Thanks so much. I think this is the earliest episode of Love of Life I've ever seen. Another absolute rarity. Great work from Jean McBride here. (she also has a somewhat "wilder" or "fallen woman" style here than she had later on). I think she has a slip (she says "you'd never pay attention to a married man" instead of "married woman"). She carries through smoothly enough.
I never knew the late Peggy McCay (who played "Caroline Brady" on NBC's DAYS OF OUR LIVES) was ever on another soap opera. I also never realized how vast her career was. I mean this is from 1952!! :) :)
Thank you for Love of Life from 1952, and featuring a young Peggy McCay, who later did Days of Our Lives and General Hospital (where I first remembered her). Also, I saw her do episodes of Perry Mason and the movie, Ladd: A Dog, with Peter Breck (The Big Valley). Wonderfully convincing actress who was beautiful inside and out. May she rest in peace.
I've long thought that soaps or other shows should be introduced in a 15-minute format. They can work very well in that window. This and a return to radio soaps (now via podcasts) could both be profitable today.
One of the more unique qualities of early Love of Life is that they put all of the ads before/after the actual show. Notice that there aren't any breaks during the show.
Charlie was something else.

You're very welcome!
Fantastico recuerdo! Gracias.

Yes, she was on General Hospital as well. Such a career.
I never made the connection until I read your comment.

Glad you enjoyed it.
They need to reintroduce a whole line of soap operas with 15 minute durations/shorts because peoples attention span are so short now.

It's a real struggle for human dignity when you have to do it 15 minutes at a time (minus commercials)
Don Hancock was a fine announcer.
They do, it’s called TikTok.
The show started at 15 minutes, and went to 30 . Later cut to 25 and back to 30 in its final years.
When playing the organ live was a full time job.
Yes .
Very clear audio and video quality for a vintage 1950s kinescope!
Stan Sawyer speaks for Wizard Deodorizer.
This really is radio with pictures.
The ads are longer than the show!
American Home Products wanted their money's worth in sponsoring the program.

Do you know how hard it was for them to come up with a marketing plan for their new laxative?
I wonder if that Wizard stuff sprayed a lot of people in the face.
A squeeze bottle?
Charlie Harper is a real jerk. Meg is too good for him!
Charlie is a weenie!
I wonder if the writers from Two and a Half Men were inspired by early LOL episodes when finding a name for Charlie Sheen's character.
❤❤❤
I thought that divorce had been a taboo subject for early-50s TV.
As seen weekdays at 12 Noon(et).
Love of Life aired at 12:15 from its debut in September 1951 until it expanded to 30 minutes in April 1958 when it began airing at 12 noon.
Oh, yes! My mistake. '"BRIDE AND GROOM" was scheduled before "LOVE OF LIFE" at 12 Noon at the time.
Stay tuned for “The Jack Benny Show” on the CBS Television Network.
Search for Tomorrow followed Love at Life on the CBS daytime schedule from 1951 to 1969.
In 1952, Jack was on every third Sunday at 7:30pm(et).
Jack Benny: "NOW CUT THAT OUT!!"
