Being self taught, a few years ago, I took the power cable out and all other usbs, and removed the screen, only I touched the power supply circuit board by accident, what a shock that was, so now I always first thing turn it all off and drain the power by holding the power button for 5-10 seconds. sorted.
Turns out it wasn't fusion... just came with the blade SSD. Is there a port or a cable hiding somewhere behind the board so I can add another SSD drive? Cheers
The seal is due to the original Macs getting smoke trapped behind the glass. A friend of mine got pissed at his Mac because he smoked near his computer and it got under the screen. Today Apple and refuse working on your machine if you smoke..
Tried to watch but the video is too shaky for me. Need image stabilization or tripod and work the zoom lens, something. I'll see if I can't find this process on a different feed. Thanks for the try.
which SSD brand you use to swap? I have read some forums that says the NVMe with late 2015 comes with the sleep/wake issue due to running new technologies (NVMe) on an old platform (outdated firmware/software)., please let me know how did yours go.
Did you find an answer to this? I have a 2014 with the old 128gb nvme fusion part and replaced the HDD with an SSD and it constantly wakes up or starts playing UA-cam videos. I want to change the NVME as it's weirdly slow. Like it's best to edit videos off the SSD rather than the NVME and does not boot up quickly.
@@Marc-io6pv Fusion drives suck they are a cache for most used files i have a late 2015 and its fusion nvme/apple blade is only 128 and it sucks. Im going to replace the blade with a 1tb one and a new 2 tb ssd. Hopefully it works. Ill update in the new year! My thoughts bases on nothing technical is that the cahce is pulling old shit from the nvme/blade and its just messed up. not sure if when installing a new ssd to replace the hdd formats the fusion blade part. idk just a guess there.
1:01:11 the fusion SSD model is not clearly visible guys. Could you at least add a link to all parts you used? I can see the new fusion SSD behind the board but the model type isn’t clear. Please kindly share the exact model or type that is compatible. Looks similar to the ones in MBP A1502 and others. This is crucial guys. And please stabilise your video. Also video is too long. For nothing basically. Could’ve been done in at least 30 minutes or even shorter! Thanks anyhow.
I have a late 2015 iMac 27” w/2Tb Fusion Drive that gradually left ghost icons on screen then suddenly went dark-can see the screen icons and apps but dark-cannot adjust the brightness on the screen. I believe it’s the backlight because I can see the extended screen on the two external monitors i have attached thru the Thunderbolt ports. This tells me it’s the backlight and the screen, but I don’t know for sure. Any ideas?
Apple had something called iPhoto, was that not a photo editing app? I never got to try it sadly. I remember one demo they had of it when showing off a new feature with it, maybe with something with HDR pictures on the iPhone. It looked cool
OWC doesn't officially support the aura x2 in this mac, has anyone tried? it looks exactly the same. Pin numbers and layout match, just wondering if it has been tried? if not can an apple to m.2 adapter work?
You guys did a nice job with the video bit to much moving about, could have been filmed on a ship at sea? But you need to see a good barber as presentation is everything gentleman! LOL
Its likely climate related. I live in NJ nowadasy, and iin the summer you can get away w/o strap, but in the winter with low humidity youll blow our every sensitive IC, your know the expensive ones:)
Black PC cards have better frequency response than the old FR-4 ones (green), just a bit more costly, not much in quantity. Matters when one is doing GHz stuff
These guys are INTENSELY tiresome -- failed slacker comedians? -- their video "work" is, as mentioned frequently, vertigo-inducing, and they seem to forget that fooling with one of these beasts is serious business -- too much potential damage can be wreaked through carelessness or error -- and all their lame wisecracking does NOT help one focus or approach the job with requisite seriousness. I would forget this thing, wait a decade or two for the boys to grow up, and use an IFIXIT guide -- as they likely did, behind the scenes.
THis is the most apple stupidity, why don't put ssd or nvme drive from beginning. I don't mind to pay more $100. This the most reason why i don't buy this imac.
this video could be so much better if you actually explained what you are doing and stopped all the pointless rambling, which although I'm sure was fun, does not translate to a useful explainer video

I watched this at 2x and felt seasick after 10 minutes.
You need to get a gimbal to hold your camera. You have the serious shakes.
I would never in a million years work on the computer when I was drunk!
😅😂
Guys I opened my late 2015 1Tb fusion imac and the hard drive bay was empty?! No hard drive to be seen!
Turns out it wasn't fusion... just came with the blade SSD. Is there a port or a cable hiding somewhere behind the board so I can add another SSD drive? Cheers
This was helpful. A bit long, but helpful. I just fast forwarded to the parts I needed.

Seems like they don't care about your comment/question.
Just finished watching the whole video! I started it after it ended.
Fun hanging out with with you guys
sad
What is the SSD on the backside? The fusion drive Connection?
The suggestion about unplugged for two mins works IF the bleeders still work, I prefer not to check that
That light stand is very cool. Where did you get it?
Looks exactly like the mic stand I have.

What is the name of the multi-coloured moving LED light bar? I need one!

Very interesting video!

Does the 2015 not have a heat sensor on the hard drive ?
no uses SMART thru SATA
Do you know if the sandisk ssd ultra drives are any good for this upgrade?

There is zero stabilization. Why?
UA-cam doesn’t use it when you’re live for some reason. Try to use my dji gimbal but it’s broken 😞
Tripod.
wow that video wobble and the sound is so low. but ty
Luke Miani put a Mac mini in an iMac

Would wearing a grounding strap make any of this more likely to work?

Interesting, but not doing that to my iMac, I'll just buy a new one.
Nauseating camera shake.

imagine to sell these machines in 2015 without SSD... who buy these imac nowadays? apple = bandit

Poorly done
Agree, the biggest enemy of computer components is corrosion... put some gloves on and stop spitting on boards by blowing dust out with your mouth
video is really bad, can't you guys do a little more professional video please.
watch a different one then. that simple.
