So, the ignorant cancer is spreading beyond Greece's borders! I'll prepare a clip to counterARGUE (he doesn't even argue, he just makes empty statements like "the misanthropy of Capitalism") his content here. If I remember I'll link it here.
@@C_R_O_M________ I hope you get that cancer.
@@C_R_O_M________ Still waiting for the counter argument.
Basically he explained 2007-2020 in 5 minutes.
We needed political reforms, and better investment strategies of public funds.
The strategic use of public funds must be voted on to avoid misuse and bad economic decisions !
epSos.de He didn’t explain a thing! Just arbitrary and unsubstantiated statements.
The 2008 crisis effected finance and property sectors two of the most legislated and monitored industries around , can't blame that on capitalism .
@@PabloTBrave he'll blame everything on capitalism because he sells this product to attract voters and money. Just like every professional politician out there he's building a "customer base". The people in here, cheering for him, either have vested interests themselves or they have been fooled by the narrative.
Varoufakis will never talk about the role of Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs) like Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and their unbelievably irresponsible operation in airing the housing bubble up. These guys bought loans from first-line lender as soon as the former issued them. This distorted the market greatly by taking all the risk away from first-line lenders so that they needn't screen the people they were giving the loans to (because FM&FM will take them off their hands immediately!). Brilliant eh?
Greece is not exactly leading the way for better investment.
The most mismanaged country in the EU and the most corrupt.
The biggest EU handout for just 11 million population.
Varoufakis should get his own house in order first.
He wanted the EU bailout money to Greece to be written off ! 😁
@@C_R_O_M________ They became "irresponsible" when they were tasked to make a profit. I suppose you being an American, your views are provincial and thus can't see yourself and this country the way that others see it?
'Hopelessness, poverty, and iPhones.'
Definitely brilliant juxtaposition 😅
Hopelessness is a true feature of Capitalist society
And toooo many people. Check the slums you will find more babies than adults.

Me too. This man gives me hope x
Astonishing how easy he fooled you to take your money!!! Exactly like the bankers he talks about
More of an act of desperation which is exactly what he cultivates in you. Note that he only focuses on the vague and distant problems and not the ones you face in your everyday life and which are the ones you can remedy with personal effort. A professional politician always want you to work for him! Remember that!
@@benbell9170 hope you have a good day :)
Worst part is the cronyism where governments and central banks are giving trillions to bankers and mega corporations. Small business get shut down and workers go unemployed, forced to a life in poverty. If they're going to print the money anyway, why not let it go to where it's needed instead of the billionaires??
@@KB-uy3lv haha i can't because that's not communism, oligarchs can only exist within a system of undemocratic distribution of rewards. Trying to separate oligarchs and captialism is like trying to separate air from oxygen
@@marketsocialist6421 You making a fool of your self, oligarchy is natural to humans as it is in chimps, coalitions form and take power and subjugate the minority till it is toppled down by an other power hungry coalition/oligarchy.
Thinking that communism will be any diffrent, no actualy it will be worse as you will give absolute power to simple humans who will be absolutly corrupt by it.
@@santoud leadership is natural to humans as it is to chimps, having a system that allows humans to choose their leadership to question it collectively at any given time to have them actively participate in the organization of their own lives prevents people from being able to come in and use enslavement like systems that create undemocratic power to take over as we have done in the past, you need systems both Economically and Polictically designed against tyranny, we only designed one that way (our constitution/bill of rights) but no one wanted to change the undemocratic economic system and peferred the mimicry of Master/Slave, Lord/Serf with Employer/Employee instead of having each individual have democractic control within the organization they participate (we have democracy within our government but not our businesses) so of course over time the business use their undemocratic "power" to undue any democracy and w/e else is in its way of its own goals (under captialism its profit)
Im not saying oligarchy won't happen im saying lets design an economic system like our political system was designed against it, not go o well it's natural let leave captialism be and just expect someone to horribly abuse it every 30-50 years
@@marketsocialist6421 The revolution is not complete, I agree with you. Your constitution is one of the best of the world for sure. It's not complet as you pinpointed a great problem. Nice to see i'm not alone ... Thanks.
Edit.
I comme from an ex-communist country, communism is a fairy tale don't believe it, or like the sirens in Odyseus it will kill you with their fantastic voices.
Edit2 : what you are talking about is democratic rule in the business world. Or absolut democracy. Communism is an other beast, it only will work for machines/robots/ia .

We need to move beyond Capitalism and to a system that works for the many and not just the few.
That sounds like code for socialism to me. I think I'll pass, but I swear I won't try to stop you from moving to Venezuela.
@Granville's Hammer How interesting... life must be great over there, but I don't see anybody moving in. I've seen millions moving out, though, just like people escape from Cuba when they can. Venezuelans are everywhere in South America, but especially in Chile, the most prosperous economy in the continent -- how strange. So when are you moving to your South American socialist paradise? I'll chip in for the ticket if you promise to stay. You commies are crazy, and as Yuri Bezmenov said, no amount of evidence will ever be enough to convince you. You're also a pack of losers.
Granville's Hammer when was the last time you went to see it for your own eyes? Have you been to Xingjiang or talked to the Uighur population and seen the CCP crisis directly in the fear that the live everyday? Capitalist system is far from perfect and socialism is a better idea (in theory) but when greed and corruption enter, it’s all gone. Huge problem in my personal opinion is the corporate greed, that made countries use their people to become slaves of corporations, to have a crazy growth of population without any measure of consequences if they can or can’t afford to have more children that in the future could become into thieves or god knows what (not their fault), to legalize drugs and to kill the cartels right at the heart of their business and teach people to be responsible of their own actions. There are many truths out there, too many sides to consider. I think before giving big statements people need to acknowledge that they have been fed too many lies and need critical thinking (people see sadly more value in a Cardi B that is proud to have drugged and robbed men, than to people that defend true ideals not bound by left or right or corporations ) from their own side and from others before talking out loud an idea....travel has been my best school and I encourage you not to believe but to travel and form your own opinion based on being as neutral as you can before you make your own choice. Have a nice day
The few are the few for a reason. They're too lazy to get ahead and it's easier to complain about ''the bankers''.
@@chesshooligan1282 Go find your Hitler & tango away.
Comedy Central needs to jump on this and get this man a special before its too late
I totally agree with you! We need to unite and fight back!
Problem is not capitalism, but the intermix of state, legislation and corporations - which is closer to socialism.
Utter nonsense, we've had decades of political elites telling us markets know best, nationalised industry doesn't work and we need to privatise everything under the sun. A doctrine they have strictly followed and ruthlessly executed. Trade unions have been demonised and diminished as well as workers rights and progressive taxation. Tax cuts and off shore havens for the wealthy are constantly enabled by our political establishment. All of those things are the literal opposite of socialist, all socialists oppose them and want to do the exact opposite.
When the state works hand in hand with corporations to extract wealth from the people it is not socialism but capitalism, its propaganda about free & fair competition is just that, propaganda. The state has always worked with (or sometimes more accurately for) the large corporations and businesses in capitalist economies going all the way back to the East India Company. Its time to learn
@@funbarsolaris2822 Well no, they tell us "capitalism is the less worst system" and that it need to be "regulated" because it bad. They increased taxes, they rescue and subsidize corporations with taxpayer money. They regulate all sectors in a way only a few corporations can operate. They tell corporations how to work and they guarantee the profit and socialize the looses.
They tell you all the things I said before is unregulated capitalism and that we need more regulations and planning, so they can remain in power doing the same, stealing workers money. Business men are they enemies of capitalism, they want a public contract a subside and regulations to keep competition away.
Capitalism is property rights, free trade, deflation. The opposite of what we have.
Short and clear Thanks.
I will be sending this to both sides of our Government here in Australia!
The one thing Yanis stands out from Anand Giridharadas and Noam Chomsky is that he ended with an actionable plan for the left - We need more like him!!

This is fantastic, this guy knows what’s going on
I wish we could go back to the good years which to me were between the 60's and 70's they were wonderful years growing up
and working, people cared more about one another, in our workplace things were fair. But slowly the increase of consumerism increase of goods available wages started to go up and we became consumers of just about everything. And unfortunately consumerism is one of our greatest problems. But we are living on BORROWED MONEY, not many people having savings in the bank and I hate the banks because if you buy a property for example $500,000 dollars again we are deceiving ourselves that we can afford these ridiculous inflated prices, ( I used work in real estate) if suddenly you lose your job or one loses their job well the first thing you think of is the bloody mortgage. The bank doesn't care, they have your house, they won't lose anything.
The other people I dislike the most is the real estate industry people because they are the ones who misdiagonise the true value of a property and inflate the price so much because of bloody competition and the fact that they know people are earning more money than ever before. I couldn't care less about capitalism is now greed, corruptions and its immoral, its not acceptable the way things are working now absolutely not. Once we used to call people millionaires, now we have Billionaires who want to make rockets to fly to the moon and back I wish they would stay there. I think we are lacking basic COMMON BLOODY SENSE.
I had a wonderful boss, who used to fill the wall of our company now and then, saying for EVERY PROBLEM THERE IS A
SOLUTION! I agree, give me a problem and I will solve it. Didn't mean to write so much but I am fed up with Corporations
running the world and their greed. We are going through the stage of GREED in this day and age.
All your words are the truth.
Just remember that all things in the universe cycle meaning they are always changing. No system ever stay
The same. Be ready when this one will collapse prepare.
Remain steadfast and remember to
Believe and don’t loose hope
And the greatest to love.
The holy trinity.
The consumerism problem you say its true. Government induce consumerism via inflation, keynesianism, policies... so GDP is artificially inflated with things we produced without wanting them.
@@alejandrosrwebmaster precisely.
Let us establish maximal income and maximal personal wealth allowed. Good starting point: FORBES billionaires list.
Godspeed.
It's so easy to criticize a system and highlight the flaws. The real trick is to come up with a solution that has a shot at getting implemented.
One of the problems I see is that the paramount legal requirement for corporations is to make money for their shareholders. This leads to increasingly short term decision-making and things such as stock buybacks. Shareholders should get something back for their investment in the company but only after the workers have been adequately compensated. I'd like to see a change to the tax system which REWARDS companies, in the form of a tax cut, that close the gap between the lowest paid worker and the CEO. Make it a financial BENEFIT for the company to pay their workers rather than being in a wage race to the bottom. If millions of workers were to get paid significantly more they would be contributing so much more in taxes themselves that it would actually be a good thing that companies could brag about not paying any taxes.

Here are 3 problems in the way of socialism. Masses are ignorant, greedy and want to stay that way. Ask yourself this, there is a reason that despite all the suffering, hardship and poverty capitalism survives while ideologies come and go. Capitalism is and always will be in a state of crisis, so its a natural state of the system. It is based on our flaws and matches the laws of nature. So, it always survives.
So Capitalism is a Religion for you then. God-given and eternal.
That's pure hogwash!
Just like the eternal divine right of kings. That "eternal" thought was crushed and destroyed by the people in 1789 and the thinkers before that.
Janet Douglas
Religion?!!! What gave you that idea?
No, not at all. All I am saying is that people are simply ignorant and Yanis is an idealist at best. Do I think idealism serves a purpose. Yes, there is a place for idealism so long as it does not seize political power because it performs just as bad as theocracy. Just like a religion it cannot tolerate pluralism and diversity of thought. We have seen this in USSR and to some extent in China. Don’t get me wrong, I am not a capitalist, in fact I despise many aspects of capitalism, yet cannot see a viable alternative. So, we are where we are and unless suddenly 7 billion people become intellectual idealists overnight we are better off reforming the system or just let it evolve naturally.
Glad I support double down news it really delivers an alternative to right wing lies and establishment bias.Than you. Maintaining hope in these dark days.

If one is not mistaken; almost two decades ago " economics " was precisely defined as
the means by which both private and public entities - not only - study - but - make choices about " limited "
resources allocation.
In the name of not pressing to hard on.., and since most definitions evolve;
remains unresolved. Another term " artificial scarcity "

when it comes to primary goods and services (those that folks can't go without).
One does not wish to imply that capitalism is anything other than a work in progress. It should also be

there is a limited understanding of the capitalist system and of its potential.
Like Prof. Varoufakis sais.

So we can see the problems. What’s the answer?? To fix the problem?? What do we do about it ?? Damn

Production forces are still improving under capitalism, capitalism has not over but it has more life because industrial revolution (4.0) is going on under capitalism but in near future this system will collapse but it has still more life to develop human society and technology also....
Capitalism had a golden age in the post-WW2 era. Continuous growth and wealth accumulation, families could afford to have only 1 person working (husband) and sustain the entire family, job opportunities due to reconstruction and growth, introduction of socialized healthcare in Europe, you could own a house by your early 20s and see it increase in value over time. Now that era has come to an end, even if technology continues to improve. We don't have to wait till humanity cannot develop any further to replace capitalism with a better, fairer system.

g00d luck there,,
Capitalism is not the problem - greed is ... Capitalism gives you the opportunity to make mass sums of money that you can in-turn use to help others. Unfortunately, not always, this is not the result. I believe money should be diverted to those in need but to force companies to do so will produce opposition. The best way to persuade others is by example.
Systematic auto-destructionism is to blame on the State (Government/Political Power), not on proper capitalism.
It is not capitalism in crisis, but socialism in crisis. We have socialism on a massive scale nowadays, when governments bail-out companies too big to fail - that is not capitalism but socialism for big and rich, when central banks create money out of thin air to finance governments or save financial markets - that is also socialism, when commercial banks create money out of thin air when lending money - that is also socialism - you are stealing purchasing power from the productive.
Good plan, but how to do it?
Amazing resume!
