- In this video we visit the forgotten Roman town of Venta Icenorum, one of only three Roman sites in England that have not been over-built by later towns. Once the market place of Queen Boudica's people - the Iceni - its archaeology was until recently totally misunderstood by historians. What did the Romans ever do for us? Well in the case of Venta Icenorum they created a road network we still follow nearly 2000 years later.

Very nice video, thank you.
As a fan of Roman history especially the military side. This is excellent I enjoyed it very much. Thank you.
Very good
I am really enjoying your videos. I have gone kicking through the mole hills at Caistor on many occasions and have found pottery fragments, tesserae and the like.
Regarding the church, I have noticed that sometimes the floor in the chancel is damp & green with algae but the roof does not leak. This led me to posit that the church might incorporate a lost water shrine such as those at Dereham or Walsingham.
I have no evidence, just a hunch but archeological work on the church itself does seem to be a bit sparse....
great walk.
