I stopped feeling guilty about food; ALL of it. Groceries and eating out. I LOVE food, it’s my favorite thing in life and my hobby and I’m known as the chef in my family. I don’t pay for hair, nails, lashes, alcohol, smoking, massages, etc. I don’t have streaming subscriptions. I don’t drink or smoke. I get ONE manicure or pedicure per year. I do my own nails. I have my mom or man color my hair. Food IS my thing and I legitimately have to eat anyways so there. No more guilt. Besides it’s ALL so priced high (food) that there’s not much use trying to save mere pennies. I’ll go without everywhere else in life but I am darn sure gonna eat what I want and where and when I want. I also have health issues so that’s part of the good thing too. I have to eat healthier for me.
I totally feel ya! Food is a necessity and we all deserve to eat well. Not feeling the guilt of spending money on food is definitely something I'm working on, especially since it affects our health and well being. Thanks for watching!
I got a second job in the restaurant business at a fine dining establishment in the role of waitress to accelerate my savings for retirement. My income at this restaurant surpassed my day job. Highly recommend this as a side gig to accelerate your goals.
One of the things that has saved me the most money over the years is doing my own maintenance & repairs to my own cars. Not only the cost savings of labor but not having to be at the mercy of a random mechanic’s schedule & knowing you’re not being sold things you don’t need. UA-cam is a goldmine for doing your own repairs & diagnosing a problem.
@@JoanQuinto you definitely should, you will enjoy it & gain confidence in your abilities. Start with something simple like oil changes & progress at your own pace. Harbor Freight has Daytona Jacks of almost any color you like along with Jackstands. Always, always, always work safe & never get in a hurry.
I feel like on the internet everything is portrayed as "all or nothing", be it frugality or minimalism, because I guess it sells more IDK. But I do believe that your intended approach is more realistic and sustainable. I do find myself feeling guilty for spending or indulging from time to time. Absolutely relatable. Happy New Year!
I’m glad you were able to relate and thanks for pointing that out! Content out there does put me under pressure to be all or nothing. This year for me is about balance. Happy New Year!
Hey Joan, as I said, I was unable to pay off all my debt. But now it's down to £2582 after paying £1500 off it. I've increased my buying & selling so I'm planning to wipe it out ASAP x
I did a low but for 7 months last year and I would feel really guilty every time I made a purchase. I would order something I NEEDED online and then cancel the order before they sent it. The need didn’t go away. I had to buy the item anyway but the guilt would get to me.
I feel you. Most of last year for me was low buy and I would feel the same guilt. I think it’s because we get into the habit of not spending, that when we do, it feels uncomfortable.
I retired at 52 and honestly, I wish I’d done it sooner. The 9-to-5 grind always steals your freedom for a paycheck that barely scratches the surface. My advice? If you’re in your late 30s or early 40s, start saving for FIRE now (Financial Independence, Retire Early.) And if you’re in your 50s, invest smartly and break free from relying on your job. Market trends, like the Trump Effect, have made millions for many, including me. Stay focused, stay consistent, and remember financial freedom is within reach if you make it a priority.
Working with Lorrie Greta Hillard , a financial advisor, was a game changer. She helped me refine my savings strategy, including retirement planning, and provided expert guidance on investments and budgeting to maximize my savings.
Joan, your videos are always so genuine and insightful. This episode beautifully demonstrates one of the many benefits of self-reflection. And if it is any consolation, a good take-out of coffee in the neighborhood I work, runs about $7 per cup BEFORE tax and tip. So, enjoy the TJ's premium with a heartful of gratitude. Wishing you a wonderful, healthy and prosperous new year ahead. ♥
Thank you Jean, for your encouraging message! And I will definitely feel grateful every time I have my TJ’s coffee, which I’m enjoying right at this moment as I type. 😊 Wishing a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year to you! 🎆

That’s amazing! Will definitely look into that side hustle. Thanks for sharing!

Great idea! Car care gets expensive and I can imagine how much you save if you can do it yourself. Something I’d really like to look into.
@@BackyardEngineer334 I wish I could do that 😕

Relatable, feeling guilty spending money.😂
Seriously does happen! 😅

Do you have a time frame of when you hope to have your debt paid off?
Originally had 2.5 years in mind but now we want to push for 1.5!
Im so happy that i have not dent. I do not have alot of money. But for me and my pets are doing good

Exactly My point! The 9 to 5 grind is just not worth it the stress and low payoff. What specific steps did you take to break free?

Got it! Thanks for the tip! I was curious, so I looked up Lorrie
I have 5 more years and I can’t wait to retire!
