This simple move caused him to have no hands on the steering wheel while driving 70 mph. Suddenly, traffic braked hard. He looked up and tried to steer the car left, away from hitting the car in front of him. The semitruck in the left lane couldn’t react fast enough as he hit Bob’s car on the driver’s side. Bob sadly later died from his injuries in the hospital. This is an important reminder to NOT BE ON YOUR PHONE WHILE DRIVING.

my dad (he's in his 50s now) and a group of his friends skipped school and took some drugs. one of his friends wanted to make a campfire despite it being hot as shit outside. he decided to pour a ton of gasoline on it and he burst into flames. my dad noted that he stood still for a second before he started screaming and was flopping like a fish. the friend died obviously. I don't know what my dad or his friends did during or after the guy dying. he might not have taken it as seriously as he shouldve since he was high as hell. my dad is really casual with the deaths of his friends especially since he’s getting older and him having health issues. he remembered this while we were watching this video
I was working at an auto car wash just yesterday. I was hired to do some of the wiring for one of the machines. When I was taking with the owner he told me of all the different story’s of how people died in one. It’s mind boggling on how dangerous a car wash is.

I have a story, so once my gramma went on a vacation with her daughter, her daughter’s friend and her dughter’s friend’s mom. Eventually the vacation ended and they went to the airport. My gramma noticed that the other mom was a bit nerves, so she offers her to take the wheel, yet she didn’t agree. They were starting to get late for the flight and they aren’t getting any close to the airport. Out of stress, the other mom didn’t notice any signs, and she also ended up on the runway. Luckily security found them, and they were all fine

An interesting sidelight on the janitor story is that a lot of elevator shafts have a space at the top to avoid this sort of accident. It's a bit cramped and often very dirty, and the possibility of serious bruising (but not death unless you are very stupid or unlucky) is always possible, but you should survive. So this guy is doubly unlucky.
I can just see some idiot reading your comment and thinking (if idiots can think) the janitor was just unlucky and it really ok to get atop an elevator for a fun ride. Only to discover the hard way that the janitor is not the only unlucky guy around.
Same thought occurred to me, but the regulations for "man clearance" do vary from country to country (even state to state). Where I come from, elevators also have to have a big red emergency stop button on the roof in case someone finds themselves in this position - but that might not be the case everywhere.
I'm thinking it either A: never happened, B: didn't happen in the US where there are like a million safety regulations in place, or C: it was a very, VERY old model. I mean there was a building downtown here that still had one of those really old cage door elevators, and they still employed the same guy to operate it for like 70 years. The building didn't update the elevator to a modern one until he was literally too old to work anymore.
@adamb89 A lot of companies that have those old elevators will keep them around for the novelty of it. There was an old department store in downtown Colorado Springs that had one of those cage elevators. My brother and I LOVED riding it, as did our mother, who grew up shopping in places like that. I think the building is still there, but I don't know anout the elevator.

Usually elevators have a gap at the top and bottom of their shaft so elevator workers can work on them if they are stuck. Sounds more like a building code violation.

It was 2019, and my good friend deserves his Darwin Award; he was trained in gun safety and even told my kids never to point a firearm at anything you weren't ready to kill. He and two friends shot at a Kevlar vest on a tree stump with no ammo going through. Sure enough, he put on the vest, dared his friend with zero gun experience to shoot him, assured his friend he would be fine, and the bullet ricocheted within the Kevlar which increased his chance of death. He died in the OR that night. I love and miss him. I think he would find his place on this list humorous, though.

5:20-The worst of this is, the train had to be taken out of service for repairs. Thus adding to commuter delays. Not to mention the shock of the conductor who found the body. 6:40- There's more than one hitch. Well a 15 years old teenager thought that I can't hurt him with my small city car which weights only 650 kilograms (was kinda too small one ) with some 30km/h , while he was making dangerous exhibitions with his scooter , his father weights 120kg , gave him an average slap and his butt kissed the ground and literary saved him for wining a Darwin's award, sometimes a good old ways are the best ones

Every year where I work; the Air Force base we work on has a regular list of Darwin Award contenders who get banned off the base for staying during hurricane season when evacuation is called. We haven't had one die of a hurricane yet; but those who risk it are found by the base MPs and booted off the base and never permitted to return again.
I can recount that I’ve eaten: A poisonous nightshade berry (right after my dad specifically told me NOT to.) Bird poop (I was very, very young, cut me some slack LOL) Some sort of detergent spray (again, I was very young) A raw (and also dead) tiny clam Raw meat (small amounts on several occasions) And also overdosed on cherry-flavored Tums because they weren’t working fast enough. Might add more if I remember other stupid things I’ve eaten.
The south Africa one is pretty normal , the municipal workers would sometimes leave the taped off area for weeks or months before they remove the tape , even if they haven't work there in a long time. So it's very common to just walk across

That tree cutting one hits too well to home since i have done plenty of roof clearing from snow (Finland) and the amount of ppl i see that think that those lines put around the dangerous area don't apply to them baffles me. Are you sure that the Florida teens were Florida teens? It was 2019, and my good friend deserves his Darwin Award; he was trained in gun safety and even told my kids never to point a firearm at anything you weren't ready to kill. He and two friends shot at a Kevlar vest on a tree stump with no ammo going through. Sure enough, he put on the vest, dared his friend with zero gun experience to shoot him, assured his friend he would be fine, and the bullet ricocheted within the Kevlar which increased his chance of death. He died in the OR that night. I love and miss him. I think he would find his place on this list humorous, though.

Well a 15 years old teenager thought that I can't hurt him with my small city car which weights only 650 kilograms (was kinda too small one ) with some 30km/h , while he was making dangerous exhibitions with his scooter , his father weights 120kg , gave him an average slap and his butt kissed the ground and literary saved him for wining a Darwin's award, sometimes a good old ways are the best ones

I can understand somebody being stupid enough to juggle a grenade, assuming it's perfectly safe so long as the pin isn't tampered. But just trying to imagine what it would take to pull the pin before juggling gives me a headache.

Every year where I work; the Air Force base we work on has a regular list of Darwin Award contenders who get banned off the base for staying during hurricane season when evacuation is called. We haven't had one die of a hurricane yet; but those who risk it are found by the base MPs and booted off the base and never permitted to return again.

I can recount that I’ve eaten:
A poisonous nightshade berry (right after my dad specifically told me NOT to.)
Bird poop (I was very, very young, cut me some slack LOL)
Some sort of detergent spray (again, I was very young)
A raw (and also dead) tiny clam
Raw meat (small amounts on several occasions)
And also overdosed on cherry-flavored Tums because they weren’t working fast enough.
Might add more if I remember other stupid things I’ve eaten.
The south Africa one is pretty normal , the municipal workers would sometimes leave the taped off area for weeks or months before they remove the tape , even if they haven't work there in a long time. So it's very common to just walk across

Although he did not die, my guy should be mentioned. A tourist in the Misamis Oriental province in the Philippines stopped by a zoo where he saw what he believed to be a plastic crocodile. You can see where this is going. He climbed over the enclosure and entered the pool to take a selfie. He was bitten up but not killed. A winner!
