It's almost odd the qualities this adds to the vocal version. The bridge, first one at 1:09, is revealed to be such an achingly beautiful, euphoric part of the song.
It was January, nineteen-sixty-three When Johnny came home with a gift for me He said I bought it for you because I love you And I bought it for you 'cause it's your birthday, too He was so very nice, he was so very kind To think of me at this point in time I used to think of him, he used think of me He told me to close my eyes My gift would be a great surprise I saw tears were in his eyes He never meant to hurt me Oh, God, Johnny, don't point that gun at me There's so many ways our lives have changed But please, I beg, don't do this to me Johnny, don't point that gun at me Can I save my life at any price? For God's sake won't you listen to me? And though he was ashamed that he had took a life Johnny came home with another wife And I often remembered how it used to be Before that special occasion, nineteen-sixty-three There was too many ways that you could kill someone Like in a love affair, when the love has gone He used to think of her, she used to think of him He told me to close my eyes My gift would be a great surprise I saw tears were in his eyes He never meant to hurt me Oh, God, Johnny, don't point that gun at me There's so many ways our lives have changed But please, I beg, don't do this to me Johnny, you keep on using me Can I change my life for any price? Oh, Johnny, won't you listen to me? He told me to close my eyes My gift would be a great surprise I saw hatred in his eyes But he never meant to hurt me Oh, God, Johnny, don't point that gun at me There's so many ways our lives have changed But please, I beg, don't do this to me Johnny, you keep on using me Can I change my life for any price? Oh, Johnny, won't you listen to me? I just want you to be mine I don't want this world to shine I don't want this bridge to burn Oh, Johnny, do you miss me? I just want to feel for you I will always feel for you I will always feel for you I will always feel for you I will always feel for you
@@unclebillmusic I'm sorry but this is a cover, it sounds nothing like the New Order backing track. Just listen at some effects, how the "guitar" sounds and some of the synths, it's not New Order, I can tell you 100% ! ;-) Moreover, New Order never officially released an instrumental version of "1963".
@@Blank_Frank There is a post by Mkaymufc of a cover of the instrumental of this. It's okay, but not what I want to hear. I hope you are not referring to that cover. Despite what you have said, and even what you may have read, (and I have researched it) believe me this is the backing track !!! How this came to be, I don't know. If you know how to synchronize on Y T, I suggest you do that. Also you can can do seconds of parts one by one and you will hear that all the music is exactly the same. I checked out your channel, and it is very impressive with your live post !!! And I see that you and I have some same tastes in our music. I am 71. I started collecting records in 1958. In 1963 ( that's right, 1963) music became my No. 1 passion !!! You can believe me when I say that this NOT a cover !!! I can tell you that 1,000,000 % !!! ESPECIALLY THIS SONG !!!!!!!
@@unclebillmusic It is in fact a cover, but whoever made this cover used some of the original samples. Something that's incredibly different are the hi-hats. The original song uses synthesized hi-hats that are some from analogue drum machine, but the hi-hats in this cover are from the Roland TR-909! Plus just many elements sounding incredibly different.
New Order FOREVER!
I love this!!!!!!!! Wonderful instrumental version!!!! Thx very much for this masterpiece!!!!

Nice cover
Not a cover - it's the backing track.

This music reminds me of 1979 by The Smashing Pumpkins.
glad someone else pointed it out!
