I’ve been rewatching this series. And this has got to be the most romantic scene in my opinion. The way he rescued her, calmed her down melted my heart. This scene reminded me of my husband when his friend threw me in the pool to be funny not knowing that I couldn’t swim. All I heard was my husband yelling “she can’t swim” right before I was thrown in the water and he jumped right in to get me 🥹 My ovaries go crazy when I watch movies where a man is being a protector. Life is so wonderful when you’re in love and being truly loved back like my husband who I’ve been happily married to for almost 18 years.
NO BECAUSE THEY WERE TRULY INSANE FOR THIS. THIS IS PURE INSANITY!!! (The way he holds her so close to him… oh my goodness I’m melting with those two 😭❤️)
I cannot stand that they did that to her. For one, never do that without the knowledge if a person can or can’t swim or in Ruby’s case, her childhood trauma with her father. I’m more than happy that James jumped in without hesitation the moment he knew something was wrong. If I was at the party and I saw that she did not come up for air within 15 seconds, I would jump in as well. I love that his sister told them to stop recording. Thanks for uploading.

Like I’ve never seen anything like that in this country, I’ve been to lots of parties like that with kids who have rich parents and so on but it’s seen as pretty vulgar to be such an obvious bully. But they bully by grinding you down with secret psychological warfare and social ostracism and passive aggression lol - never this kind of performative meanness. People try to appear nice and polite and kind on the surface, and the vast majority of the rich kids actually are.

Ok, so I’m a bit late, but I heard someone say that the reason Cyril threw Ruby in the pool didn’t have any malicious reasoning behind it. If you watch the beginning of the first episode, either Cyril or someone in their friend group also there James in the pool in a friend way, and I think this was Cyril’s way of kind of welcoming Ruby into their friend group. After he saw Ruby and realised she was panicked, he stopped his laughter and excitedness because he only meant for it to be a harmless, friendly gesture. If I’m not mistaken, I don’t remember him being mean any of the time during the show. Just because what he did wasn’t meant to be mean doesn’t mean it didn’t end up being mean. I’m not sure if this is even true, but it’s an interesting way of looking at things :)
This reminds me of what really happened to my mother when she was a teen. She was at a party with all her classmates she didn't even want to go to when two boys threw her in the pool. It was like this scene except there was no one there to save her. Just everyone laughing and her desperately trying to get out of the pool and then calling her parents to pick her up and leaving with her dress ruined after the worst day of her life. I can't imagine why anyone would do stuff like this to someone but I can assure you it's not funny. It might seem like an innocent prank but think about how the person you do this to feels. How about we stop behaving like children and not entertain ourselves by another human's suffering?
I get that obviously there's trauma there but was wondering if anyone would comment what exactly her past is that makes her scared of water and have this/these reactions?
The next scene she tells him that her dad saved her and while her dad was swiming in to get her a boat passed and injured her dad, that is why the dad is in a wheelchair.
