They formed in Florida in the 80s, and that scene was centered in Tampa in the late 80s/early 90s. There was DEATH, ATHEIST, CYNIC, DEICIDE, OBITUARY, MORBID ANGEL, NOCTURNUS, INCUBUS (not the alt pop band), MALEVOLENT CREATION, and then CANNIBAL CORPSE had moved there from Buffalo, NY.
My ex wife was Jamaican our daughter is Canadian.
My daughter and I understand this music.
Our Jamaican family all said this music was the Devils music.
So my daughter and myself decided not too play this music around them.
I completely understand their trepidation with this genre of music.
