Among the 3 versions, this is my favorite. But, I am still adapting to this kind of shoe as I am a cadence runner. My groin area and upper thigh got tired easily using AF3.
I'm 7days out my from spring marathon, and I'm running in the AF V3. I was hoping that if you gave the shoe a chance it would change your mind. I've run marathons in the AF V1 and V2 and the V3 is so much better (for me)....without making itself known. It just works, its so smooth, and yes...the stride length is naturally longer without feeling like the bounce is out of control.
As I said I sold mine....I leave them for elites and sub elites to wear. Alphafly 1 is still best for me. Don't bonk , stay even paced and thus you won't feel that lethargic clonkiness ;) try to even split a Marathon and youll love them.... the 1s and the 3s
@@TheFODRunner im just wondering if you can you give me some advice on how you keep a fast pace with out stopping even if your thighs hurt thanks I want to be able to keep going
They are selling some of the original Alphaflys on Sport Pursuit for £130 so am going to give those a whirl. I find anything above 10k on Vaporflys leaves my feet in pieces.
Just won a StockX bid for a pair of these, but not sure if they'll arrive before the Bristol 10K. If they don't I'll be running my old Vaporfly Next. Thanks for the review - they sound really promising, if insanely expensive!
Great video. Count me a new subscriber! Curious what is your height, weight and age group? I have similar build. Most of these running channels feature much smaller guys
Great review. Andy, for a guy at 86-88kg I’d think the AF3 /Cielo and possibly the Adidas Pro 4 once released and maybe the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3, if you can get a “13”, would offer you more protection (faster recovery) and given your overall size the additional weight may be worth the trade off for you and other bigger runners (even at the pointy end) verses an VF3 or a Meta Speed Sky Paris (no size 13). Your enjoyment of the Saucony Pro 3 and Elite suggest the a bigger wider shoe like an AF3 could work well even at 5-10km … I’d be interested in how you conclude on Super shoes for 80kg + runners… I don’t think less stable sun 200g racers are everything they are cracked up to be for bigger runners. This is something you could explore that no other channel really deals with effectively…? Honourable mention to Tim Grose as he is an encyclopaedia of knowledge but he is actually quite a lot lighter so lighter. Joe Skipper is over 80kg but he is elite and sponsored by Hoka so actually probably quite well covered.
73.6 kg on the scales this AM despite being a UK 13 same as Andy so maybe why I prefer the somewhat lighter Vaporfly over the Alphafly. That said I do recall doing a relatively fast session like this in the AF2 which actually felt quite fast. I'll have to try the same in my AF3 which I have kind of mothballed.
Just looking at the shoes they look like something from outer space. But watching you run in it looks normal. Enjoy again just the shoes look like my wife’s platform dress shoes going on. Standing still, looks huge but must be the same 40mm
Dreading the rise in temperatures.... +5 - +8 best temperatures for running. For the time being still feeling blessed with temps around 4 degrees here in Finland. Nice vid otherwise :D
I noticed the same thing! My stride really improves with the A3 - especially downhill I just run the Copenhagen marathon with these today and I PRed! I felt they really protected my legs for the final miles
Good morning. Great effort, Andy. You did it. Here is my Like. A nice weekend for everyone.
Great job Andy. Monster stride length! 👏
I love to run 10k’s and I’m hoping this is going to be my go-to race shoe! Thanks for the thorough review

I got the AF3 Proto and the Fastpack. They are my #1 full marathon racing shoes now and the VP3 for half marathon.
Hi Andy. Hit a HM PR during weekend with Cielo X1. Great shoe.
Andy I see that you're very happy with Alpha 3. Is perhaps better than Elite?

Hi Andy I've been training myself for long distance running and now I can do a 5K in about 32 minutes or just under 30.57
That’s amazing well done!!

Oh dear Andy you didn't say Hi to fellow runner at 5 mins in 😊. Great effort though well done

I love running with the sun Shining!!!!!

Could this help with 400 meter sprint time?
Did Nike accept your AF2 return after you had run in them?
They look awesome and weather 🤩
Great review.

The best shoes in the world ✌️
More like one of the most expensives.

I read something around +7 is best for marathon. But I guess that applies mostly to pro runners.

I might have to wait for the next colour-way. This is ugly the proto was fantastic hopefully the next is more like the proto.
