- Wanneer het vrouwtje bevrucht is graaft ze een nest in het zand en sluit het af met steentjes.Hierna gaat ze op zoek naar een rups die ze verlamt door een gif in te spuiten.Het nest wordt geopend en geinspecteerd voordat ze de rups naar binnen sleept.Daarna legt ze een eitje zodat de hierna uitgekomen larve zich kan voeden met de vetresten van de rups.De nestgang wordt nu volgepropt met zand en steentjes en wordt zo afgesloten.
The female digs a short burrow ending in a horizontal cell in bare or sparsely vegetated sand.Later she temporarily closes the nest entrance using sand and tiny stones,then hunts for caterpillars and paralyzes them with a sting which contains poison.Once paralyzed they take them back to their burrow and one egg is laid next to the caterpillar.When hatched the larva will consume it.

en kreeg toen in de gaten dat hij gesleept werd door een insect en dan ga je op internet kijken welk insect zoiets doet.
Ook weer één van de wonderen der natuur maar je moet het maar net zien!! Groetjes Gijs

Wat mooi in beeld gebracht Gijs! Ik realiseer me ook weer eens dat er meer onderwerpen de moeite waard zijn dan alleen vogels. Ik moet er op leren letten.
Dag Henk,als vogelaar zijn je luister en kijksprieten als eerste aan het werk en is het lastig om daar van af te wijken en zeker als
de migratie vogels zijn gearriveerd.Ik zag die rups gekke bewegingen maken en zag toen dat de grote rupsendoder hem aan het
verslepen was.Even later was een andere rupsendoder een andere rups in zijn hol aan het slepen en dit gebeurde allemaal dicht bij
elkaar en had hier heel veel geluk mee.Ja je moet het maar net zien.Fijn weekend nog en blijf je volgen.

Vette opnames. Een heel andere soortgroep dan vogels, maar toch leuk om te zien!
Dag Kyano,leuk dat je even mijn kanaal bezoekt en heb inderdaad even een uitstapje gemaakt naar een andere soortgroep.Vogels blijven wel mij prioriteit maar ben ook
geinteresseerd in het andere natuurleven.Ik film alleen in het natuurgebied de Maashorst en besteed veel tijd aan bijzondere ontdekkingen hier.Zo heb ik de zwarte specht lang
gevolgd en 3 nesten gevonden,Ook dagenlang bij 2 grauwe klauwieren paartjes met 6 jongen geweest en nog veel meer.Te zijner tijd maak ik er een filmpje van.Groetjes Gijs

Wow, a Big Like my friend! #34 - I was totally engrossed in watching and it was over in a flash! They are such hard workers and incredibly strong! They look exactly like what was nesting behind a plastic bird I/D sign, ,in a bird hide on a sandy nature reserve in Spain last year. They were big and buzzing around but in a quite sort of 'none worrying' way, if that makes sense. A great video, thank you Gijs.
