SpaceX Starship SN9 Landing Explosion in Slow Motion
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- High-speed cameras were rolling during the uncrewed SpaceX Starship SN9 test flight in South Texas. For this mission we positioned a camera focusing exclusively on the landing pad to capture all the action during the last few moments of decent. After a largely successful test flight, failure of one of the raptor engines to relight caused the ship to RUD during landing. The rest was history.

Starhopper: I've seen things that no water tower should ever see...
Starships on fire off the coast of Texas. I watched the flare stack glitter near Boca Chica. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to explode. :P
Mainly flying copvs
and Starhopper stands still...
"next time im hopping outta here!"
Seen...and DONE things no water tower should have to. ;-)
Glorious!
Thank you Jesus Christ
Im curious, do you follow spaceflight, or are you just here for the explosion?
@@BradleyG01 I think he follows it, I’ve seen him in the almost all of comment sections over the years.
If Jesus says that Starship is glorious, you know it's extra holy!
I would like to imagine you as a person who is stalker and sadistic.
You simply make the best starship videos
Thanks Carson!
Yes, by putting image filters instead of show the reality as it is
That bird pooping at 0:15 😂
It literally shit itself.
I probably would too.
That's Detail
Looks like a failed engine relight
great catch! i had to look for the bird. sho is poopin
It'll buff out
Exactly - where's the T-Cut? ^oo^
tis a scratch
Rocket is fine?
That COPV went flying
Weeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
If this is 240 fps played back at 24 fps, that COPV went from ~10-100m in like a tenth of a second 😂 Possibly supersonic. At minimum, zero to high subsonic speeds in a fraction of a second.
It produced more thrust than the second starship engine
There are two. One went flying as it burst from one end and the other burst from both ends, so you can see it spinning.
@@vaporcobra If your 240fps assumption is correct, I've calculated that it's going around 375m/s average over the first 4 frames it's visible in, based on SN9 for scale at 50m long. If it went from 0m/s to 375m/s over 1 frame, as it well might have, that's a maximum measurable acceleration equivalent to roughly 10,000G. If it took about 5 frames, the most it could of to escape the fireball at its speed, it's still a minimum of 2000G
Which is a lot of G's either way XD
Starhopper and the landing pad are really immortal
Wow! That is amazing footage. Thanks for capturing this.
Thanks for watching
Beautiful to see this version of the landing. A great compliment to the usual Starship episodes that I follow. Let me know if you need any more music, always happy to help... this is the kind of stuff I live for, roll on SN10 :)
Thanks and hell yes! We happen to be working with "another world" for the main SN9 launch video... out soon. Would love to chat about our upcoming film as well.
Well, that was spectacular!
Beautiful. I love what you guys are doing. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Best footage I’ve seen so far!
This brought tears in my eye! RIP SN9. You're family and now part of history books as well!
WOW!! this is amazing!
Thanks
This is a masterpiece. The camera angle, the quality, the slow-mo, the music. It all comes together so well.
Thank you to the entire team, you guys, SPadre, and EDA for getting such good coverage. You and everyone else covering this are making this one of the most memorable times of our lives. Thank you
There was a FIRE VORTEX!!! Holy crap!
Just incredible, thanks to the whole team and for all the work you guys put in
Wow! Now that's some truly striking footage and with the grading being just on point as well. Truly a blessing having such wonderful coverage. Your effort means allows people like me across the globe can enjoy this brief piece of spaceflight history. Thank you!
Those flame tornadoes. WOW! What amazing footage and soothing music for such a violent event
Incredibly valuable information! Especially with regards to the piece spewing exhaust in the upper right of the frame. The knowledge gained from failures will prevent them from happening in the future as well as possibly saving lives!! Kudos!
i just cant stop looking at this
BEST 4K FOOTAGE EVEER
its so beautiful
Thanks !
That was cool as hell!! I've watched it a dozen times!!
You guys are amazing, deserve a Million subs at least!
Glorious. Plus that bird on bottom right got scared shitless. Literally.
Excellent music choice
Thanks
@@CosmicPerspective what is this music track called?
Don't thank me, I found it. The music is "Light From The TV Screen" by WHENISEEYOUISEEMYSELF
Great footage! Rip SN9 😔
Thanks
Its for a greater cause 💖
RIP the brave crew of this fine vessel, those intrepid explorers will never be forgotten. The human adventure is just beginning
I hope your joking nobody was on board this vehicle. It is a test article.
@@mattmatta1346 there's a few more angels in heaven now
My entire Lego family died in this horrific crash.
No longer shall they click together, and go on plastically rich adventures :( .
Combined with that dramatic and poignant music that sounds like the ending of a tragic-epic-movie... I literally almost cried... well, of course I wasn't crying. Just some allergies. Winter allergies.
Yes! That reminds destruction of camp Kurtz @ end of Apocalipse Now movie :)
It was for Starhopper.
I was cutting onions bro
That sucks
Me too
Sn9 ATE the ground... great footage!
Unspeakably beautiful. Music choice is great.
Thank you
The quality of this video is so high you can actually see a bird shitting itself as it tries to flew away to safety @ 0:14 on the lower right corner
shittin and gettin. dropping ballast for quicker take off
@@barxracerful Even birds know that jettisoning spent propellant improves their thrust-to-weight ratio.
The birds: flap "$h*t" flap "$h*t" flap "$h*t" flap "$h*t $h*t $h*t"
The birds were just releasing some extra ballast to ensure they could get the fuck out of there.
Always wonder what these birds are thinking though...
You guys make the most beautiful videos I have ever seen, the music choice is amazing.
Fantastic! Awesome music like always. Love grandpa Hopper watching like a kink 👑
The music its a 100% match
I wonder how many more explosive failures Hoppy can take before she becomes, well, collateral damage...
Starhopper is immortal, lol
She is made of 12mm steel, strong stuff...
Don't worry about hoppy, she's built like a tank.
@@hansenspace 12.5mm apparently, so close enough.
Awesome bold start, using the tight cut long before the action comes in. Filmmaking!
Beautiful vortex. Fire is an interesting thing. It warms us, it burns us. Fearful and wonderful.....
So much beauty in this destruction, thanks for capturing the RUD in such detail!

What about the music? Can you tell us the name? Thank you!
That was just lovely. The music played a large role in its emotional impact. Can you share with us who provided the soundtrack?
In billion years, when humans are gone from Earth and wondering the stars....on a beach in Texas, Hopper will still be standing
Unless we make a deliberate effort to move earth to a higher orbit, Starhopper will probably have melted in a billion years.
@@isaiahphillip4112 just take a bit of material out of the sun so its less bright and lasts longer as well
@@isaiahphillip4112 Like the movie, "Wandering Earth", perhapse?
That's not how things will go. In billion years when super rich people will be living in the best controlled place in outer space and rest of us will be scavenging earth then hopper will be standing still.

Best artistic coverage of starship! Love your channel!
Love Love Love the cinematography. SoGood. Brilliant.
Thank you
1:06 There's a mini tornado
Rapid convection caused by the fire created a mini low pressure system.
Before also a mini rocket
Love the music
Beautiful! Can't wait for your documentary for the first manned flights to mars!
I love 4k and starship you do both perfectly!
Hard landing and high angle for landing , reasons for fail .. but ohh boi , it was a good flight :) and good video from Cosmic Perspective , great job!!!!
Amazing slow motion video.. Waiting for the SN9 mini documentary. Nice work guys.
Pure chaotic cinematic poetry!!
Epic Ryan, thats all I can come up with. Epic.
Thanks Greg!
I love that there is what looks like a fire tornado at one point. Cool!
Fantastic capture and edit!
Thanks! 🙏🙏
Stunning. Absolutely stunning.
Just watched 20X. Amazing! Sad! Uplifting!
Wow! Majestic! And that vortex of fire!!
Not boasting, but watching that 4 feet from a 80 inch big screen is next level goodness.
Lovely footage! Thank you!
WOW that slomo shot is just gorgeous
Amazing footage
Amazing work!
that fire vortex at left is just beautiful...
Can’t wait to see the super cut with real-time and 4k slow motion and reaction like the SN8 video :)
What an awesome video. I love it. Well done
That swirl of fire at the end of explosion looks so cool.
The fire tornado on the left is simply awesome!
How the hell have I missed this channel? Felix mentioned you in our team meeting this AM. So far the place looks awesome! I have some watching to do. I recognize the video from seeing it on other channels but they never say who shot it. Its great to have finally landed.
Incredible footage!
You weren't supposed to make the RUD look that beautiful!! 😆😆
That poor single engine trying it's best to correct the vehicle.
the little engine that couldn't, but did put in a good effort :).
I know, right!
Spectacular Ryan!! Congrats!
There is something beautiful about it
Really
It’s a sight to behold
The shots from 1:40 out have a Bayhem vibe - well done
Amazing footage !
Starhopper singing: Iiiiiii'm Still Standing...
Stunning as ever.
Pure chaos. Those COPV's were epic
Congratulations! You make a wonderful job!
Magical. Wow
the bird pooped out of fear when it saw this giant vehicle 0:14 xd
Bird: hell naw this the second time I'm taking my ass to Canada
it heard the loudest noise ever. Rockest boosters reigniting
Strong work!
It’s so.. Beautiful
Thank you
Excellent. Thanks!
Well, that bird used some extra "propulsion" to get away :P
Wow!! did you see the detail in fire tornado??
Yeah, that was pretty incredible.
@@jamesdorrell712 i have never saw that before. Another first for space x !
Testing still...gives me a tear
So cool to see the contrast between the methane and oxygen there in a single shot.
Great editing! Cue slo mo shot of Mark Wahlberg running into the explosion while scream-crying, to rescue a young spaceX recruit who's definitely dead.
lol
Thank you
Bravisimo!!
Amazing work as always!
Epic footage!
0:50 That fire tornado though....
Yep, really cool :)
Awesome 🚀
Breathtaking as ever; you guys have epic skills. Did you get really lucky with the camera framing already being set, or did you have to pan/zoom into that shot as Eileen descended?
Thanks!! This shot was set for the landing pad ahead of launch
Such destructive beauty!
you guys rock!
Well isn’t anybody going to ask what that amazing music is? What is that amazing music?
I thought you wanted to make a mini film about SN.9? Did plans change?
