Back 30 years ago when a cousin and I were in Jr.high school.My cousin half the time would start talking about "Tiger Oscar,Tiger Oscar" cause it was his favorite aquarium pet fish.Never seen one yet till about 1989 when we were in high school and I came over his house,he finally got one.

Great video. One you didn’t mention I also like is the Bumblebee Oscar. Looks nice with the yellow and black stripes and they get big but not as big as the common Oscar

But all fish live longer in tanks then in the wilded and that’s a fact
@@dmptcb living longer and being happy aren't the same thing. That being said, I think oscars can be content in a large enough tank
I think they are happiest when raised together as juveniles and then kept in a group. I have noticed a marked difference when doing it this way. They seem to stay happy. But they are often kept alone and I don't think this is the best way to keep them.

When I was Younger. My dad used to love Oscars, we had Three. They were Great, all three used to have so much personality.
1) Tiger Oscar (Boss of the Tank)
2) Albino Oscar (Sassy Girl of the Tank)
3) Veil Balloon Oscar (The DERP of the tank)

I got my Red Tiger Oscar at around an inch and a half long, named him "Mac" (then eventually "Big Mac." - Yes, he liked hamburger.) I enjoyed him, he grew in his 50 gallon tank to 9-1/2+ inches long. I eventually sold him to a good home along with his tank when I had to move. I was sure sorry to lose him. He was healthy, and handsome, and had a lot of personality. I enjoyed your video, thank you.

Im new to Oscars, well, the fish pet/hobby really... Ive prepped my tank for a month letting cycle. All water testing is perfect for Oscar levels. No substrate for now seems to be what mine like (freedom maybe). No lid and one clip light in the middle of the tank. I have all 3 of them in one 120 gallon tank... I believe (I'm colorblind) mine are either the Red or Gold Oscars.
I would appreciate advice for aquarium safe decor and feeding. Also, advantage/disadvantage in having live plants with them. I haven't seen many videos with live plants at all, only fake.

At my parent's old fish store, we always had medium-sized Oscar fish for sale. Tons of them. As a kid, I would frequently stick my entire hand in the tank and they would go to town, but their bites were like hard nibbles, so not that painful. Cool little guys.

Blue Oscar aren't dyed. They're more of a grey color which they market as blue. There's also a velvet jet black variety that's infrequently available.
They also forgot the marble Oscars, black & white in a marble effect, I had a couple of these back in the day as well as the tiger, red, albino, and albino tiger

When i was a kid my mom got me two one albino one tiger but the oscar had issues it killed the other then we put it in a bigger tank and got another oscar but it was small and he killed it the tiger oscar ate everything thats swims inside his tank
my albino oscar is sick😭 he's just laying at the bottom of the tank and he has not eaten since almost 2weeks.. and he's eyes turning into like orange or red spots.. what should i do? please help
I'm no professional but I'd do a water change and if he or it hasn't eat in in two weeks I would definitely try to keep him on the go. Meaning not aggravate but mess wit him to keep it responding also maybe that would build its appetite back up. I'm no professional but it's What I would do along with going to a veterinarian

I have seen several post about the blue oscar and unfortunately all that i have read about them suggest that they are dyed that nice blue color.

They started that blueberry when they started that neon tetra be in early 2000
I sold a blueberry at 2 inches early 2000, paid $16 for it sold alive for $150, if dead for 80$, made my $150, and it grew out the blue and the owner is happy
I have a middle size orange and black ocsor he's mainly black and is very territorial and I have a one eyed albino tiger oscor he's half blind and is really big but as I said he is blind as a bat and gets bullied by the middle one but stands his ground if he can see the other Oscar I also have a jack demsy in my 55 tank also some guppies I'm going to get a knife fish plz tell me if he's ok to be in the tank with them and if he's a agressive fish

A 90 gallon for 2 will work. Oscar's are still some of the coolest cichlids which stay at a somewhat manageable size!
I felt the same way too bro i came a long wat may and now finally I have a 150g tank 48"x2ftx31" it's a monster in person ain't no joke lol. Just resealed it yesterday gonna wait until Sunday afternoon for it to be at least 2 full days of dry then gonna clean it up and set it up until I get everything for it 😎💯
