More than anything I think Ange wants to deflect negativity from his coaching staff. Which is respectable, but as a fan highly annoying when there doesn't seem to be any progress.
There was also an imo clear foul on Romero's first header where he hit the post. He was pushed with both hands mid-air, a very dangerous foul that wasn't given as Romero managed to land well. There could/ should have been easily 3 penalties in our favour. It's insane how incosistent the rules are.
The carefully worded questions he didn’t answer were why he hasn’t done anything about the glaring mistake of leaving Vicario so exposed when it was identified months ago, all other problems pale into insignificance next to that, shows he is having difficulty keeping up with the PL pace.
Spurs fans: "We want a long term project manager who plays frontfoot attacking football!!" 🤔 Alao spurs fans: "Ange needs to adapt he needs to change it isn't working.. He isnt the man to take us forward.." 🤪 This fanbase is making me laugh so hard 😂😅
What Ange needs is a couple more windows to assemble the squad he needs. He always stated that from the outset, he would require 4-5 windows to get what he wants. He has had 2 only. So give him a break for gods sack.
Possession is irrelevant if you don't put that ball over the line between the sticks. Man to man marking is needed right now for THFC in my opinion , it looks like they panic at any corner. . White should have been pushed into the goal each time before any corner was taken and that commotion would have drawn ref's attention as you said. Also why is Son or Johnson in the box when defending corners? Why not leave one or both upfront with pace, this pressures opposition to think we must leave defenders out of our box because we now present them with a break away threat. Modern football teams don't do this why can't we try? Romero was immense 10/10. Terrible Sunday. Beating Chelsea is now a must. Great update AG.
Hard to see where the next point is coming from. Every time we give away a corner it’s like conceding a penalty. We’re painfully easy to play against. If we’d started like this and ended the way we started that would show progress (like poch’s first season) but this is very worrying and what’s more worrying is that we have a manager who just doesn’t get it.
Firstly Ali we have been waiting all day now you post😳 😂 Woolwich scored only one from open play (our players distracted from pen shout), we hit the post, had one chalked off plus they were clinging on at the end. The over reaction to the result from some was as predictable as it is daft. As I watched their fans giving it large at the end I wondered how many of them were "Arteta out" only 2 or 3 years ago? Maybe some of our fans should remember that.
It's season 1 under Ange. The league table doesn't lie and we're only just starting the journey. He needs 4 or 5 transfer windows to get his squad together
With Maddisons recent no shows I'd hook him and give Gio a chance. Not sure what Madders is giving us, does alot of running about but the player we bought from er Leicester isn't showing his talents.
I’d give Jamie Donnelly a go. He’s been sublime in the under 21s. He’s so hungry and the future of the club. Gio will be off in the summer and will probably get injured again before he goes!
I feel like the argument with Son coming deep to look for the ball is just due to the midfield not working. He has to search for the ball since others can’t provide. Just saw a stat that said Sonny has the most successful through balls in Europe 5 leagues. He has also has done the most in our squad.
Spot on. This is a massive problem with spurs, teams don’t even need to play well to find themselves 3-0 up. Newcastle had the ball for 25% of the time but scored 4. No serious team ever does that.
Having just seen the American football tight end push that Gabriel or saliba did to prevent cuti from scoring (when he hit the post), the misreading of "intent" to rule van Der ven offside, the foul on Kulu for the pen that was ignored, the fact that Ben Davies was also ignored until they said "erm, nah you have to go check that one Michael", we continue to be punished by the refs for their mistake against Liverpool
Touching a keeper in the 6-yard box was supposed to be a foul under any circumstance. Michael Oliver should be investigated for the very dubious behaviour... But whatever, we auto-destructed to some level also. Tottenham eh..?
Romero has just invented the false CB. 2nd highlight of my day... 1st was that I met the guy who wrote the theme to Rosie and Jim. It was a strange sunday
Let’s be real, VAR bottled it on their 2nd goal. There has never been a time where they’ve overturned a goal and given a penalty to the opposition in the PL since it’s been introduced and they sure as hell didn’t want to do it for the first time in such an important, potentially title deciding, game. It’s as clear as anything that Kulu is tripped. Anywhere else on the pitch it’s a freekick. Any other day VAR steps in and overturns that. I am STUNNED that more has not been made of that poor decision. If that was Arsenal or Liverpool, there would be a public inquest demanded!
@@chrishalious8194 not sure he is a waste of space, but all of them need to know if you don't perform you get dropped. What's the purpose of having a squad if certain people think they are naturally going to be an automatic start. Pep is happy to drop Grealish, Fergie would drop any Utd player no issues .
@@adamhamilton-whittle Ange's first sign when he is not happy with player is is to systematically take him off just after half time and after that he is on the bench then he is out that is what Ange does in every team he has been and i say right now he is close to the bench, right now he is not much use to the team it's far better to put a desperate player in than having him waste space
For Chelsea maybe put Sonny on the left and play Richy down the middle, drop Maddison and give Gio a go. We have to get back to winning ways, imagine finishing 7th and being subjected to Conference Football at grim stadiums in grim locations.
Depends on if Richy is fit. He wasn't fit to play 60 minutes against Arsenal (else Johnson wouldn't have come on for Timo) so it's not looking great for him starting. We'll see.
I have a straightforward question for everyone here: why aren't we placing a man on the player standing in front of our goalkeeper? I don't have the exact game details, but take the Newcastle versus Everton match, for instance. We've conceded goals from corners or free kicks because of opponents positioned in front of our goalkeeper. Despite having a 15-day break before this game, we didn't even consider addressing this issue, not to mention that Arsenal excels at scoring from corner kicks. It's frustrating because every team seems to be targeting our goalkeeper, and we only make adjustments after goals have been scored. In the recent game, we started marking the player in front of Vicario only in the second half. Am I missing something here? If my amateur eyes can spot this, why aren't the coaches seeing it? I'm sure all of you have noticed this trend over the last few games. Don't get me wrong, I love this team, our style of play this year, and I have great respect for the coach. I thoroughly enjoy every game, but this one issue is really starting to bother me.
Concentration. During set pieces players are losing the player they are meant to be marking. Perrie panic and Kulu lost focus. Placing a defender on a the player that is Infront of the keeper then they will obstruct the keeper even more. If the keeper cant see the flight of the ball. Its each ways. Goals form set pieces comes form a player losing who they are meant to be marking. Kulu has shown he is prone to losing his marker.
I feel our midfield is the biggest concern as so inconsistent and seems that whoever comes off bench in the 6&8 roles actually plays well and team improves but as soon as start them they don’t perform - been thinking last few weeks that deki should he playing middle instead of Maddison who not been sake since injury - hopefully now few games in succession we’ll actually gel as def felt the 15 days gap was actually to big a gap between games
Hi Alasdair, greeting from Melbourne. On the topic of Vicario, he is a great character, great shot stopper, excellent with his feet but he does not command his six yard box!! We need to see the "Venom" part of his game. He should have put two hands on Ben White and shoved him so hard. He has become too intimidated since the Man City incident in the FA cup. Even at the risk of getting booked he needs to intercept corners and smash into the cluster of players. I will miss the next two games also as they are at unearthly hours of the morning for us Oz fans.
Hi Michael I’m in Brisbane and totally agree look at Pickford in the box and he’s smaller nobody gets in his way they learnt over time he will push shove etc Vic nears lessons from Cuti on pushing and being a badass Rather he risks a penalty at first cpl games next season so they knoy he will push back
I know you think Postecoglou is protecting his assistant manager and trying to stop it being a thing for his players by deflecting the glaringly obvious set piece problem. But it’s not working. He’s coming across as someone who’s not seeing the problem and not trying to fix it. Of course that’s not the case, but his constant denials aren’t protecting anyone, it’s annoying the fanbase and it’s undermining the considerable amount of credibility he has built up. He should acknowledge the problem and say he’s going to do something about it.
I had Spurs finishing 3/2. Its still a wonder what would it be like if the Chelsea game had been different, Finishing 5th is still a good season. Many expected Spurs to struggle finish 8tth. Have to remember Spurs went through a whole month of playing make shift CB. Also feel the players have to be playing more then one game a week to get the flow going. Will be interesting who comes in the summer. Spurs aren't being outplayed. Its individual errors that is causing issues. Player switches of for a sec leads to goal.
1) Thank you and well done Alasdair for putting that question to AP in the way that you did. He is a refreshing change from the dirge of preceding years and I think he needs time and more suitable players but I do think it's been disingenuous of him to deny that corners are a problem for Spurs, particularly defending them - the stats more than bear that out. And he has boxed himself in somewhat with his dogmatic line. I do understand that he won't make any compromises on his philosophy but he's admitted that we're too easy to score against and needs to adapt somewhat. He can't expect VdV to protect us against long balls to wingers, a ploy that other teams have used to such great effect against us. And if he denies the need for better management of corners then....2) the forwards need to convert more. Much as our forward line played with a lot more brio on Sunday, no doubt spurred on by a raucous crowd, it was only really Romero that looked a scoring threat. Werner hesitates to take on his marker (Perisic did this far better), Kulu is strong and gets the ball up the pitch but you know that he will cut back, which slows down transitions, Johnson is to be applauded for taking on his man but his crosses only ended up in the arms of Raya in the absence of Richarlison/Werner to attack lofted balls, and Son is totally wasted/marked out in a central position - that's been the case for months 3) a final point on the officiating. I was at the game (not far from your esteemed self) and the lack of decisions that went our way felt like we're still being penalised for our the Liverpool game. This was most obvious when Oliver initially refused to give a penalty for Rice's wild kick on Davies but also for the shenanigans that Ben Orange was allowed to get away with throughout the game.
I was genuinely really encouraged by the NLD display- I know people (Rival fans more than anything) don't want to hear it but we were genuinely dominant. We hit the post, narrowly missed two other headers and had a toenail offside call. I do think Kulu was fouled pre Saka's goal but even without that and without Udogie (Who is in most people's team of the season)- we created better chances and looked more like scoring. Of course, I accept our set piece defending is poor, but on another day Haverts hits the post and Romero scores three headers instead. One year into a project and we pinned Arsenal back who are four years into theirs and are "title challengers", I've even heard some call them "The best team in the league". There is nothing to fear as much as this result hurts, we'll be back better than ever next season! As always, thanks for the video Mr Gold. You make everything with regards to Tottenham better!
@@jacklegros6614 I think you need to have a tiny bit more patience. I know it's not nice to lose. But I doubt we'll be caught up from teams below us and I doubt we'll catch Villa so, really, results don't actually matter *that much*. Aside from how we, as fans, feel about them where it does hurt to lose. We have a summer transfer window where we are in the best position of any other club in the Premier League with regards to FFP as well as, allegedly, a big budget. The NLD saw Hojbjerg, Davies and Kulu start. All of which, whilst good players, were not brought in by Ange and nor do they profile as what Ange wants in their positions. Think how good VDV has been? Now imagine a full eleven players that are as tailor made for their position in an Ange system as VDV is? Looks good right? That's us next season.
@@kimchi_b how is the engine broken when the engine was running high and carrying us to dominate the whole game? Even with the flat tires, we almost got to the destination with that purring engine! The flat tires costed us many trips this season already! The mechanic refused to acknowledge the flat tires Is ridiculous
Hi Ali, you hit the nail on the head there near the end. The players need to give us a big response on the pitch and in games. Also I reckon Ange already knows what players he wants to clear out of the squad to trim it down to allow new players come in.
Thanks again for the vids mate. The one big worry regardless of performance was the fact we got caught with an over the top ball and 2 corners, very predictable.
We could well end up with the same points as last season or maybe 3 more than last season. Some people might say, we've done it without Kane, but even so, to only end with three more points than last season is disappointing to say the least. Son is a shadow of his former self. We are not playing to his strengths. Ange can't seem to figure out the best midfield set up. You'd think we'd have sorted out corners by now.. He talks about a project and keeping the faith. Frankly, I'm beginning to think that unless you're Pep and have a seemingly bottomless pit of money to spend, having an all out attack strategy will not work at Spurs. Remember, at Celtic, he had a big budget compared to all the other clubs, probably more than even Rangers. So, not surprising he did well there.
We are missing a goal-scorer like a hole in the head and Kane is a goal-scorer if not the best so NO EVEN SO it's a major part of the team missing so don't dismiss Kanes loss as so be it it's a huge loss
Had the season been flipped around, poor start and unbeaten run at the back end of the season, what would the supporter base be saying. The narrative would be totally different
Good afternoon, Alasdair. Only just had time to view your video. Thanks once again for your insight into all things, Tottenham. I personally feel Tottenham needs to get Sonny back to the left-hand side of the attack. He is lost at centre forward as I feel our players aren't getting the ball into him. We need Richi in the middle. Also, I think Madders needs to be moved to the bench for a couple of matches. I feel we need to play Deki in the middle of midfield . Put Johnson on the right.. But I am no manager, but things aren't working as they are at present. Cheers Dennis.
At 7 pm on Tuesday May 14th, I better receive a notification on my phone that reads: Tottenham XI- Forster, Royal, Dragusin, Dorrington, Davies, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Sessegnon (when injured at 15' no replacement), Gil, Solomon (if alive), Werner
Let’s be realistic here. Not going to get 4th.. Not going to win the next 2 and Levy will still be getting his bonus for failure.. 20 years and more. Nothing will change until he does
Thank you for your insightful and balanced reflection. You're right to question the manager's stubborn refusal to address our defending from corner kicks. It comes across as very odd (arrogant?) that he steadfastly won't even attempt to fix it.
I'm an Ange fan and I want to see him continue to build at Spurs for the next couple of seasons at least, but being at the start of a project does not excuse the poor defending from corners. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting different results.
Oliver was atrocious. Stone wall pen on Kulu and there should be an inquisition in to how he didn't think it was a pen on Davies when he has a perfect view of it from 5 yards away - one of the worst decisions of the season. Also, sort set pieces out and get someone in between Vic and the attacker!
Thanks Ali. I think the setpiece situation is embarrassing at the min. Every team seems to do the same thing player on the keeper and we're under pressure.
Good day Sir Gold, yet again an analysis of a derby to make sense of and ease the jagged mind. Our team didn't do itself any justice with that performance. I was a bit disappointed with our starting eleven when I did join the match, because I was looking for Sarr, Richarlison and Lo Celso to start at the expense of Bissouma, Werner and Maddison. By now you are going to see that I am not a fan of Maddison, especially since his return. Watching his antics irked me. Its a match that I thought with a little more conviction we would have won. Looking forward to our next derby match to see us bouncing back. COYS!!
Jheez in moment question Ange looked pretty gutted to answer a direct question. This is supposed to be a free hit season and a change for the whole club so younger players know the system to get into the first team. Give Ange a break or he'll step!!!
No one is debating that. We know your job is to create content but what seems to be happening is that sometimes this becomes the narrative for other platforms to suggest it's that simple to do and he's refusing to accept that one thing. If he did then you're telling me it will become the 'what next' where we don't run back quick enough so just get a fitness coach...This analytical dissecting of his coaching is so baseless imao. Give him this season to assess everything and prepare for next season!!!
Mate please balance your spurs media consumption, listen to or read ENTIRE quotes from pressers, and think rationally. We’ve conceded a number of weak goals this season - a result of poor focus and mentality. Ange is trying to fix these problems with mentality, along with a number of other longstanding issues. I completely agree we need to be better with set pieces, but this is not our primary issue.
We are so bad at defending set pieces and the ball hit over the top that it is getting ridiculous. If I was Dragusin I would be sticking in a transfer request, conceding over 50 goals and he can’t get a game? Why not try 3 at the back including Dragusin ?
Thanks for the update. Agree it was an odd game. We were better first half but the set piece defending was criminal. The Saka goal should have been a pen but couldn’t complain about anything else. Ange has to work on this himself or change his staff to find someone who can. Thought starting PEH was wrong. Also not starting Richy. Maddison has been really poor for weeks bar Villa and shouldn’t start. Bentancur was the best of the midfield 3 so hard to see why he was the one subbed at HT. Signings in the summer are key to create competition as well as increase quality of the xi. Should say Romero was great especially second half when he decided he was playing everywhere
The officials decisions in that game were horrendous. You can't help but think there's something dodgy going on with the officiating. It's always Michael Oliver as well when Spurs play. Yeh I've got my tin foil hat on but it's so sus the way we get treated.
Oh Ali, I don't know what to say, except, happy to see my notification pop up with your video. I look forward to your insight and hope to feel better at the end. Been looking forward to this, please turn my frown upside down. #COYS
Great video Ali. Thank you for mentioning Kulusevski. I thought he and Romero put in top performances - the guys sat behind me were picking out Kulu 2nd half as a scapegoat but think that was just easy for them. Overall i didn't think it was a bad performance against a good side.. just the finer details as your discussed. I remember seeing how Poch's team grew and reacted differently in big games with more experience - like when they went out to a clever Juve team only to eventually reach the champ. League final the next season. Enjoy Croatia! Dubrovnik is wonderful. The recent Star wars trilogy was filmed there in the old town too. I definitely want to go to Split so interested to hear about that. Maybe a 3rd channel.. Gold does... Croatia. 😅. Cheers
Spurs have to put a man next to Vicario to stop the opposition standing next to him. He also needs to come for balls floated into his 6 yard box. As for VAR it is ruining so many games and was meant to be used for clear and obvious errors missed by the referee, like the Davies foul and penalty not to calculate mm as to whether the boot sticking was offside! As for the game, Arsenal are a year or so ahead of us in terms of maturity, mental attitude and ruthlessness as a team. This is what we have to strive for but to achieve it we will need at least 4 quality additions. Personally, I would keep the £15m we could spend on Werner and use it elsewhere. He is ok but not the answer not even as a bench player.
Thanks for this informative analysis of an odd match. A disappointing experience. I’m in agreement with you on all points ,especially your views on the defensive set play debacle! Hope you enjoy your holiday!
I believe this game was lost at selection. We needed Richys energy and pressing and being a centre target and Son being creative out wide. I can see why Ange kept the faith with Madders but he looks burnt out and out of ideas. We need to change it up.
Just read your piece about AP's time at Celtic where the same ploblem re: defence of set-pieces, I had looked into that as well but at the end I was left wondering why the hell he has disregarded the lessons he must surely have learned when he got the Spurs job? It has been obvious sinvce the ManCity game that something had to be done to give Vicario some protection with corners but he has done not a single thing about it, nothing and won't face up to the fact that it is a problem. What can only be chatitably described as negligence has cost us a lot of points. I don't expect you to put yout press pass in jeopardy by asking him that but somebody needs to-and whether or not he will do anything for the Chelsea game and for the rest of the season?
I think vicario needs to bulk up and get stronger for next season and start commanding his box great ball stopper but needs to bulk up and get stronger ya we conceded a lot of soft goals this season but I think anje will bring in cover in the summer and work on set peices over the summer its his first season and most of the players first season aswell but I think our first signing should be a set peice coach ASAP in the summer if he dosent I'm sure he will drill it into the players for next season
@@user-ix5zl6ew4w FFS!-don't you think he should have had it covered by now? It completely baffles me that so many simply refuse to face the fact that he is costing us points every week because he fails to recognise it as the problem it is.
@@user-ix5zl6ew4w No keeper has to contend with the level of needling and jostling that Vicario has every game, no other team uses the zonal marking system whicjh leaves him so exposed because it doesn't work in the PL.It's not on Vicario it's on AP
I keep saying since the Liverpool game we never get the run of the ball they disallow a goal don't know why but can't see ben white blocking the keeper amazing
Thanks for the video Alasdair. A tough defeat to take as it could so easily have been very different, but that has been true of a lot of Spurs’ matches this season. It was certainly very odd that Vicario got no protection from his teammates when defending corners. Ange seems the only one who cannot see that Spurs have a problem with set pieces. I agree that Madison was anonymous and seems to have lost confidence. His first move when he got thw ball always seemed to be away from the opposition goal I was also frustrated by Spurs inability to dribble past the wall of Arsenal defenders especially after Werner was injured. Far too many passes just seemed to go sideways. Hopefully, a better night against Chelsea.
I can’t say Arsenal were winning undeservedly, better teams punish poorer teams for every mistake they make. They knew we’d struggle with set pieces and they’d get chances, they scored from two of them. They also knew our left side would be vulnerable to counter attacks, as Davies just doesn’t have the pace anymore to deal with wingers like Saka and they exploited that too. They didn’t have many chances but they were clinical when they got their chances and we were not. Our goals came from a gift from Raya and a pen (that Oliver somehow missed), Arsenal had studied our weaknesses and exploited them. If the goals should’ve stood or not is up for debate, it’s a clear pen on Deki, if that was Saka falling over, that’s 100% a pen. I’d say there was definitely a foul in their second set piece goal too but that still doesn’t excuse our set piece defending, that as you say has been a huge problem this season. Maybe you’re right about the VDV goal but that’s just me hating VAR I guess, I just think it creates a vague situation, some will argue Tomiyasu played the ball, apparently Mbappe was onside after a Spaniard attempted to clear the ball in the Nation’s League final but failed, now it bounces off of two Arsenal players and it took four minutes to make him a toenail offside. It’s just a kick in the teeth that so many important calls went in Arsenal’s favour and even many 50/50 calls too. However overall, Ange should’ve known they’d obstruct Vicario and be dangerous on set pieces and he should’ve known they’d target our left side, in my opinion he has to be more creative and find a solution, otherwise strong teams will punish us.
There’s a lot of Spurs games that defy logic, mainly because we give away such soft goals, we’d have that league won by now if we take off all the “gifts” we’ve given team this season 😅
Vicario not calling anyone out to mark white so nieve ben davies has to go in summer and we need to sort out a top no6 defensive mid a leader and get better quality up front and in my eyes take the captaincy of Son give it to Romero.. Ange needs to wake up on set pieces or he wont last
Nice balanced view as always agree with your assessment of offside and pen think hard done by not to get the pen but we brought result on ourselves got to defend those corners. On the attacking options what do you think about Solomon will he be in plans or likely exit similar to Gil?
It's important that fans don't get too caught up on statistics. Possession only means something if you're actually productive with it. Arsenal played us to a tee.. They let us have the ball because they knew as long they stayed compact and narrow, we would struggle to break down their defensive construct.
Thanks Alasdair for another great video. Strange game on Sunday and yes we certainly did not get the rub of the green on the decisions made by the officials. The atmosphere was fantastic - especially liked the trumpet player up on the skywalk with the flag wavers - set the place up beautifully - shame about the result. Want the Maddison from the start of the season back as we really need him. You will love Dubrovnik which i thought was amazing
I think you hit the nail on the head with the "If it happens outside the box, it's a freekick" I am constatntly saying this during games. I strongly believe VAR ihas ruined th egame and is making Referees lazy. They are clearly thinking if they miss an incident VAR will put it right.
Fantastic content as always and for the first time tonight you had me shouting in agreement with you. 15 days of prep for one of the highest clinical set piece taking teams in the league. There are definitely no excuses for that. And the coach at the helm of that, the least experienced and not even in the dugout. Seems ridiculously obvious it should be higher on Ange’s remediation list rather than making out it’s not more important than the other “thousands” of items that need attention
Logic and habit says yes, we should be preparing for what other teams do, Ange insists he is focussed in what we do with the ball. If they score, we score more, is his theory in a nutshell... And there are "thousands" of things to get right on our attacking part.
@@robharwood-stamper9857 Yep completely agree with the philosophy and that’s been the case all season. But the 15 day gap in preparation should have been more apparent than what it actually was.
If the Kulusevsky no penalty incident was for Manchester United, rest assured it would have been a penalty. English referees are either biased or inefficient. Of course Spurs were robbed, but apparently it is the season to give Arsenal the title.
Its true. Arsenal took there chances. Perrie own goal. Break way by Saka and the corner. Spurs aren't getting outplayed. Teams are scoring goals from corners. That's more of a individual thing.
Nice Video Alasdair. Interested to hear your thoughts on Maddison, if we want to be serious title contenders, surely, he is not the guy we need in the creative attacking position. Lacks consistency and will be a squad player at best in the top 3 (City, Liverpool & Arsenal) in my opinion.
I want our players to be less nice and more nasty. Rattle the opposition. Somebody should have been up in Ben Whites face if Vicario wasn’t going to do it himself. Little Baby Sarr was the only one who got in between White & Son when White was talking rubbish to him before the pen. Our players need to be more aggressive, make tactical fouls, talk more shit to the other team. Our strikers need to hold their own against the CBs, our wingers need to scare their opposing fullbacks more, we need to control the midfield more because we’re just getting bullied most weeks.
Think one of the problems to do with our set pieces is our height only romero and van de ven really could have matched arsenal for height. Where as last year we had 3 cbs plus kane. Think thats another thing we need to look at in summer with our targets
It's not only the height of our players that is the problem as we've seen 5ft 5 players win headers against us. It's the lack of organisation and determination to win the ball thatscthe real problem and that is on Ange I'm afraid as he is biting his nose off to spite his face. Just admit it Angeand sort the set piece defending out, or get someone else in to help. Jedinak hasn't done his job I'm afraid.
Hello Ali Gold. As a Spurs fan, I always found your videos so therapeutic especially after a defeat like this. Or so I thought. I could not believe how much moaning and groaning throughout the video and even the screaming about people on social media's comments on your presser questions about set pieces... Astonishing! What baffled me the most is you doubting Romero. For me, he's certainly not a number 6. I would put him up front as a 9 if Richie is not fit!!! And we can also play Dragusin to defend set pieces. LOL Joking aside, did we see Ben Davies' first NLD defeat? I heard what you were saying there, ball circulation. You were so cheeky! And I envy that you are traveling to Croatia, a country I have never been! For a second, I thought "Nord" was coming up and you were about to rave about how you can watch the game with it. It was such a disappointment that you did not mention it at all! More disappointing than Spurs not getting the third when they looked like it. In that regard, I grant you the permission to mention this in the next Gold and Guest pod. LOL Have a nice trip! We will batter them lot at the Bridge! COYS!

Not having a go at his staff, this falls on him he is paid the big bucks, the buck stops with Ange !
There was also an imo clear foul on Romero's first header where he hit the post. He was pushed with both hands mid-air, a very dangerous foul that wasn't given as Romero managed to land well. There could/ should have been easily 3 penalties in our favour. It's insane how incosistent the rules are.
The fact Ange doesn't think set piece defending isnt an issue is not naive, its irresponsible

It baffles me how Lo Celso doesn't get any meaningful game time from Ange
Might as well use him while we still have him
Hard to see where the next point is coming from.
Im going to give a controversial opinion I miss Sonny doing our set pieces. I also wish he took our free kicks
I'd have him doing set pieces just because it's not like he's scoring with his head. Might as well put someone else in who might.
Are you kidding me!?? 9/10 his corner kicks don’t beat the first defender.
@@Roma_901 you say that but Sonny has the 2nd most corners that led to goals in the prem last season more so than perisic
It's season 1 under Ange. The league table doesn't lie and we're only just starting the journey. He needs 4 or 5 transfer windows to get his squad together
4-5 transfer windows and more than one tactic!
You don’t think Utd with there new investment will be back next year!! So you fighting for 8th??
3 Nill down within 30 mins is Unacceptable
Maddison needs to be benched with Deki in the centre. No one should be an automatic starter if you are not performing!
1000% he is playing like he doesn't care he is just a waste of space
We'll see.
Romero was top class we’re lucky to have him
The kulusevski trip just exacerbates players diving instead of trying to stay on their feet - so frustrating!
Ange an idiot
I feel our midfield is the biggest concern as so inconsistent and seems that whoever comes off bench in the 6&8 roles actually plays well and team improves but as soon as start them they don’t perform - been thinking last few weeks that deki should he playing middle instead of Maddison who not been sake since injury - hopefully now few games in succession we’ll actually gel as def felt the 15 days gap was actually to big a gap between games
These last games we should try Romero at the 6 he’d be a wrecking ball and has a decent passing range
I don't particularly care about the decisions going against us, we lost the game because we're not good enough in the final third
Spot on
Hi Alasdair, greeting from Melbourne.
Hi Michael I’m in Brisbane and totally agree look at Pickford in the box and he’s smaller nobody gets in his way they learnt over time he will push shove etc Vic nears lessons from Cuti on pushing and being a badass
Rather he risks a penalty at first cpl games next season so they knoy he will push back
White also undid Vicario's gloves apparently. But you know, god forbid referees actually do their jobs.
He was tugging his gloves, distracting him
@@robharwood-stamper9857 but why is that allowed?
I know you think Postecoglou is protecting his assistant manager and trying to stop it being a thing for his players by deflecting the glaringly obvious set piece problem.
But it’s not working. He’s coming across as someone who’s not seeing the problem and not trying to fix it. Of course that’s not the case, but his constant denials aren’t protecting anyone, it’s annoying the fanbase and it’s undermining the considerable amount of credibility he has built up.
He should acknowledge the problem and say he’s going to do something about it.
Jedinak and Ryan mason crushing my dreams
I had Spurs finishing 3/2. Its still a wonder what would it be like if the Chelsea game had been different, Finishing 5th is still a good season. Many expected Spurs to struggle finish 8tth. Have to remember Spurs went through a whole month of playing make shift CB. Also feel the players have to be playing more then one game a week to get the flow going. Will be interesting who comes in the summer. Spurs aren't being outplayed. Its individual errors that is causing issues. Player switches of for a sec leads to goal.
We will be good next season. Trust me.
😂😂😂
Blind faith
😂😂😂 best one yet.. been saying that for 20 years
No mate .I don't trust you !! Been here so many times before !!
The biggest sigh of the season
Can you ask Ange to fix the set pieces
What about the remaining games. I want to see positive results now not some time in the future!!
"The car may have a flat tyre, but it has other problems as well, so I see no point in changing the tyre".
Thanks for the therapy video, Ali.
This car has a flat battery and a broken windscreen!!
His refusal to give Lo Celso meaningful minutes is another one I just don't understand
I think he's been around long enough to expect all kinds of different questions.
I loved every second of this Ali X156
Why isnt Ben White ruled offside when he's backing into Viccario?
If Postecoglou can't see that defending set pieces is an issue he won't be at Spurs for much longer.
9 days without our spurs therapy feels like a lifetime 😂. Hope you enjoyed your trip Ali, it looked amazing!
where'd he go?
@@lesegomatsimela2112 Croatia
We are so bad at defending set pieces and the ball hit over the top that it is getting ridiculous. If I was Dragusin I would be sticking in a transfer request, conceding over 50 goals and he can’t get a game? Why not try 3 at the back including Dragusin ?
Biggest Negative for me is Ben Davies on that second goal slow as a snails funeral but really highlights Ange,s comments about easy access to our goal
I'm not ready for this yet 😢......I'll listen tomorrow. Thanks Ali 😊
Remember arsenal are five years ahead of us
No make it ten!!
We seem to be getting worse and worse as the season goes on. Ange seems to have been found out.
All I want now is to see Ange experiment with his tactics and formations.
Great info as always ùú❤
Totally agree with your analysis of the game Al. 👍
First!! I've been waiting for this literally all day. Thanks Ali.
Win , lose or draw , WE MUST NOT WAIVER BUCKLE OR CHANGE THIS PROCESS!! It will come right! 💪🏻💪🏻💙💙💪🏻💪🏻

Micheal Oliver is a Gooner (MOG)
Croatia. 😅. Cheers
Thanks for the video. The sigh is deep today Ali. We need to learn how to defend corners.
Once again another fantastic and informative video Alasdair
Leave Romero at the back 👍🏼
Thanks for this informative analysis of an odd match.
Agree that the team playing on 61 minutes was the team that should have started.

Shocked that the ref didn't blow for a penalty clearly a penalty
Don't forget the Legend that is Steve Archibald was there on Sunday!
Hi Ali I'm missing your videos. Wishing you all the best!!!!
Enjoy your trip buddy, looking forward to hearing from you on your return. 🇭🇷
It's important that fans don't get too caught up on statistics. Possession only means something if you're actually productive with it. Arsenal played us to a tee.. They let us have the ball because they knew as long they stayed compact and narrow, we would struggle to break down their defensive construct.
💯 correct
This fella On the video hasn’t a Clue
Thanks Alasdair for another great video. Strange game on Sunday and yes we certainly did not get the rub of the green on the decisions made by the officials. The atmosphere was fantastic - especially liked the trumpet player up on the skywalk with the flag wavers - set the place up beautifully - shame about the result. Want the Maddison from the start of the season back as we really need him. You will love Dubrovnik which i thought was amazing
Such an accurate synopsis. Well done Alasdair 👏🏻
Why can't Van de Ven win a header? He is 6ft3.
I think you hit the nail on the head with the "If it happens outside the box, it's a freekick" I am constatntly saying this during games. I strongly believe VAR ihas ruined th egame and is making Referees lazy. They are clearly thinking if they miss an incident VAR will put it right.
You're too nice Ally, Kulu's non penalty was diabolical refereeing by all concerned. It changed the trajectory of the entire game!
We was so unlikely. That first one for me was a goal . And we should of got a pen . We must win against celscum . Great video coys
Unpopular opinion - actually thought we played better than arsenal on the whole we were just extremely unlucky
Its true. Arsenal took there chances. Perrie own goal. Break way by Saka and the corner. Spurs aren't getting outplayed. Teams are scoring goals from corners. That's more of a individual thing.
What about all the previous defeats this year!!
Then why don’t you win? ?? Be honest with yourself Ange got played to a T!!!!
@@jacklegros6614 what about them? I wasn't talking about them
@@Mark-99999 because we were unlucky that's what I was saying 🤦🏻♂️
Nice Video Alasdair. Interested to hear your thoughts on Maddison, if we want to be serious title contenders, surely, he is not the guy we need in the creative attacking position. Lacks consistency and will be a squad player at best in the top 3 (City, Liverpool & Arsenal) in my opinion.
couldn’t wait for this one
I agree that the Kane front post defending thing is a great shout! How many times have we watched him head away corners and free kicks
@@tonykelly9233 thats why i said one of the problems i do agree the organisation needs to be sorted as well
Going with Gold: Croatia edition - please? (great update, thanks Ali!)
Iv been waiting for that sigh since Sunday........
LOL
Joking aside, did we see Ben Davies' first NLD defeat? I heard what you were saying there, ball circulation. You were so cheeky! And I envy that you are traveling to Croatia, a country I have never been! For a second, I thought "Nord" was coming up and you were about to rave about how you can watch the game with it. It was such a disappointment that you did not mention it at all! More disappointing than Spurs not getting the third when they looked like it. In that regard, I grant you the permission to mention this in the next Gold and Guest pod. LOL
Have a nice trip! We will batter them lot at the Bridge! COYS!
Ha, not sure I screamed at any point.
@@AlasdairGoldjournalist You might be right! I put on earphones and listened with high volume, every "set piece" coming out of your mouth sounded like a threat. This is the dedication I gave to your video. lol
