We miss his dry humor terribly. What a grand personality he was. RIP mate.
A genuine one off. Life duller without him. I learnt more from him than any other cook
Me also.
What a lovely... Honest... Mad bolox... I miss him terribly... Even constant rewatchs make me miss him more. I learned how to cook watching him... Learned how to laugh... Travelled to France because of him.... Rip my Dear Chum.. God bless... Hope your cooking for the apostles while having a slurp with JC and the big man
@@pegan7563 😎👏🏻🇮🇪
Less than 30 seconds in and he already called he a tart. Loved keith floyd
I think he says tartar.
As a frenchman, I do admire the english patience and politeness!
Awesome video!
Love watching life in the 80s.
Still miss him. Inspired me in so many ways. Especially for travel.
I never saw this guy growing up in the USA. He is a lot of fun and now I can't wait to watch more of his shows.
Leftbanker
We did, at least in some cities in the US, get to some Floyd shows in the 80s.
A public television on Long Island broadcast them. That was my exposure to this charming and yet unpretentious man.
Best thing about this green and pleasant cess pit, ever
The wonderful Keith Floyd, with his incomparable wit and amiable mockery. The best cookery excerpt I've seen for ages. They've just shown this on Saturday Kitchen, and I'm so glad to find it here on YT. And Madame Moulin is magnificent - that rather conceited self-assurance that I wish I, and other English women, possessed. We've lost all confidence in our cooking abilities, which is a shame.
True cooking shows like these do not exist anymore.
Im 25 and only got kowing about keith after my da recommended him since Rick Stein is my idol, he never dissapoints. Not that I was born then but they sure dont make them like him anymore
He defended his style because it wasn't the peasant way. What a lad. haha
My very very fav Chef, you are missed !
the best and unforgettable brilliant keith floyd
She was not backing down lol HER kitchen! I loved it
Why is this my favorite video on youtube
2 strong personalities in 1 small kitchen
i can watch this over and over. gold.
"That is, if I may say so, a peasant way of cooking an omelet." Savage cheek.
Quite the opposite. You don't know Floyd. (Unless you're joking!)
He actually explained the peasant rationale which was perfectly valid and also generous to the host.
Not gonna lie, I'd take the peasant's version any day. I don't much care for runny eggs.
Rick Stein commented on this very scetch and agreed with Floyd
He was trying to be charitable- and acknowledged the two traditions. Watch Jacques Pepin for more background if needed.
"The old dragon peering over my shoulder"
Good old Keith, man
Keith was pissed off with that woman so he's gone and subtly called her a peasant 😂😂😂 too good
This guy was always drinking. He's great
floyd ..your a legend..
Love his love for life. Makes it look effortless
This is the first time I have seen Keith Floyd. What a great little recipe and an even better bit of storytelling on his part. I can't wait to see more of his stuff. Why did he never appear on American TV?
"bit of a tart"? Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The word is TARTAR, nor tart. The sort of word used to describe old school head mistresses. :)
@@supergran1000 he said tart
He definitely said tartar.
Lmao @ "with the old dragon peering over my shoulder"
lol
XD
And she doesn’t understand a lick of it!!!! 😂😂
What a star.
Great stuff, Keith and Thank You !!!
Inspirational. I watched every program in the 80s and have most of his books. I still go to his recipes for confirmation and assurance. BTW - I think I've been in that French kitchen...
loved him
0:43 "pretending to be helping his wife.."
Lol floyd, spilling roast secret about guys with their wife in the kitchen
Absolutely marvelous!!!! "The old dragon peering over my shoulder"......
So sadly missed, never be another like Floydy! I'll just be having a slight glass of wine lmfao
The Galloping Gourmet in this part of the world was Graham Kerr .[NZ].. who was also a flamboyant cook...During his 1960s heyday, which began with a show in New Zealand before he landed in the US, Kerr was known for injecting extra fat into already well-marbled roasts and offering vegetables only as a garnish.

"Slight glass of wine"
Brilliant...loved it.
what fantastic and sumptuous cooking vid. selection you have BBC. keep the class and taste!
even with the shitty 1980's cameras you can see the eggs are of SUPREME quality [orange not yellow]
My friend keeps chickens and yes, the yoke is so rich and golden
For omelets of supreme quality worthy of an asgardian
legend! R.I.P
I love how in 5:19 you see the out of focus slapdash presentation of the two omelettes like they're about to go in the bin... no garnish no chives, no cleaning of the plates or its surroundings
Keith is right, his is the better quality omelette
Just ran across this guy, great food prepared by a great chef with great Wit!!! Shame he’s not around anymore.
The Best of them all. Very good and human.
If they brought back that BBC I might start paying a licence fee again.
Very good. Floyd cooks the real deal and the farmers wife is priceless. How do you make those cepes?
My favourite celebrity chef!
Thank God for Floyd. Raise your glass! (..and I prefer his method, eggs fresh and fluffy as you like, plenty of seasoning!)
Ol dragon peering over my shoulder.... hahaha..
Keith was the James Hunt of TV chefs.
So so good
The old dragon peeping over my shoulder. Hahahaha
Surprised to see a French person overcook an omelette like that. I thought our Gallic chums invented the dish, and insisted on a wet centre, in recognition of 'carry over cooking'.
A good omelette is a delicate thing, in taste and texture. She created a rubbery disk of tough egg yolk and albumen. A perfect frisbee for the dog, but don't eat it.
However Keith was ever the gentleman, and had no compulsion to point out the obvious - his omelette was clearly by far the best!
A slight glass of wine 😂😂😂
She's a tough madame!
Love already. Flloyd xxx
A slight glass of wine.... legend
I hate runny eggs. I would have preferred the "Old Dragon's" version of omelettes. She actually looks about the same age as he was, and I thought she had a friendly smile. I hope she never found out what he said about her. This was one of the few Floyd shows broadcast on PBS in the U.S. More's the pity he's gone now, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if she's still around standing over her grandchildren's shoulders and teaching them how to cook. Too bad he smoked and drank so much. The mid 1980s really wasn't so long ago.
If anyone asked my who is your favourite chef always Keith Floyd and I'm only 27
Keith I miss you pal
You knew him?
who does not love MR Floyd!!!
Baby, you’re the best
Hen so brave xxxxx
The floyd can save anybody even dough it’s a strictly non alcoholic dish I bet he manages to sneak a bottle or two in for the camera man
very entertaining to watch xD
They cut the bit where he tastes her version and says it is much better :)
Lovely man.
Legend presenter...
He didnt give a shit did he!!! Legend.
Love you darling xx ca cest ci. U best Flloyd xxxxxx. Love you
I kinda want the recipe for that soup
Yeah, will be delcious
hi to the new York city
Recipe for the soup???
OK..,like how do you make an omelette froth like that??? Every time I try it just ends up in a bubblin puddle :/
Get the oil really hot
This is a great vlog...I personally like my omelet cooked her way, I DO NOT like uncooked egg.
manque15 in France they have their eggs especially scrambled egg runny. To us Brits it seems disgusting but to the French it's a delicacy.
Tony - so why did she cook on both sides. It wasn't going to be runny
He fought the laaaaauw , and the laaaauw won
He calls her dish crap then she says he's cooking it wrong, I laughed th whole way through.
Hers did look better too
The duo linguo banter was great
So many voilas! Walla, walla!
I see how gordon ramsey has gotten a lot from floyd.
Hilarious
Her omelette was overdone imo. But like he said it depends on what u like.
Yes, let me just pick up some *goose fat* and *wild mushrooms*. Right... got it.
Mr Moulet’s foul gizzards....
Along with Christopher Hitchens, Keith is missed. We still have Marco PW
look at the color of those eggs
Shit iv got a sister in law like this! She's called the lizard off ozz, I wandered where she got too! Keep her she's free@
much prefer it cooked both sides.
You peasant 😉
Never get between a cook and their stove!
What the hell was wrong with the exposure in the 80s? Everything is too dark.
It was shot on film and underlit. They probably didn't have full lighting gear for an on-location shoot.
Lol at 2:00 he talks about the lighting man not feeling well ha ha must've messed em up
@@doggiemouth8514 It's true of just about everything in the 80s though. Even Delia Smith cookbooks. You look at the pictures and even the prawn cocktails are too dark. Must have been a trend.
REAR ADMIRAL FLOYD
Clearly Madam out egged him! LOLLLLLLLLLLLL
When potential cooks wasn't pretentious
Lol.....
This man touches himself when alone and in the dark
Doesn’t every man?
Poor lady getting slagged off by Keith, she didnt seem that bad!
haha he knows that hers is better
Floyd thinks you are a peasant.
you shouldn't go to decent restaurants if you like your steak well done, just over cook a cheap cut at home. Seriously why bother going out and paying lots, it takes no skill to cook a steak well done.
Sadly missed Keith, but her omelette was better.
Keith's was better , I thought the French liked there eggs raw
How annoying. Either she should do it or leave him to do it.
He's good at making an omelette, but Julia Child's method is better.
wrong!!!
