- Kratero, the first stop on our August 2018 honeymoon. It was only fitting that I visit where John was born. I now understand why he's so laid back and calm. I cried when I left, because I loved the village as well as the family I met while I was there. We will see you again in August 2019!
We hope you enjoy our video.
John & Charmaigne

Πολύ ωραίο χωριό το Κρατερό και ΙΣΤΟΡΙΚΟ με τους αγώνες που έδωσε υπέρ Πίστεως και Πατρίδος!!!!!!
The title of the music is called Ariadne by Lisa Gerrard, Brendan Perry. In Greek mythology, Ariadne "Mistress of the Labyrinth" is the daughter of Pasiphae and the Cretan king Minos. She fell in love with the Athenian hero Theseus and, with a thread or glittering jewels, helped him escape the Labyrinth after he slew the Minotaur, a beast half bull and half man that Minos kept in the Labyrinth.
I hope this video encourages you to follow your thread and visit this charming village with its peaceful surroundings. You will experience simple sounds of flowing water, fresh mountain air as you walk about the village and trails through the meadows and forest. It all seems to generate a symboitic frequencey that somehow harmonises and balances peace in the soul. We hope you enjoy this video. Welcome to Kratero.
before 25 centuries FILIP MACEDONIAN KINGDOM ! ! !
😊,,🇲🇰🇲🇰🇲🇰🙏
whsts the original name of this village and why didn't you mention it.
The original name of this village is rako/rakavo!dating back to the early 1300’s!it’s all there in the ottoman archives!all village and town names in macedonia greece were changed by the Greek government between 1926-1938!
@@banitsaboy144 The Patriarchist Greeks of Rakovo/Kratero were terrorized by the Bulgarians of Banitsa multiple times to try and convert them into Bulgarian Exarchists but resisted and ultimately were victorious in the Greek-Bulgarian struggle a century ago. That's your real history.
@@sirbobloblaws Ask any of the descendants of these villages, NO ONE will say that they have Bulgarian heritage. There were no Bulgarians in these villages. It was a Macedonian-Turkish struggle, and then a Macedonian-Greek issue as Macedonians weren't even allowed to speak in their own language under Metaxas. The Greek history contradicts itself. It calls the Macedonian speaking inhabitants Bulgars and then calls them slav Macedonians in the 1940's...
@@kcc7966 Are you for real? The early 20th century Exarchate immigrants from these villages to America ALL called themselves Bulgarians. They established Bulgarian cultural associations and newspapers, built Bulgarian churches, and founded the very pro-Bulgarian Macedonian Patriotic organization in 1922. I'm related to some of these people through my mother, and they still call themselves Bulgarians.
Amazing that you are that ignorant of your own history.
My father-in-law does not call himself Bulgarian, or anyone else who I personally know from THIS particular village of Kratero. It may be different in other villages in the area, I'm unsure.
That house has seen the Balkan Wars, WW1 , WW2, & the Civil war. Aυτό το σπίτι έχει δει τους Βαλκανικούς πολέμους, τον Α 'Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο, τον Δεύτερο Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο και τον εμφύλιο πόλεμο.
IN MAKEDONIJA EVERYTHING IS MACEDONIAN ! ! ! ! !
Can anyone recommend a live greek band to hire for a family wedding in Florina?
There are many that also sing in Macedonian.
If you are looking for a band that plays and sings in macedonian I would recommend makedoniko meraki!opa!
Ok just go to my mums sisters house maiden name dimitriadis house ask her for some local grappa or wine. Where my father grew up in conflict zones during genocides of the bosnian war cold war era, so i grew up with emotionally dettatched parents family dyfunctionality from horrors of war torn eras
