  • The Over Under Pass is one of the most effective ways to enter the guard and initiate a pass without allowing your opponent to establish any form of control on you. Often when passing the guard there are many different variations your opponent can play on you and having a good system for stopping that up front is a powerful tool set for your game. Hope you like the details Andris brings for this pass.

What I need to know now is how to defend against really good pressure like this. Sick video, keep coming back to it.

Great stuff!! I actually know most of the details of the stuff shown here in the video since pressure passing is my thing too. It's still very awesome and I always learn something new still seeing it done from others.

Hey Jon, how do you defend this type of passing. I feel like I'm always one step behind and once my hips get controlled its already over. What are some recognizable points that I can watch out for and specifically defend against?

how to escape after your partner done a pressure passing on you and you are 1) side way with your back facing him 2)top knee is grabbed 3) his upper body is on top of your side body and your top arm is being controlled? This is after knee drag passing. Thanks. B

I don’t see anything “brutal” at all here. But it is still good and I will try it!

Well it feels a lot more brutal in sparring

There is a situation which I encounter a lot in training. SOmetimes people would sit upright but with both their legs wide open. I cannot grab their legs as easily anymore. How should I approach them and set up passing in this case, Jon?

Bunny Azorth If they are sitting up then I wouldn’t try to grab their legs I would probably just step over one so it’s in between my legs then try to go for a knee cut
