No clue why but I started crying when you were talking about going into this industry. I think it was because i just realised how much I want to do this and how important singing and acting is to me. I know it is a bumpy road but I wanna pursue my dream ❤️❤️❤️
Deer Heart this industry is the best one. It lets you express yourself. I love it with everything i have. Currently studying performing arts and I will tell you how amazing it is. So shut up
Hooo boy i have a love hate relationship with quick changes One one side they're really fun because of the adrenaline, but if it goes wrong it's the most stressful thing ever In my last show Across The Universe i ran off stage as the music for "Come Together" started and i had to sing the second verse. I also had to run from stage right and run up and down some stairs to get to my quickchange station, and get on a platform ready to sing in 20 seconds It was crazy My singing was not the best in that scene🤣
Every single time I watch a video like this, or hear an interview, or listen to a song about achieving your dreams and doing what you love, I literally just start sobbing. I don't just want a career in acting. I *need* acting in my life. My mum says I'm not allowed to go to any auditions until I've finished my exams (only a few weeks left) but I've wanted this for so long and I just feel as though I'm never going to get there. Does anyone have any advice x
I’d love to perform in the west end, I love dance and have taken it from age 4 (I’m 15) but have a pretty low voice for a girl so I can’t sing med/high notes in my chest voice. Would this be considered a big no-no for any dance and singing role?
I feel its so hard to be yourself, no matter how hard i try i get knocked back. Its my dream to be on the west end, but all i get off my teachers is it's not real. Thank you xx
I'm not sure why it took me so long to find this but I'm glad I did! I miss this show being in London for me to watch whenever I feel like it. I miss you in it too! Very happy I got to see you play Cynthia so many times. :)
Great video ! I am a dresser in Minneapolis and enjoyed seeing your day from the artists perspective. I loved that you included your quick changes in the video. It would be great if you talk to your viewers more about dressers , the relationship you build with them and how you work together for your quick changes. It so important that artists understand quick changes so they don’t panic - which I have had happen on the last Opera I worked. Even though we had everything quick rigged , my actor would always panic and it made the quick change much more difficult than it needed to be. I LOVE quick changes. I can’t wait to watch more of your videos.
I want to go into acting SO much, but going to a private school my mum told me that if I wanted to go into acting she'd take me out of my school and stop caring about what education I get (which kinda hurt) but honestly your lil talk about doing it if it's what you really want meant more to me than you know. Thank you so much! Such an inspiration
I'm so so passionate about musical theatre and I actually just finished playing "Mama Noah" in "Children of Eden" today!! The talk you gave towards the end of the video really made me feel more confident in myself about going into musical theatre and that you can do what you love for a living so I just wanted to say thank you x
Being on West end is my dream so I actually watch this video like every night with others cause it makes me happy. I know it's the job I want because just watching gives me butterflies. BTW when she brushed that bit of wig up and left it kinda got to me 😅
Hi Georgie, I hope you are well and coping with the panto schedule up in the Pool. I discovered your vlogs recently and now addicted! Lol! I particularly like this video. Not only did you give a good behind the scenes look at a typical day on Beautiful, but because of your dressing room. Let me explain. Back in July 1990, when I was just 17, I was given a ticket to watch a matinee performance of the farce Run for Your Wife at the Aldwych Theatre. Knowing what a big fan I was, my mother wrote to Terry Scott, one of the cast, asking if he would say a quick "hello" or something after the show. He wrote back seeing her would meet me after the performance - and yes, it was in the very same dressing room you had! Seriously! It has hardly changed. I sat with Terry for a good couple of hours chatting about the show, his career and my hopes for my own career in the biz. Then he signed a book for me and prepared to grab some rest on the bed in the corner prior to the evening performance. It looked like the same bed! Lol! I vividly remember Home and Away playing on the TV in background while I was there. You didn't seem to have a telly! Lol! Anyway, I just thought I'd mention it. Thanks for bringing back some great memories. BTW, I produce the Sunday at the Musicals charity concerts (see my pages on Facebook and Twitter) in London and Leicester. I would love to invite you to take part in the next one at the 901-seater Leicester Haymarket Theatre. Should I contact your agent? Or shall I contact you direct? Please let me know. Many thanks, Paul
Hi Paul I’m so sorry I’ve only just seen your message! Oh my goodness that’s amazing! I have such fond memories of that dressing room. Thank you so much! Yes it’s probably best to go through my agent just so that she is aware but it really sounds brilliant. Thanks again! X
Hi I think it’s amazing what you are doing everyday! I’m 15 and desperately want to get into the musical theatre and performing arts business but I don’t know how to start off? My school is doing hairspray this year and I got the lead of Tracy and I am so exited to be performing on stage. 😁
Break a leg! Also I’d suggest getting into amateur theatre productions/groups as this is great experience and will boost your confidence levels! I’m a kid like you and it’s my dream to do musical theatre professionally! I hope this helped!
So I’ve been subscribed/following you for SO long, beautiful is my favourite musical and always find myself coming back to this video. I appreciate you so much Georgia, you’re a day of sunshine ☀️
I really want to be in either hairspray uk tour or grease uk tour but I’m only 14 but when I’m older I’m abit confused of how I sign up to audition? And do I need an agent
Hi, amazing they're both great shows! It does help to have an agent but you can also sign up to things like spotlight and Mandy which are Websites where they post all of the auditions. I hope that is helpful! x
Love this video! Beautiful is my favourite musical (I love Carole King), I recently saw it on tour and cried most of the way through! Thank you for sharing behind the scenes! X
I can say how many times performing in amature theatre, working a full day then doing a show, especially if u are a lead is like running a marathon. J imagine performing in the west end is like a tri athlon. You have my utmost respect xxxx
I started to get very emotional and tear up when you were talking about the audition process and how to get into the industry. singing and acting is my passion, it’s the one thing I always wanted to do for a very long time and sometimes I feel like I’m not good enough but I try my hardest! and this is something I really want to do in the future. I just want to pursue my dream!!! it would be very helpful if you posted a video about how to audition for shows and how to get an agent because that would help me a lot!!
All I want to know (not true I want to know everything) is how many lipsticks changes are there and why you have to change one in the middle of the scene at the beginning?
Thank-you all the world for your honesty, nobody wants to hear that their dream is impossible yet that is what we will all hear at least 20 times. But not you- you are incredible at making people feel deserving and motivated. So thank-you for keeping us big dreamers happy ❤️
1 minute change! Nice! I had a 14 second full change in Guy's and Dolls many years ago Easier for guys as we didn't need to find a hide or a quick change area.
Thank you for sharing your routine Georgie. It is so inspiring! I’m starting some studies by taking singing and dancing classes separately. I live in London and I’m 30 y.o. Unfortunately at the moment I can’t take a full time class. Do you think that it is compulsory to have enough learnings for auditions? Also, what are that best teachers/schools to learn at and be ready for auditions? Thank you so much in advance
Hi! Oh my gosh, I'm the biggest fan of this show! I saw the show on Broadway, in June, 2 times and I just love the charcters Carole and Cynthia and themselves in real life. I wish I could come see you but I haven't been to London since 2012. It's my dream to be in the show, is it so fun to play Cynthia?!!
i have performed in west end's her majestys theatre! unfortunately it was only one night, but i had 2 solo verses and a whole scene with the main character! it was the best night of my life, but it kinda sucks because i am not a strong singer or dancer. ive started to pursue writing because that has been my other passion alongside drama, but secretly i wish i was back on the stage. if i could sing, i would go for it. we'll see what the future holds though ;)
Remember watching this when you first uploaded it and it came up in my recommended it was one of the videos that really made me want to pursue this career! Love your channel such an inspiration! Xx
Hi there! I loved this vlog by the way! I’m currently 12 years old and I love musical theatre. I would love to get into the West End and sing but my voice isn’t very strong and I don’t take voice lessons. When I finish secondary school (which won’t be for another 4 years roughly!😂) would I go to 6th Form or a drama school? Or would I just wait until I’m older to work something out! 😂 Thank you! 💜💜
Omg, I'm literally in the exact same situation! What I'm kinda doing is joining any youth theatres or school productions in my area, and kind of establishing a "sweet soprano" sort of role, in and out of scenes.
I’m currently in sixth form taking Drama and Performing arts then am hoping to go on and study at a drama school once I’ve finished sixth form. Most professional drama schools accept students from ages 18+
Do everything you can. If you can afford to have a few singing lessons, definitely do, join as many productions and choirs as you can, just never turn down an opportunity to perform. It's hard work but experience and practice is key!
So I've just turned 16 and I'm doing GCSE drama. I'm in an out of school pantomime group and have been in a choir fro 5 years but other than that I've had no training in singing or dance and I'm not the best singer. I'm doing BTEC performing arts at college but I just don't know if I have enough experience/'time to become triple threat and get into drama school after college. Can you go to uni first to do something like performing arts as training and then apply to drama school, does it put you in a better situation for working in theatre? I'm just confused and scared of pursuing what I want to do and then not being able to because of lack of training. (Sorry if this is rambling) x
In February I was lucky enough to get the chance to perform on the West End. I go to PQA which is an acting group for kids and they put shows on with PQA groups from all over the country.I performed in Her Majesty's Theatre where Phantom of the Opera is. They stopped it for one night for us to perform our show.
Keira Hemingway Her Majesty’s let lots of groups use their theatre on a Sunday when there is no evening performance. I have performed there a number of times myself. It’s the same with the Adelphi in my experience.
@@pastelrose9980 ye Ik that's I'm just saying I was lucky because they only allow our pqa groups to do it every so often because there are so many groups around the country and I am in the older group so by the time it comes round next time I probably won't be there any longer. Plus we have both am and pm groups I am in the pm so next time it will be the am groups turn to perform.
this is my dream i’ve been dancing since i was 4 and i want to go professionally and dance on either west end or broadway!! my goal is to be on broadway ❤️
You worked on Beautiful at the Aldwych Theatre? No way. So did I! (Well, for the first year. I was backstage crew, and I helped with the get-in for the show.) A small world, indeed. How did you find it? Were you there for very long?
Georgie i admire u so much and thanks to u I joined the best theatre in my area .thank you so much.i loved this video so much that ive wathed it about 7 or 8 times. can u please keep making videos like this.thank u . ps :I hope u see this bye
Hiii yaaa , I’m really thinking in getting into musical theatre, even though I’m only 15 I’ve been in as many school productions as I possibly could 😂 including lion king , les miserable, rent , newsies , west side story , Hamilton and hairspray , also I live in England , any good universities ? Will a degree in drama or a degree in musical theatre help me better ? Xx
What agent do you use and how much do you get payed? Also I you do theatre as a career what do you have to take at college and does it act like a cv to who ever your auditioning for. Love your videos too xxxx
I guessed the show so impressed with myself. Always really weird watching people warm up. Love the guy in the backgrounds really flexible yoga pose. It look like you only did your joint rotations in one direction you should do them in both.
It's my biggest dream to work in a West End Production, or even Broadway🥺. But I'm actually from Austria, so.. yeah, not much chance to actually go there (I'm 17). but my biggest dream role is to be Christine Daae one day and I can actually hit the notes and sing like her (I am classically trained too) , but I don't know, if I could ever be her, since I don't really have the body type for her 😢 but it's never bad to dream, right?
This is really helpful to know what order to do things when getting ready for shows - often in school it got done for us (like when I did CATS in 6th form) or we were left to our own designs (like in Chess where we had around 45 mins to get ready for the whole show and the whole cast was in beginners (also we had to stay sidestage cause of the set) so hopefully when I do Thoroughly Modern Millie it'll be betterin terms of getting ready!
I'm from Portugal and I really dream being an actress of musical theater but unfortunately where, the musical theater is very disadvantaged so I really hope can getting in a good university in London but now I'm only 15 so I need wait and make some performers in my academy
Ella Holden-King If you’re nervous about auditions just remember to breath and relax your neck and shoulders. This also applies to preforming shows. Just remember that you can do anything if you work hard enough!
How do I explain my relationship with quick changes??!!!!!! In my last show it was a panto and we had to go from these leotards with a long chiffon skirt and ballet shoes, to another leotard that was button up, a layered petti coat, a skirt, a corset type thing that wasn’t a corset but looked like a corset and then a pair of character shoes. In about 1 minute!!!!!! Edit: But I do love them hahah
Reece Fielding in all honesty they make you kind-of audition even for stage hands. But it’s not as serious as main roles. So don’t worry! 😃 You can absolutely refuse to by saying you only want to be backstage, but you do want to act yes? So it’s better you audition cause there’s a chance you might end up being casted!!
I am starting a town production tomorrow and performing next month with singing, how do I get the nerves out? I'm a bit of an introvert too so I am scared but I really love Broadway and acting
how I do it is by imagining that everyone in the audience is naked because then they can't be more embarrassed than me, also remember that normally no one in the audience will know the play/ musical fully so they won't notice if you forget a line. hope this helps and good luck!
Hey Georgie!! I really love the videos and have watched this one about 5 times now! XD I want to have a career in theatre but I get stage fright - do you have any tips to combat these nerves? xx
This sounds stupid but if you go to drama school or university and take a course, do they teach you to sing? Just because I’d love to go into musical theatre but let’s just say my voice is not the best 😂
Hi, it's not stupid at all! It really depends on the school! At the College I went to we had singing lessons every week but I'm not sure it's the same everywhere. I'd say if you want to improve your voice then maybe look around for a local singing teacher? That way you'll feel more comfortable and confident with your voice and it will help you when you do start a course somewhere :)
Georgie Ashford thank you so much for replying! I think I will and I might do it with my friend because she’s interested in it too. Thank you for the help!
i know i’m two years late but, i’ve done stagecoach for 8 years and i really want to perform in west end when i’m older! i do drama and dance gcse so hopefully that helps. but my voice range is quite low and i don’t consider myself the strongest singer. should i still go for it?!
Hi Georgie, I absolutely love your channel and your kind spirit. I really want to do Acting. I have no formal experience. I moved to London in December and finally want to listen to my heart and apply for drama school. Is there an age limit to go to drama school. Wats your best advice for someone like me who has no prior acting experience?
This is super interesting!!!!! I've always been into musical theatre and dance, but never really considered it as a career until late last year. At 17, would you say it's a little late to go into musical theatre dance (ballet, tap, jazz) when I've never tried it before????
Not to sound stupid, but what show is she in? no tittle of what we are watching her in and what the show is? very hard to get into this backstage tour thing without knowing what shw it is?
Hey there! I came to see your show a while back but just stumbled across your UA-cam channel on here while looking for advice on getting to drama school! I was lucky enough to get a lil backstage tour with Robbie (one of the musicians) who is the dad of my friend! ❤️ Anyway I just wanted to say you were absolutely wonderful! Do you have any other tips for young hopefuls? I'm 17! Thank you for your time, I know you are very busy ♥ ✨ 🌼
Oh thank you so much! That's so cool! What did you think of backstage? I think my biggest tips are to get as much experience as you can and to wholeheartedly believe in yourself! xx
One day I want to be able to say “I’m going to work” and mean the theatre🥺❣️
🤗
Me too
Same here, that would be awesome
Sameeee
me too! 🤞
No clue why but I started crying when you were talking about going into this industry. I think it was because i just realised how much I want to do this and how important singing and acting is to me. I know it is a bumpy road but I wanna pursue my dream ❤️❤️❤️
What a lovely message! I’m so happy you feel that way! Follow your dreams! 💖💖💖
its not a bumpy rod its a waste of time
Deer Heart says the person who has wasted their time giving their unwanted opinion just because they personally don’t like the industry, get a life.
Deer Heart this industry is the best one. It lets you express yourself. I love it with everything i have. Currently studying performing arts and I will tell you how amazing it is. So shut up
I feel the exakt same way. This video made realize how much I actually want to do this in life!! Although, it seems kind of impossible
Anyone else from 2019 and got this is there recommended?
Bo Benning meeeeee
Yesss
yes!
Yep
Yep

Never give up ❤️ I actually work in a theater at the moment and the only bad thing you can do, is to give up and lose your way
I’d love to perform in the west end, I love dance and have taken it from age 4 (I’m 15) but have a pretty low voice for a girl so I can’t sing med/high notes in my chest voice.
Would this be considered a big no-no for any dance and singing role?
Absolutely not! There's loads of different styles of show for different voices out there :)
I feel its so hard to be yourself, no matter how hard i try i get knocked back. Its my dream to be on the west end, but all i get off my teachers is it's not real. Thank you xx
It is hard but you have to!!! Keep believing in yourself and never change who you are because you feel pressure! You CAN do it!! Xx
Are you like, the nicest person in the world??! You seem so talented, dedicated and this video was extremely helpful so thankyou x
@A B C unnecessary? i agree with the first comment lol
Gosh there are so many changes! Wow! You do so well :D
Thank you! :)
I'm not sure why it took me so long to find this but I'm glad I did! I miss this show being in London for me to watch whenever I feel like it. I miss you in it too! Very happy I got to see you play Cynthia so many times. :)

This was super cool to hear and listen to, and when u started to talk about how you have to be all in I got super hyped and excited!😂
Hey I’m really interested in the west end and I was wondering for some tips x
This is great as an actor myself it's amazing to see what goes on behind the scenes
So many costume changes, it must be so stressful!
I binge watch theatre vlogs almost every night so hi!!
I LOVED this video! Thanks so much 💕

Do everything you can. If you can afford to have a few singing lessons, definitely do, join as many productions and choirs as you can, just never turn down an opportunity to perform. It's hard work but experience and practice is key!
There's something special in this profession, there' a camlness being in a theatre, even working at box office
I loved this! Thank you so much for sharing! 💕🎭 xo
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for watching xx
this is my dream i’ve been dancing since i was 4 and i want to go professionally and dance on either west end or broadway!! my goal is to be on broadway ❤️
Amazing!!! xx
Oooh, were you in the same production as Leigh Lothian? I went to college with her in Motherwell doing our HND MT.
You worked on Beautiful at the Aldwych Theatre? No way. So did I! (Well, for the first year. I was backstage crew, and I helped with the get-in for the show.) A small world, indeed. How did you find it? Were you there for very long?
Watching this video, I realized I saw you in this show. Loved it!
Georgie i admire u so much and thanks to u I joined the best theatre in my area .thank you so much.i loved this video so much that ive wathed it about 7 or 8 times. can u please keep making videos like this.thank u . ps :I hope u see this bye
Thank you so much! That's amazing! I'll do my best, I'm so glad you enjoyed it :)
Xx
Hi that sounds amazing, good for you! Yes there’s lots of good universities you could go to! A degree course can really help as well yes xx
How have you been in Hamilton?
England has some of the top conservatories for acting/ musical theater in the world!!
Guildford is quite good google it, they specifically do a musical theatre at guildford
Albert Williams look at drama schools rather than university because they're more recognised by agents and casting directors
What agent do you use and how much do you get payed? Also I you do theatre as a career what do you have to take at college and does it act like a cv to who ever your auditioning for. Love your videos too xxxx
I love this industry and this was really helpful to understand what it is like. Thanks you!! ❤️❤️❤️
But I'm actually from Austria, so.. yeah, not much chance to actually go there (I'm 17). but my biggest dream role is to be Christine Daae one day and I can actually hit the notes and sing like her (I am classically trained too) , but I don't know, if I could ever be her, since I don't really have the body type for her 😢 but it's never bad to dream, right?
i'm doing amateur dramatics, loving it; dancing, singing and actingg
I've done am dram once then covid hit. Can't wait to do it again after covid. I did panto. I was 12
This is really helpful to know what order to do things when getting ready for shows - often in school it got done for us (like when I did CATS in 6th form) or we were left to our own designs (like in Chess where we had around 45 mins to get ready for the whole show and the whole cast was in beginners (also we had to stay sidestage cause of the set) so hopefully when I do Thoroughly Modern Millie it'll be betterin terms of getting ready!
I'm so glad it was helpful :) Thoroughly Modern Millie is a great show I hope it goes well!
Hii, I love ur videos and was wondering how you managed to find the audition and what stuff you do in the musical? ❤️❤️
Hi thank you so much! I have an agent who gets me the auditions and I do lots of different things depending on the musical :) x
I performed at the Shaftesbury theatre in west end last Sunday
Oh amazing! Hope it went well!
I'm from Portugal and I really dream being an actress of musical theater but unfortunately where, the musical theater is very disadvantaged so I really hope can getting in a good university in London but now I'm only 15 so I need wait and make some performers in my academy
Best of luck with it!! 💖💖💖
I really really needed that pep talk at the end 😭😭😭😭😭💕💕💕💕
💖💖💖
hi! what tips would you give to someone who loves performing and would like a career in theatre but has confidence issues? thank you x
Ella Holden-King If you’re nervous about auditions just remember to breath and relax your neck and shoulders. This also applies to preforming shows. Just remember that you can do anything if you work hard enough!
Thanks for the honest truth I'm not in showbiz but used to think it was well paid and glamorous but really hard work
How do I explain my relationship with quick changes??!!!!!!
Love videos like this! really inspires my creativity :)
I’m 12.. I got got into my first west end show!! I’ll be playing the role of Jane Banks in Mary Poppins! Got any tips?? 💗😊
can you still get into musical theatre if you study drama/theatre at uni? x
Yes absolutely! X
Georgie, do you have to audition for ensemble because I wanna work my way up to the top from my he bottom?
Reece Fielding in all honesty they make you kind-of audition even for stage hands. But it’s not as serious as main roles. So don’t worry! 😃
You can absolutely refuse to by saying you only want to be backstage, but you do want to act yes? So it’s better you audition cause there’s a chance you might end up being casted!!
Fascinating video...thank you !!
I’m auditioning for stage schools next year. What do you believe would be the best schools to train at? Where did you train?
Georgie your so pretty 💖💕in every single video and any costume you always look stunning! 😍💗xxx
Oh that is so lovely of you!! Thank you! Xxx
I love this so much!!
i know i’m two years late but, i’ve done stagecoach for 8 years and i really want to perform in west end when i’m older! i do drama and dance gcse so hopefully that helps. but my voice range is quite low and i don’t consider myself the strongest singer. should i still go for it?!
Cynthia is a dream role of mine!!!
I want to do this when I finish school but don't know how to get their any advicex
Where did you train? I’m dying to end up on west end as a dancer
Hi from Madeira Beach, Florida, enjoying your video. Charming & cute You are. 👍🏻
Why was there a pic of London palladium in the pic on the vid but then it’s not London palladium
Loved your video. Are you allowed to say the-show and who you playing?
Hi Georgie, I absolutely love your channel and your kind spirit. I really want to do Acting. I have no formal experience. I moved to London in December and finally want to listen to my heart and apply for drama school. Is there an age limit to go to drama school. Wats your best advice for someone like me who has no prior acting experience?
This is super interesting!!!!! I've always been into musical theatre and dance, but never really considered it as a career until late last year. At 17, would you say it's a little late to go into musical theatre dance (ballet, tap, jazz) when I've never tried it before????
I don’t think it’s ever too late to do anything!! Go for it!
What show is this? and what character were you? X
The show is Beautiful: The Carole King Musical at the Aldwych Theatre, London and the character is Cynthia Weil xx
That’s amazing thank you I’m going to College this year and I’m taking BTEC performing arts and you are living the life I wish I could live x
What musical did u perform btw it’s 2019
It looks like she is playing Cynthia Weil in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.
I want to be in the west end when I'm older!
Does anyone know where she got her dressing gown from? My goodness is looking incredibly comfortable and so cute!
It’s from m&s :) xx
Not to sound stupid, but what show is she in? no tittle of what we are watching her in and what the show is? very hard to get into this backstage tour thing without knowing what shw it is?
Hi! Do you think being tall will greatly effect getting roles in musical theater? I want to pursue theater but I'm 5'9. Also I loved the vlog!!😊😊
I'm not Georgie, but Sutton Foster is 5'9! It might for some roles, but don't let it discourage you!
I think my biggest tips are to get as much experience as you can and to wholeheartedly believe in yourself! xx
@@GeorgieAshford it was incredible! I'd have had no idea there were so many wigs in one show! Thank you so much 😊 ❤️
Please, how do you go. about working back stage and being a voice over please?
