is something to see and maybe the park we show. 😁 So for scouting where to live, Bonfim is a must. - Josh & Kalie

I enjoyed your video on the Bonfim, and we are in Porto for 2 months to see if we like living here. I am having a hard finding the Parque das Aguas. Even searching maps for Nova Sintra has come up empty. Do have the cross streets, or the city water works location or name?
Thanks. The parque is a little tricky to find or at least unassuming from the outside. R. do Barão de Nova Sintra S/n, 4300-367 Porto should get you there. It's right out from Heroismo metro and then down the street towards the river. - Josh & Kalie
Thank you for such a great breakdown of the best Porto neighborhoods! We've learned so much! Would you please consider doing a similar "best neighborhoods" breakdown of Lisbon?
Hi Anna, 😅 that would take some doing. I think we'd have to live there a few months. Lisbon is so big and spread out compared to Porto. We wish one of the Lisbon content creators would do it because it could be really valuable stuff. We'll think about it but we're not sure we could do it real justice without living there for a bit. - Josh & Kalie
@@ExpatsEverywhere Thank you so much for your reply! I totally get it! We are planning to move to Portugal in a few years and aren't sure where we'll end up living yet. We figured that for newcomers like us, Lisbon might be a good start! Do you find Porto to also have some of the same amenities as Lisbon?
@@annakhan7479 you’re welcome. Porto basically has everything that Lisbon does but maybe less variety. It still has an international airport, it gets international acts, it gets sporting events, it has international restaurants and people living here. - Josh & Kalie
I was traveling for a while here in the US and missed your videos. I had to catch up on your latest stuff. This whole series is great - and I love that you are giving us a taste of different places to live in Porto. Bonfim looks like the best of Porto for us too - close to the center but not too busy. But, people from the US still cannot travel to Portugal. Have you heard (unofficially perhaps) when Portugal will let vaccinated tourists visit? We almost bought tickets for August but now we have our doubts.
Hey Thomas, thanks for the message. We're glad that you're enjoying the series. Unofficially, if things remain consistent, July maybe? With the British light system changing, a lot of tourist have reported pulling out of their vacation plans here. - Josh & Kalie

Coukd you share some price ramges in this part of town...rental ranges? Thank you...We always get the good vibe that you're enjoying everything you do.
In some of our other videos we've talked about some negative aspects, but to be honest, they're few and far between and we don't generally sweat the small stuff. Thanks for subscribing publicly. It's your first time commenting too, right? I don't recognize the name. Hmm, it's hard to give a proper range really but let's say €500 to €1,000+ for a studio/1br to maybe a 3 br place that a lower to moderate finish. To give a better example would be take a place in Bonfim and if you transplanted it to the downtown or Ribeira or Foz area it would be €100-300 more per month. - Josh & Kalie
If you settle there and decide to get a pet, my vet is near Astronauta, called "Lingua de Gato". Can you write the korean restaurant's name? Could not understand it on the video.
ondo korean kitchen Rua de S. Victor 148, 4000-512 Porto We actually take our dog to Lingua de Gato too. We had some b-roll of the store front and just didn't show it. It didn't fit in with the storyline. - Josh & Kalie
I'm currently shopping for a summer condo in myrtle Beach but after watching this I'm now thinking why not porto? my budget is $200k...what can i buy? thanks
😅 Shew, that would take some doing. It would be nice if a creator down there would step up and do it. 😁 Honestly, we'll have to think about it. It would mean moving to Lisbon for several months to reach properly and we're not really Lisbon kinda people. Keep us posted on your move! - Josh & Kalie
No, Roy, not exactly. That's more like Cedofeita or Vitoria around Miguel Bombarda. It has a very artsy vibe. Bonfim's scene is slowly developing but Bonfim is a neighborhood with locals and very little tourism. It also had a pretty evenly distributed age demographic. - Josh & Kalie
Sorry, we don't want too many people to know where it is. 😉 Seriously though, we forgot to add it to this one. There's a map that we used, we don't love it because the image isn't great, but we should have added it to this episode. We also forgot it in the Marques episode too. The other 5 have it....we think. - Josh & Kalie
Across Porto, there's not much difference in the cost of living from neighborhood to neighborhood in the center. The only real COL change is the cost of housing. - Josh & Kalie
In Porto, it varies. The north certainly gets more rain or shall we say, less sunshine compared to the rest of Portugal. The temperatures are in the 70s during summer and 40s to 50s during winter. If you like a cooler climate that has 4 seasons and very little chance of freeze temperatures, Porto could be a good place for you. - Josh & Kalie
Hey, Russell. Definitely our opinion and some other locals that don't also live in Bonfim. Not many short term rentals. Like Airbnb type housing. - Josh & Kalie

Unfurnished was going to be too much work at this point. Bonfim reminds me of Hillcrest in San Diego where we lived for awhile and loved it. Will definitely look out for you guys on Sunday!
@@kirstenb2708 great. Thanks for sharing. 😃 Hope to see you Sunday.
Saved the best for last! Bonfim looks amazing.
We think so! 😁 Thanks for watching, Megan. - Josh & Kalie
Great series, guys!
Thank you! That's a wrap. 😁 On to the next one. - Josh & Kalie
Looks like you found your ‘home’ neighborhood! ❤️
Indeed. Now we have to find a place to lay our heads there. - Josh & Kalie
You guys are doing an amazing job 👍 I just hope that more international people are watching and falling in ❤️ with all these beautiful places in Portugal specially in the different regions of the city of Porto ❤️🥂👌🇵🇹🇺🇸
Thanks, Joe! We appreciate the support. We hope so too. Share our stuff! It really helps us grow. 😁 - Josh & Kalie
This is a neighborhood I'll check out when I visit later this year (hopefully). Thanks!
You're welcome. Just remember this is not a tourism neighborhood except the church is something to see and maybe the park we show. 😁 So for scouting where to live, Bonfim is a must. - Josh & Kalie
@@ExpatsEverywhere I'm from NYC - I don't want to live near tourists here or anywhere!
@@bklyntraveler9705 😂 So you've had enough of tourism, huh?
As usual Cia carries the show...😁. You two should feel privileged to work with such great talent. Oh, awesome video BTW, great info!
We know, we know. We feel blessed to work with her. If only we could get her to do the editing, we'd be golden.
Thank you. 🙏 Glad you liked the info. - Josh & Kalie
Thanks!
Tom, so sorry we missed seeing this! Thank you very much for the channel support. 💪 - Josh & Kalie
Totally agree!!! Bonfim!!
🥳 Let's go, Kim! - Josh & Kalie
@@ExpatsEverywhere I actually had an amazing place that I had already put a retainer on not far from the Military museum and then the Covid hit planet earth and I changed direction and decided to get outside the city. By close this year, I hope to be there and not too far away from you guys. For sure would love to meet up somewhere. Love your program, very informative.
Love this!
Thank you!
I will be looking to move into this part of town. Got residency a month ago. 🙌
Nice, congratulations! See you there. 😉 - Josh & Kalie
Thank you for such a great breakdown of the best Porto neighborhoods! We've learned so much! Would you please consider doing a similar "best neighborhoods" breakdown of Lisbon?
Lisbon is quite different from Porto.
Yep. It is!
Loved all these neighborhoods! I think Foz feels right for us but would love to try them all 😉
Nice, man! Go for it! Thanks for watching and your input!!
Guys, Valencia is too cute! So funny when she tried to clink her sippy cup with you guys at the bar! 🤣😊
Josh: I just emailed you to say I'm going to watch the video now, and man, you and Kalie DO NOT DISAPPOINT!
Kalie: I hate beets, too! 🤪
ExPats Everywhere is definitely the channel you should keep up with, subscribe and continuously follow 🙌.
Thank you for highlighting vegetarian options! 🙏
Oh! You found it. Our pleasure 😊- Josh & Kalie
Great video. Love the rating system. What do you know about the VTAX # for home purchase? I read its different from NIF.
Thanks, Sharon. We've not heard of VTAX #. Could you send us a link and we'll look into it or ask a realtor. - Josh & Kalie
If you settle there and decide to get a pet, my vet is near Astronauta, called "Lingua de Gato".
Can you write the korean restaurant's name? Could not understand it on the video.
ondo korean kitchen
Rua de S. Victor 148, 4000-512 Porto
We actually take our dog to Lingua de Gato too. We had some b-roll of the store front and just didn't show it. It didn't fit in with the storyline. - Josh & Kalie
Super video! I applauded for $10.00 👏👏👏
🥳 Thank you so much, Leonard. We're really glad that you liked the video!!! 🙏 Amazing! - Josh & Kalie
I'm currently shopping for a summer condo in myrtle Beach but after watching this I'm now thinking why not porto? my budget is $200k...what can i buy? thanks
Thanks! Will you do similar video in Lisbon? Planning to move there next year but not sure where to settle.
Try checking Driven Spice's YT channel, she lives in the Lisbon area
Does Bon Fim have a bit of bohemian feel? I like that kind of place.
Please show a map with the location of the district at the beginning. I have no idea where to find this district.
Sorry, we don't want too many people to know where it is. 😉
Seriously though, we forgot to add it to this one. There's a map that we used, we don't love it because the image isn't great, but we should have added it to this episode. We also forgot it in the Marques episode too. The other 5 have it....we think. - Josh & Kalie
Wish more on the community and cost of living
Across Porto, there's not much difference in the cost of living from neighborhood to neighborhood in the center. The only real COL change is the cost of housing. - Josh & Kalie
do you still have the same feelings now after 2 years living in bonfim?
Looks lovely. What is the weather like year round?
In Porto, it varies. The north certainly gets more rain or shall we say, less sunshine compared to the rest of Portugal. The temperatures are in the 70s during summer and 40s to 50s during winter. If you like a cooler climate that has 4 seasons and very little chance of freeze temperatures, Porto could be a good place for you. - Josh & Kalie
@@ExpatsEverywhere thanks, we want to visit before end of year. What about hotel/apt rental(s) ? Ant recommendations?
I see you saved the best for last, in your opinion. You mentioned not many rentals in that neighborhood, We would like to rent first.
Hey, Russell. Definitely our opinion and some other locals that don't also live in Bonfim. Not many short term rentals. Like Airbnb type housing. - Josh & Kalie
Hello, can I apply for a long-term residence visa as a remote worker working for a business consulting and management company in the United States? If so, is it D2 or D7 or other types?
Yes, Jason. That's basically what we did to get our D7 visa. Email info@expatseverywhere.com and Kalie can fill you in on what to do. - Josh & Kalie
Can you do a video on country or small villages?
Yes, we can. It's coming up. Please, stay tuned. - Josh & Kalie
@@ExpatsEverywhere I will anxiously be awaiting
bonfim means what that is the first thing you should have mentioned
Bonfim means "Great Neighborhood." 😉 - Josh & Kalie
Is weed legal there?
I get migraines....
Medicinal use is legal since 2018 and it's been decriminalized for a while. - Josh & Kalie
America this is what a Real egg is suppose to look like...@ 6:14

About 25 years ago capa negra and Cufra na praça da galiza is one the best francezinhas in Porto city now is i don't now , sorry guys.
😅 That's why I said what I said tongue and cheek. 😉 Self-proclaimed best little frenchie like half the places in Porto say. - Josh & Kalie

Nice, Luis! - Josh & Kalie
