This is only due to "fleet" purchases from rental companies. It's cheap, has the "cool sports car" appeal, and 99% of renters don't know the difference between a LS and a SS Camaro. "I rented a Camaro, it was so cool." It's not wild and out of control like an SS, for most people who have never driven a car with more than 200HP. Yeah those resale values are no joke. I was car poor for the entire time I owned this car. It lost 60% of its value by the time I was done with it and I got really lucky on the private sale of my Camaro. Someone paid high price for my specific car. After that I started to get interested in personal finance and my future and really got everything in order, sports cars started to make less and less sense as all of the ones that I lusted after where tens of thousands of dollars. Now I own two motorcycles and ride dirt bikes. For Thrills to Dollars ratio that was the best decision I could have ever made. And for a car my daily is now a 2003 Lexus ES300.
My 2.0t manual is 3281 pounds! It's great up in the mountains. Passing in triple digits is no problem. Dives into corners and never feels weighed down. Many overlook the 2.0t because they aren't familiar with turbos. They are missing out on one of the great gems of the 6th generation. Stay with lighter, smaller wheels to reduce rotating mass. It doesn't need more power to be fun. The stock performance is incredible.
Great point about the wheels. It didn't take me long to realize that the stock 20s were way too heavy for it and negatively affected acceleration. I switched to much lighter aftermarket 18s and the thing feels like it could go airborne 😅
Thank god I found your channel man. I bought a 2018 base camaro not really knowing the difference, I just knew I wanted a camaro and this one was the one I could afford. Straight up, just gonna tune her car, throw a cold air intake on, muffler delete and that thing is fun! Plus it looks amazing 👍🏼
Good video. Your presentation format was useful with the comparison of the different model types. I am currently considering getting either the V6 or the V8 SS. Love the sound of the V8 engine. Outward visibility in the Camaro is an issue for me though. The fact that your blind spot monitoring system broke so soon is a bit of a concern.
Appreciate your inputs on this video, as I am jumping all over the place with the cars I'm considering. This helps narrow it down. Today at least, Im considering either going cheap with a Fiesta ST or one of these in V6 manual trim.
Both great options, if you go with the Camaro definitely get the RS trim it looks much better I would personally go with the Fiesta ST but I understand it doesn't have that badass presence the Camaro has. Either way go for the earliest year you can find, pay cash, don't get stuck with a car payment.
That's why I'm really leaning Fiesta ST, I can get one for so cheap. What's really holding me back from this is I currently have an 07 Focus, which is pretty much a Fiesta in dimensions and interior. Wouldn't feel like that much of an upgrade of a car lol. On the other hand, though, the used Camaro V6s hang right around $18k which isn't too bad, and it should be more comfortable in Kansas. There's lots of highways, and little to no fun roads nearby. It would also be nice to cross two things off my list of wants (which I haven't had before): A car with more than 4 cylinders, and RWD.
@@AlumarsX in that case I would definitely go for the Camaro then. If you can really find a V6 for 18K that's a great price, if you can find a higher mileage SS for 25k I'd say it's definitely worth it. but if it's between a V6 for 18K and a SS for 29k that's where it's hard to justify and you might just be happy with a V6.
some of the excitement when full throttle does come from how it sounds and the v6 sounds better and pulls harder in high rpms. the 2.0t feels really nice when tuned but it does feel a little slow when stock.
The Camaro 2.0T is a great Car for daily commute as the gas consumption is good while driving on traffic, however if you want to have fun it has what you need too.
The 2.0T is a fantastic car but definitely don't get roped into brand new cars for their gas mileage. You could get 30 mpg on a car that is $30,000 or you can get 20 miles per gallon on a $10, 000 car. The guy with the $10, 000 car is now $20, 000 ahead financially. It doesn't matter if the car gets 40 MPG it would take decades to close the gap between those two people. The difference between those two in fuel consumption cost is about $500 more a year. Sorry if that was uncalled for explanation but I'm pretty passionate about used cars versus new, I'm going to make a video about it soon

I feel you're a little bit too harsh about this car not being a good car enthusiast car because it feels like it's not going fast even when you're going fast. I love this. It just adds up to the "being in a cockpit" feeling. Plebs are driving, but you're flying ^^ They want to do a dangerous maneuver? You can safely do whatever you want. Want to run at 120mph in the mountains with lots of up and downs and crazy turns? The car will almost insult you for not going faster. Especially when I'm tired I love that the car gives me a very safe experience. I don't have to focus on the car's handling acceleration brakes as much. I just need to focus on the road, the car can handle itself and it's awesome. I totally understand that a lot of people love their mustang precisely because it feels dangerous. But we're not all feeling this way 😄
I think you actually have a really good argument here for the positives on the way it drives. While I prefer older cars for feeling a little more connected and dangerous. All of the things you listed on the way the Camaro drives are completely true and I do appreciate those aspects of it. The 6th gen Camaro is a very forgiving platform and automatically makes whoever's driving it a better driver and the whole driving experience is much safer because of it. I think you're right, that is not to be overlooked.
Another question that nobody ask is. . . Is it faster than FRS/BRZ? I ask this because the prices on thebbrz and frs are almost the same price as the camaro 2.0T

What mods do you recommend to make the camaro more fun, since it's a bit down on excitement out of the box. I knowing tuning, but anything else involving like throttle mod, or suspension, tires, etc?
Well I see a bike in your profile picture. That should be way more fun than most cars right there. I don't recommend modifying that Camaro. Blew my motor at 66,000 miles
@@TheCoolestCourier got it. track bikes you can't ride everyday, at least not for me. Only fun in certain weather and if you have the time to get to a good b road.
Hi, Jimmy. Do you think is a good idea buying a used 2016 V4 turbo? Is my dream car and I have the opportunity to buy one for $19 K in Mexico. I'm worried for possible engine problems or maintenance costs. Any advice is welcome, guys
No dont do it! The engine Is not reliable. For less than 19k you can get a 2016 ND miata. Wayyy more fun and bulletproof reliability. Or if you really want bang for your buck get a motorcycle like I did. I love my xsr900
Lol agreed, I got a lot of hate for having the 2.0 Turbo from camaro ss owners.. I had my 2016 red hot 2.0 Turbo RS for 2 years and I loved it. I now have a 19 civic SI coupe in white which I also love even if its slower. I do miss the power seats with cooling.
I just leased the 2020 2.0 Camaro and must say I love it. I travel across the border from Ontario, Canada to Detroit 5 days/week for work and I must say it's quick and gets great fuel mileage. I'm imited to the amount of mods I can do with the car. I was thinking of installing GM's performance exhaust and installing a blow off valve. Only thing I wish they did with it is have a better factory exhaust. It's really the only thing that lacks. My dad works at a GM dealership, I told him I was looking at the 1LE but he told me to just try out the 2.0 and I fell in love with it. So far all I did to it was swap out the factory 18" wheels to factory 20" off a 2017 SS.
Bro subscribed and yo I'm strongly considering getting this thing so what would you say about the base six speed version of this or should I look more so at the level up from base as far as features go
Thanks, but this is quite an old video. I almost exclusively ride sport bikes and dirt bikes now for fun, and I have a Lexus ES300 as the daily. Check out some of the newer videos
Ive been having trouble on where to start on this car. I don't really know where to get parts or what to get first. I've also been looking for a place like reddit where I can talk to others with the 4 banger. Any suggestions ?
You can but you'll most likely only get 15 extra horsepower and torque. without any modifications you can only mess with the air fuel ratio and timing so much, whereas a turbo you have a lot of air to work with because the turbo can always compress more if you tell it to then all you have to worry about is fuel
Hey man i got my car a year ago and would like to put more horses and torque on it, what all did you do to yours and what numbers are you putting down?
I have the same vehicle and have started putting in modifications and have learned from you’re Chanel on what to do and not to do the only thing I would of suggested and feel that went wrong on you’re build is adding charge pipes, any reason why you dint add preventive maintenance before tuning the engine maybe even catch cans from mishimoto would of helped it from not blowing a cylinder.
Insurance, insurance, insurance. The amount of money you can save on insurance is enough to build this thing to the moon, no joke quote out an ss and quote out a 2.0, for me its nearly double or more saves you alot of money.
Sorry, I gave this a thumbs down because while I am interested in this car the title of the video itself was misleading. I am nearly at the 12 minute mark and haven't really heard much about your experience over 2 years and 80K miles. I have heard over and over how awesome the chassis is and how prejudiced the owners of V8 equipped Camaros are...but nothing about reliability and/or your maintenance or dealership experience. I know most folks will think that I am stupid, but anymore when I get asked about recommendations on any car I always ask: who will be servicing it? So for example, as you point, this car is a bit complex and is certainly not the kind of car you would take to Quikee Lube. But are dealers any good? Are parts expensive? Do they break a lot?
I'm surprised I didn't cover that in this video, probably cuz I talked about it on channel before that the maintenance is very expensive and the car failed at 66,000 miles, the dealership quoted me $10,000 to rebuild the motor or to put a new one in. I sold this car 5 months ago and I never suggest newer cars anymore, right now I'm driving a 1998 Acura Integra where you could drop a new motor in for $300
When you tune forced induction you can always turn up the PSI and how much boost your making versus a naturally aspirated motor so it is easier to make power. but I wouldn't mess with this car I would leave it stock if you want it to be reliable at all
I agree with most of what you said but the Mustang crowd is much worse. Having come from a V6 Mustang(S550) they were so nasty.....nasty. Also you can match the handling and looks of this car for the price. You have to go for a used ATS 2.0t which in a coupe form is a steal because of resale.
I DONT understand my bro why is easier make this one faster with little money what would you do ? This one from 290 ft of torque to 340 per say .. the v6 332 hp so can you do the same thing to the v6 as the 2.0 turbo in order to get 50 more hp .. why is easier the 2.0 u cannot put the same thing to the v6 ?
Have to disagree with you on the reliability I work for a company with every engine type Camaro in my experience the v6 is the one that needed to go back to the dealer the most
Interesting I didn't know that, I was just basing that off of the notion that naturally aspirated engines are usually more reliable than forced induction of any kind
Yeah around where I live 7.3 liter powerstroke ford trucks are common. You'll just see people commuting to work in big ass trucks all the time. All of the Dodge stuff is pretty mind-blowing right now. I've heard from people who actually own the Durango Hellcat and the jeep trackhawk that they legitimately get 8 miles per gallon
After owning a bunch of 2nd and 3rd gens including one perfect condition 84 4-cylinder getting 30mpg average, scary slow I’ll admit. I always thought a Turbo 4-Cylinder would be a perfect balance for a great daily driver, old V8 hp numbers with better mileage and handling of a modern chassis. At the time the Pontiac Solstice came to mind as a drivetrain candidate. The new generation of “Car guys” almost sadden me with one car only mentality. It doesn’t matter the brand, there’s always a band wagon for it. And the cars they like to shit on. In the end, if it’s not fun, it better be good on gas lol
In todays world of 5 dollar gas or higher, this is the Camaro to own, sure the SS is faster but we live in a world where speed limits are a thing so all that power is largely wasted in a daily driver. On a drag strip? SS hands down. A daily driver with good gas milage? 2.0T hands down is the better car.
Hey there my 18 ss has those Goodyear eagle F1s summer tires and it’s unbeatable for high performance driving. My 16 mustang gt has these stupid all season performance tires which sucks A$$ lol. If I don’t trade my 16 gt for a new one when time comes to replace tires I may get the same tires on the ss. Nevertheless the Michelin super sport is suppose to be the best tire. Idk?
@@TheCoolestCourier why do you say that? I am looking at the facelift, so after 2019
Got to love the v8 owners. I put an rs emblem on my car to get a good laugh out of them. Ready for the dip this weekend! Keep up the good vids!
Thanks man, see you then.
Keep it up man.
Thanks, I will!
How u feel about the V6 ?
It sounds awesome and is probably more reliable
If you were going just as far as a tune and leaving it there, both manuals, would you suggest a camaro or a mustang 4 cylinder.
The Camaro is the better car but I would go with Mustang just because it does not void the warranty
What’s the mpg Highway you experienced?
31 MPG
What do you think about the four-cylinder mustang?
It's more reliable than this
Lol agreed, I got a lot of hate for having the 2.0 Turbo from camaro ss owners.. I had my 2016 red hot 2.0 Turbo RS for 2 years and I loved it. I now have a 19 civic SI coupe in white which I also love even if its slower. I do miss the power seats with cooling.
Less power can be more fun if the car is light and raw. I sold my Camaro and now drive a 1998 Integra
Yeah the 2.0 turbo is light enough to where it almost doesn't really need a handling package
Bro subscribed and yo I'm strongly considering getting this thing so what would you say about the base six speed version of this or should I look more so at the level up from base as far as features go
@
Jimmy Brooks hey Jimmy, your whip is crazy man, enjoy it !
Thanks, but this is quite an old video. I almost exclusively ride sport bikes and dirt bikes now for fun, and I have a Lexus ES300 as the daily. Check out some of the newer videos
How much powers are you making to the wheels hp and tq
I haven't dynoed it since the final tune but someone with an almost identical build to mine has put down 310 wheel horsepower and 340 wheel torque
Is this a good card for an introduction Cameron for a 16 year old?
Did you go auto or manual?
Manual
Excellent vid bro
Thank you!
Which tune will get you 50hp and 90 ft of torque ??
Any of them really but I don't recommend it because all it did was ruin my motor at 60000 miles
How did u get 100 more horsepower?
Catless downpipe, no muffler, and a way too aggressive tune
@@TheCoolestCourier what would replacing the dual exhaust for the quad exhaust do for the 2.0 turbo? Sound? Horsepower?
Ive been having trouble on where to start on this car. I don't really know where to get parts or what to get first. I've also been looking for a place like reddit where I can talk to others with the 4 banger. Any suggestions ?
Aaron Harris www.camaro6.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=ccc1a6ce70d3a6cbe0eb50f18532575a&f=234
how many Hp can be gained by ecu changes on the 2.0?
50 hp and 90lb ft torque with no modifications.
So you can't do a tune on the V6 Camaro 6 gen?
You can but you'll most likely only get 15 extra horsepower and torque. without any modifications you can only mess with the air fuel ratio and timing so much, whereas a turbo you have a lot of air to work with because the turbo can always compress more if you tell it to then all you have to worry about is fuel
@@TheCoolestCourier okay thanks good to know it's a 6-speed manual and it's already crazy fast to me anyways LOL
awesome, yeah going though the gears in the V6 is pretty satisfying at 7000 RPM
@@TheCoolestCourier yes it's very fun. 140 and 150 is no problem for that car easily
Hey man i got my car a year ago and would like to put more horses and torque on it, what all did you do to yours and what numbers are you putting down?
Zzp tune, straight pipe exhaust those are the most bang for your buck things you could do right off the bat
I do still want to add charge pipes and I Want to Build a Better catch can than mishimotos. There's is mounted on the side that produces the least oil
The Coolest Courier nice any charge pipes in mind? I just bought the injen pipes
@@CamaroTJRST I would probably go with those as well, how much were they?
The Coolest Courier $350 for both it was a deal they go for about $390
@@CamaroTJRST nice, I'll look into that
Can you drive the camaro all year round, love the car
Yes, it's honestly more of a luxury car than a pure sports car
Chevy could charge an extra 100k for these cars and I’d still feel like it’s justified
What kind of tires
Michelin PS4S, I have a very extensive review on these tires, check it out.
Si it isn’t a reliable option?
Good content
Thank you
Insurance, insurance, insurance. The amount of money you can save on insurance is enough to build this thing to the moon, no joke quote out an ss and quote out a 2.0, for me its nearly double or more saves you alot of money.
Wow, I didn't know it was that much of a difference. Well that makes me feel a little better I guess
I literally just quoted a v6 and the 4cyl. V6 was 271 4cyl was 194. I’m 22 with one accident that’s why it’s so high.
I had a V6 no problems. At altitude, I'm from Idaho. The 2.0 is probably quicker, above 5000 ft.
That's good. What mileage are you at?
I sold this car 5 months ago and I never suggest newer cars anymore, right now I'm driving a 1998 Acura Integra where you could drop a new motor in for $300
It’s light weight .. and looks smaller and cool imagine put 100 or only 50 more hp it would amazing .... it would
Make a difference for sure !!
When you tune forced induction you can always turn up the PSI and how much boost your making versus a naturally aspirated motor so it is easier to make power. but I wouldn't mess with this car I would leave it stock if you want it to be reliable at all
The reason they say 8 is because it’s symmetrical
What?
You should have way more subscribers
Love the videos, but should adjust the focus of the camera on one like this to the manual setting so it's not auto focusing constantly.
I keep forgetting to do that, I won't forget next time I'll write it down! lol
I see, I guess where the heat comes from will depend on which car you have. And yes I agree the ATS is a steal right now!
Hi! Amazing review, thanks. How tall are you? The car is quite low inside and I almost reach the roof... I’m 1,9m tall
I'm 5'11 just don't get a sunroof and you'll be fine
U always start your vid with wassup everybody
Technically it's hey how's it going everybody lol
Have to disagree with you on the reliability I work for a company with every engine type Camaro in my experience the v6 is the one that needed to go back to the dealer the most
Interesting I didn't know that, I was just basing that off of the notion that naturally aspirated engines are usually more reliable than forced induction of any kind
Leo is off base, My V6 Camaros 2013 & 2018 are just dandy!
@@patcurrie9888 I'm saying in my experience I work for a rental company you know they're driven hard
thats good, how many miles on them?
Had 22,087 on my 2013 LT Vert befor trade in, my 2018 LT has 802 miles, 7 weeks & freshly waxed
Dayum you really got 7 dislikes like you predicted! How??
Haha, good guess apparently
Can you do donuts in it tho?
Yes
Saw the comment that your engine blew at 66k. What happened? And was there anything you could have done to prevent it?
Yeah I could have kept it stock lol
camaro needs a 5.3
2 years 80k miles man i must no drive a lot 2013 chevy Malibu only got 112996 miles 😆.
No I think I just drove too much. I used it for a delivery job lol
My god I was born in the wrong country. :( I wish I could've been so careless about big engines, fuel consumption, taxes...
I’d tell them to shit on themselves.
Idk? The Goodyear F1 are awesome thou. I WANNA SEE DRONE ACTION LOL👍
You should try the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, it's basically the Super Sport but better. If you come out here for a video I'll use the Drone lol
The Coolest Courier YEAH MAN!!!! 😝 lol. Drones are awesome for car videos man!! They make intense car content for sure 👍 one day I need to hook up with you jimmy 😎 DEFINITELY!!!
State your question, make your point, move on.
When you move your arms around the camera tries to focus...
Yeah my bad
I've driven lots of cars for 80,000 miles. I guess I'm not a giant narcissist that needs to talk about it though.
I drove it 60,000 miles in one year, I bet you didn't do that with any of your cars. my channel thus far has been generally based on this car so why wouldn't I talk about it? Trust me if I could just sit on my ass and not make videos and still make money I would do so but this is my job and it's awesome, if you want more informative content go watch my recent video about car payments. Probably my most important video yet
@@TheCoolestCourier 60k in a year?? Yeah... you really didn't take care of that Camero....
@@curtwesler8724 what, he doesn’t do like most idiots who buys cars like this, and lock them up in the garage 90% of the time?
If I’m going to have to make payments on a car like this I’m sure gonna sure as hell drive it.
500lbs huh...for 4 more cylinders... I think not.
I said 400 lbs. 500 if you remove your 45 lb muffler, 25 lb catalytic converter, and the back seats. You don't have to think, it's not an opinion it's a fact, the curb weight on a base model 2.0 Turbo Camaro is 3339 lbs. A Camaro 1ss is 3760 lbs. If you do some math that is 421 pounds
I will get soon one camaro, i think i will buy it with 2.0T for daily. In my country taxes for cars kills us, for v6 taxes are triple than for 2.0.
It is a good car for daily? I'm 19 and i dont care about carrying people in the back. 🤣 🤣 🤣
It is a fantastic daily, its the most comfortable seats I have sat in. My Camaro is for sale if you are interested
