Back 30 years ago when a cousin and I were in Jr.high school. My cousin half the time would start talking about "Tiger Oscar,Tiger Oscar" cause it was his favorite aquarium pet fish.Never seen one yet till about 1989 when we were in high school and I came over his house,he finally got one.
Red Tiger Oscars were an established strain by 1970. I first saw one at San Francisco's Steinhart Aquarium in 1967. This fish was breathing rapidly and likely had a systemic infection and/or impacted gut.
Great video. One you didn’t mention I also like is the Bumblebee Oscar. Looks nice with the yellow and black stripes and they get big but not as big as the common Oscar
I got my Red Tiger Oscar at around an inch and a half long, named him "Mac" (then eventually "Big Mac." - Yes, he liked hamburger.) I enjoyed him, he grew in his 50 gallon tank to 9-1/2+ inches long. I eventually sold him to a good home along with his tank when I had to move. I was sure sorry to lose him. He was healthy, and handsome, and had a lot of personality. I enjoyed your video, thank you.
I think they are happiest when raised together as juveniles and then kept in a group. I have noticed a marked difference when doing it this way. They seem to stay happy. But they are often kept alone and I don't think this is the best way to keep them.
When I was Younger. My dad used to love Oscars, we had Three. They were Great, all three used to have so much personality. 1) Tiger Oscar (Boss of the Tank) 2) Albino Oscar (Sassy Girl of the Tank) 3) Veil Balloon Oscar (The DERP of the tank)
I did not Know tiger Oscars can get that Big, We bought 3 of them and the Guy Said ABSOLUTELY Nothing about them getting this huge... Well if it survives and lives to be that large I'm selling it for Mulah.
Im new to Oscars, well, the fish pet/hobby really... Ive prepped my tank for a month letting cycle. All water testing is perfect for Oscar levels. No substrate for now seems to be what mine like (freedom maybe). No lid and one clip light in the middle of the tank. I have all 3 of them in one 120 gallon tank... I believe (I'm colorblind) mine are either the Red or Gold Oscars. I would appreciate advice for aquarium safe decor and feeding. Also, advantage/disadvantage in having live plants with them. I haven't seen many videos with live plants at all, only fake.
So can a red and golden oscar mate? Or a tiger oscar and short bodied oscar? Which ones are different species and which are just different traits of the same one?
my albino oscar is sick😭 he's just laying at the bottom of the tank and he has not eaten since almost 2weeks.. and he's eyes turning into like orange or red spots.. what should i do? please help
I'm no professional but I'd do a water change and if he or it hasn't eat in in two weeks I would definitely try to keep him on the go. Meaning not aggravate but mess wit him to keep it responding also maybe that would build its appetite back up. I'm no professional but it's What I would do along with going to a veterinarian
2.5 ft ka tank hai to usmai kitni oscar fish rakh saktai hai. Aur ha mere tank mai 1 black ghost, 1 peleco, 1redtail shark, 2 electric white chiklet hai to mai kitni oscar pic buy karu
I have a middle size orange and black ocsor he's mainly black and is very territorial and I have a one eyed albino tiger oscor he's half blind and is really big but as I said he is blind as a bat and gets bullied by the middle one but stands his ground if he can see the other Oscar I also have a jack demsy in my 55 tank also some guppies I'm going to get a knife fish plz tell me if he's ok to be in the tank with them and if he's a agressive fish
In reality, these are all the same TYPE of oscar. What you are distinguishing are different COLOR VARIETIES of oscars. These color varieties all require the same care, they grow to the same size, and they all have the same behavior. Similarly, people who write about types of angelfish are usually talking about the COLOR VARIETIES of angelfish. There ARE three recognized species of angelfish but the vast majority are the one species, P, scalare, and all the different colors of angelfish are the same TYPE. With oscars, there some species other than A. ocellarus, but they are very very very rare in the aquarium hobby. And if you have two red oscars who spawn, the babies will not all turn out to be red oscars. Some babies will look like red oscars, some will look more like tiger stripes, and others will have a color pattern all their own. Again, just like angelfish and their babies. So these are not different TYPES. They are different COLOR VARIETIES.
Es una locura ver tanta belleza sobre todo los oscars que para mi gusto personal son los Reyes del acuario agua dulce y porque no decirlo sin tapujos también de agua salobre y de Agus salada nada hay de más elegancia que unos oscars. Gracias.
They also forgot the marble Oscars, black & white in a marble effect, I had a couple of these back in the day as well as the tiger, red, albino, and albino tiger
At my parent's old fish store, we always had medium-sized Oscar fish for sale. Tons of them. As a kid, I would frequently stick my entire hand in the tank and they would go to town, but their bites were like hard nibbles, so not that painful. Cool little guys.
When i was a kid my mom got me two one albino one tiger but the oscar had issues it killed the other then we put it in a bigger tank and got another oscar but it was small and he killed it the tiger oscar ate everything thats swims inside his tank
+Eru Eru I'm not do that on my fish I have seen several post about the blue oscar and unfortunately all that i have read about them suggest that they are dyed that nice blue color.
I sold a blueberry at 2 inches early 2000, paid $16 for it sold alive for $150, if dead for 80$, made my $150, and it grew out the blue and the owner is happy
I felt the same way too bro i came a long wat may and now finally I have a 150g tank 48"x2ftx31" it's a monster in person ain't no joke lol. Just resealed it yesterday gonna wait until Sunday afternoon for it to be at least 2 full days of dry then gonna clean it up and set it up until I get everything for it 😎💯
Great video. Oscars are the most interesting fish in my opinion .they have a personality of their own. i have 3 albino tigers and 1 albino Red oscar.
Thanks
Thanks for taking you time to make this video for us. I did not know most of the names that you mentioned and the oscars are beautiful!
What's the background music?
I love it!
TheXtro101 you sound like my dad when he saw my oscat
Red Tiger Oscars were an established strain by 1970. I first saw one at San Francisco's Steinhart Aquarium in 1967. This fish was breathing rapidly and likely had a systemic infection and/or impacted gut.
That golden Oscar was stunning with its black finnage with a white border. Beautiful!
That's copper oscar
The Blueberry Oscar's are a very beautiful cichlid!!!👍🐟💧🐳👏👏👏✌
Golden Oscar looks stunning. Definitely getting one of those.
I have 2 Golden Oscars and in the sun light they are just stunning.
Can anyone tell me why and when there is a black trimming at the oscar's fin?
It’s probably normal if it’s a Lutino
Good video . I have 5 Oscars / 2 lutino / 1 red / 1albino tiger and another albino .
Oscars are my favorite fish because they have a personality.
Jamison Kozak So do bettas
JK RC there are many cichlids that have a ton of personality
I could argue that flowerhorn has just as much personality but I like oscars the tiniest bit more
U hv made that video from viva vivo pro
Goldfish have a personality too. Don't call them dumb..
wow....super shots....we used to have a lot of Oscars....it's been a while....may have to get them again.....
I got 3 white albinos with gold stripes I’ve never seen something more beautiful
Great video. One you didn’t mention I also like is the Bumblebee Oscar. Looks nice with the yellow and black stripes and they get big but not as big as the common Oscar

Forgot de isle black Oscar. Forgot de name of dim,but eye had two bee four.
I have 15 Oscar fish...Tiger albino...Paris red n gold paris
These Oscars are pretty calm even with fish of a different kind.
slow oscars tend to be unhappy, you’ll know they’re happy if they are constantly swimming fastly
Thats is a nice Oscar collection👍🏻🤗
I can't tell you how many times I have watched this video. I just love it. I love my oscars.
I have 2 lutino red thank u very much fr the video
I got my Red Tiger Oscar at around an inch and a half long, named him "Mac" (then eventually "Big Mac." - Yes, he liked hamburger.) I enjoyed him, he grew in his 50 gallon tank to 9-1/2+ inches long. Whered you get the super reds??
Where do I get them
What kind of fish is the blue one in the tank with the red Oscar 2:15
Jack Dempsey
Hi I'm Jimmy,I love the BigBadRedOscaras!
Oscar is a beautiful fish but I don't know if it's just my idea: They look sad in the tanks...
George Arias same let them eat some small fish...... And try to stand it in near motor.
George Arias Oscars are just naturally grumpy fish
But all fish live longer in tanks then in the wilded and that’s a fact
@@dmptcb living longer and being happy aren't the same thing. That being said, I think oscars can be content in a large enough tank
I think they are happiest when raised together as juveniles and then kept in a group. I have noticed a marked difference when doing it this way. They seem to stay happy. But they are often kept alone and I don't think this is the best way to keep them.

Dude the lemon Oscars look like the color of lemonade but these guys have a large aquarium of Oscars
So can a red and golden oscar mate? Or a tiger oscar and short bodied oscar? Which ones are different species and which are just different traits of the same one?
A big long finned Oscar would be high on my list for a monster tank. Personality,looks..all there. Made for Aquariums too.
Is blueberry a real variety of manmade?
Bumblebee ocars aren't seen or mentioned.
Super oscar
Love oscars 🥰 lemon 🍋 are my favorite
But its very rare to find

baloon oscar look so cute. Their shape look like blood parrot fish.
These fish do not survive because they are artificially made by a brutal process

The original wild specimen was green. I had a wild caught green "Tiger" he was stunning but jumped out the tank one day when No one was home...

Normal. They do that when they're hungry.

I have a 150 gallon tank and im thinking of getting an oscar ... if so what fish could i keep with it?
Sarah Bradford Arowana,Silver dollars,Blood parrots or Peacock bass
Convicts can also be with oscars
Blue Oscar aren't dyed. They're more of a grey color which they market as blue. There's also a velvet jet black variety that's infrequently available.
They also forgot the marble Oscars, black & white in a marble effect, I had a couple of these back in the day as well as the tiger, red, albino, and albino tiger
Are these 12 interbreedable?
I have a mixed oscars not sure what tho he looks like a gold Oscar mixed with a tiger oscar but no stripes

All types of Oscar are available in India?

if you have to dye your fish, you have failed as a fishbreeder
+Eru Eru
I'm not do that on my fish
I have seen several post about the blue oscar and unfortunately all that i have read about them suggest that they are dyed that nice blue color.

One day I'm going to get a big aquarium 100+ gallons and have two of them.
Ryan Thomas you won't regret it.
A 90 gallon for 2 will work. Oscar's are still some of the coolest cichlids which stay at a somewhat manageable size!
