The supplies are in place. The problem is access after torrential flooding. The area is low where the hurricane is scheduled to land and the St.John's River flows north. So the whole length of Florida will see coastal and interior flooding as tributaries flow into the St.John's from south to north with the predicted rains.
As a very young kid, also living right where the eye wall is going to be at for some time. I am worried for my saftey and hope that everyone in Florida stays safe.
It's dangerous but when it's over the community always comes together and works through it. You will get older and see more of these storms. Just keep in mind that each time it happens people get better at rebuilding, and they learn smart lessons.

As a person who has rode out several major Hurricanes in my life time if you are near path of center of storm I highly recommend getting out of the way these storms are nothing like cat 1 or 2 storms they spawn many tornadoes and the number of trees that will come down will ruin power for weeks or longer and when the sun returns and burns off rain it will be miserable humid and hot with every wild animal looking for refuge not a place for the elderly or children especially please take heed

Sadly contrary to the Governor's emergency declaration Medicare contracted prescription companies are not okaying early presciption refills for Florida seniors. This is an ongoing problem for seniors even when there is no emergency like during a hurricane. Eyedrops for glaucoma is especially fraught with grief for seniors. This refusal by insurance companies to fill prescriprions early needs to be addressed. It's not like seniors are dope addicts. And they are stressed enough without having to fight pharmacies and insurance companies.

Why do weather channels NEVER show the entire track of the hurricane? They only show doppler radar images of the last couple hours and then ONLY show prior tracking simulations.
Anything over a day is can change by up to 300 miles or more although forecasts are better ,exactly pinpointing is several years to decades away too many variables some are really becoming predictable others are still being learned and studied
You move there you know the risks. Plus the overdevelopment destroyed protective buffers and mangroves. Just hope the manatees will be ok. They starved because Floridians couldn't fix their sewers.

I wish architects in Hurricaine prone areas would build houses stop a platform on strong concrete stilts. The lower level beneath the platform could have removable walls that would be taken away before a storm surge hits. Pray for Florida.

The National Hurricane Center has been an absolutely horrific disaster in predicting this particular hurricane! The early predictions for this storm were a landfall in Southwest Florida on Wednesday last week. Then the projected landfall moved north and west over the weekend by about 400 to 450 miles to the Tallahassee and Panama City region. Then it moved 300 miles southeast to the Tampa area on Sunday and Monday. Now the projected landfall today is about 100 miles south of Tampa. What an inexcusable disaster the NHC has created for emergency disaster management officials with this hurricane. I wouldn’t say that a projected landfall gap of well over 400 miles in two to three days of forecasting is a success story. A gap of over 400 miles in their predictions of landfall in a few days time is just not acceptable! This shouldn’t be acceptable to the American people from a government agency such as the NHC. I’ve seen many hurricanes in my lifetime. This is without any doubt the most poorly predicted hurricane I’ve ever seen in my lifetime!
They were only going by the different models and the models were all over the place. The European model showed it traveling East and that's exactly what happened.
It's like every weather forecast today. They have all become inaccurate over the last few years. I've seen it go from snow to rain and from 10" to a dusting here in the North.

I wish architects in Hurricaine prone areas would build houses stop a platform on strong concrete stilts. The lower level beneath the platform could have removable walls that would be taken away before a storm surge hits. Pray for Florida.
You realize this is hindsight. Some buildings in South Louisiana have had this for the last thirty years.

It's totally blown out proportion. You have to consider the fact it'll be touchdown on the outer skirts of state. Decreasing its severity.
Charlie was the last one to do this same path in 04 an it destroyed punta gorda we were wothout power in clearwater for 4 or 5 days lots of trees down

Imma die from the stupid hurricane
The National Hurricane Center has been an absolutely horrific disaster in predicting this particular hurricane! The early predictions for this storm were a landfall in Southwest Florida on Wednesday last week. Then the projected landfall moved north and west over the weekend by about 400 to 450 miles to the Tallahassee and Panama City region. Then it moved 300 miles southeast to the Tampa area on Sunday and Monday. Now the projected landfall today is about 100 miles south of Tampa.
What an inexcusable disaster the NHC has created for emergency disaster management officials with this hurricane. I wouldn’t say that a projected landfall gap of well over 400 miles in two to three days of forecasting is a success story. A gap of over 400 miles in their predictions of landfall in a few days time is just not acceptable! This shouldn’t be acceptable to the American people from a government agency such as the NHC. I’ve seen many hurricanes in my lifetime. This is without any doubt the most poorly predicted hurricane I’ve ever seen in my lifetime!
Our planet's weather system is really dynamic, and this makes extremely accurate predictions beyond just a day or so for some things rather difficult.
They were only going by the different models and the models were all over the place. The European model showed it traveling East and that's exactly what happened.
It's like every weather forecast today. They have all become inaccurate over the last few years. I've seen it go from snow to rain and from 10" to a dusting here in the North.
Hurricane prediction is not an absolute science. That's why they call it a 'prediction.' 🙄
Too many variables impact the direction. Educated guesses is basically what you get until it nears the coast. Mother Nature not man is in control.
Looks like Tampa lucked out again, 100 years and counting......
