  • Adirondack ice out canoe trip through tunnels, Frozen Ponds & swollen backcountry streams. As we reached April... it felt like snowstorms and frozen ponds would last forever. Then... an unexpected stretch of 80 degree weather changed all that... and suddenly the ice was out. I hope you enjoy our first Adirondack paddling adventure of 2023 in the Saint Regis canoe area... as we make our way through semi-frozen ponds including Hoel Pond, Turtle Pond, Slang Pond, and Long Pond... and explore a swollen backcountry stream only navigable in high water.

Really cool ! It was great seeing Joe out on the water ! Good to know the ice is out up there ! Joe’s canoe is awesome ! I love the pattern, very cool ! Makes me want to get another canoe 😂🤣Cheers ! Let me know if you ever figure out how to get into Lows lake this season, I’d love to get back there.👍

I love that pattern too, Craig. Joe offers it as the "Mav" lam now. A tribute to his late pup Maverick. I'll def let you know about Lows. Thanks for the nice message... I appreciate it.

Thanks Brian. I agree. The ice... and being able to make our way up that backcountry stream.. made what is usually one of regular paddles anything but. We had a lot f fun. Good company also helped :-)

Haha he went through the hoel pond tunnel! Must be nice knowing you can just fix whatever breaks. You can really enjoy gear your not afraid of destroying. Thanks for sharing Butch!

ha. I know. Funny... the rest of us carried our boats over the old rail bed. Joe has the luxury of just going for it because he can repair anything pretty easily. He likes to put his boats to the test that is for sure. plus I am not sure I'd fit through the tunnel. Lol.

Thank you. We are very thankful for the Adirondacks. We had a lot of fun on this little day trip. An 80 degree day in April is not all that common... so it was a treat we had to take advantage of.
