    Scindapsus Treubii Moonlight (Sterling Silver Scindapsus)
    Sterling Silver Scindapsus, or botanically known as Scindapsus Treubii 'Moonlight' is a relatively new houseplant and was quite difficult to find a few years ago. Around the end of 2020 it really started creating some buzz. It was definitely the "it" plant of 2021 and its popularity has not slowed down.
    The Scindapsus Treubii includes a few varieties. Scindapsus Treubii Moonlight (the plant we will be covering), Scindapsus Treubii Dark Form, Scindapsus Treubii Mint, Scindapsus Treubii Moonlight Variegata, Scindapsus Treubii Albo
    Common names for Scindapsus Treubii Moonlight:
    Sterling Silver Scindapsus
    Treubii Moonlight
    Scindapsus Moonlight
    Moonlight Pothos
    Sterling Silver Pothos
    La Plumosa (Spanish for “the feather”)
    Sterling Silver Scindapsus or Scindapsus treubii 'Moonlight' is a close relative of Monstera, Philodendrons and Epipremnum pothos. However, it's much less common and can be hard to find in certain regions. Additionally, leaves of Scindapsus Moonlight are much more narrow than the pictus varieties.
    This easy-growing houseplant has been really popular the last few years, and for good reason. Specifically for its thick, heart-shaped, dark green leaves. Even more, its leaves have a stunning silver sheen with a satin-like finish.
    As a tropical native from the jungles of southeast Asia, Scindapsus Treubii Moonlight prefers medium to bright, indirect light. Place them in a room with lots of filtered light, or near an east-facing window. A south-facing window also works as long as it is out of direct sun, but less than three feet from the window to maximize growth potential.
    While Scindapsus Treubii Moonlight prefers bright light, it can survive low-light settings. However, it may tend to grow more slowly and not grow quite as full or as lush. 'Moonlight' may have difficulty thriving, and may even drop leaves, without ample sunlight.
    However, Scindapsus treubii Moonlight does not need natural sunlight to thrive. It can thrive in both natural and artificial light. Light levels ranging from 10,000-20,000 lux are preferred.
    Be sure to keep out of direct sun as this may sunburn the leaves as well as cause stunted growth.

    Hi ya Miss. Moody Blooms Thank you for this very well thought out and well spoken video! I didn't know a single thing about Treubii Moonlight until now! Short Story: I was given "cuttings"(if you even could call them that). They literally look like they were torn apart from their pot. So roots, nodes, leaves, and stems were still intact. No torn leaves, half broken stems , or super visible damage to the roots in fact the roots on both of the plant cuttings were very much white, thick, long, and plump. So my question(s) to you are;
    How do you recommend I go about caring for these? Like I said they didn't come with ANYTHING not even cup of soil lol just the stem with the leaves and roots hanging from the bottom.
    Do I need to pot them as if I'm just repotting any other plant? Just planting them straight in to recommended soil and then water?
    OR
    Do I cut them to make my own propagations? And then dip the ends of the propagations in to a rooting hormone plant in soild wait a couple of days to water? I hope you read this and respond because I rly am lost and from what I have gathered this plant is rare finding! Thank ALOT oh p.s where did you find that humidity thermometer/ temperature gauge in 06:12 to 06.18????
    ?

      Cuttings can grow in water or soil. Care for them as you would a regular plant, but no direct sun. Amazon for humidity

    What about runners? I've had mine over a year, it's thick lush sand beautiful but just started throwing out leafless vines.

    • @aingealtara1479
      @aingealtara1479 8 місяців тому +1

      .. I would wait and see what happens with the runners.. A few of my plants have done the same, and while waiting, even for a ton of weeks, I can see that slowly small signs of new leaves are showing up.. If not, I cut them off and try propagate them instead.. Maybe it's just my patience, but it always seem to work..

    • @moodyblooms
      @moodyblooms  8 місяців тому +1

      Your Scindapsus Treubii may need more light. If you keep it somewhere too dark, the vines will stop producing new leaves and instead grow long bare stems that creep towards the nearest light source. I'd chop and prop like @aingealtara1479 suggested. I personally have never let them wait for weeks to see if anything grows, but only because I don't like the look of bare stems. Good to know she had success waiting tho. What is your lighting situation like?

    I just got one and it’s on my south facing patio under the awning. Gets direct like from 4-6 PM. Is that too much light?

    • @moodyblooms
      @moodyblooms  Рік тому +2

      Mine do best in medium to bright indirect light. If it is in direct sun I would definitely keep an eye on it and make sure it does not burn the leaves. If it is under the awning it should be ok.

    Hey There! Great video!
    I have had my beautiful Treubil plant for about 2 yrs now and I figured the brown tips were due to under watering. You showed me it was!
    Can this plant be root pruned? I have it on a shelf, southern exposure, with sheer curtains behind it. It grows beautifully and it's leaves cascade. I love it!

    How does cutting vines make it fuller on top ? With what logic ? The plant will just produce a new stem from the closest node it was cut from...Can you please explain what you said ? I keep hearing this but noone explains HOW

    • @aingealtara1479
      @aingealtara1479 8 місяців тому +1

      .. You're right, it doesn't.. You use your cuttings to fill up on the top to make it fuller.. Your plant will benefit from the cuttings as the vines will be more lush and shorter between the nodes.. The longer in between the nodes, the leggier the vines.. It can also be useful to take cuttings, or cut a vine that doesn't have leaves, or just a big gap with no leaves.. That vine you can use for propagation too..

    • @moodyblooms
      @moodyblooms  8 місяців тому +1

      Great question! It will appear fuller as the plant can focus energy on new growth that will be at the top of the plant, as apposed to sending energy to longer vines. Essentially you are adding new growth closer to the base of the plant. As stated by @aingealtara1479 the new growth will hopefully have less space in between each node, therefore appearing more full and compact. Hope that made sense and clarifies things. Thanks so much for stopping by!

    • @thanostsarbos1197
      @thanostsarbos1197 8 місяців тому +2

      @@moodyblooms Hello. This is not true. The plant won’t make new growth closer to the base but will create a new vine at the point where it was cut.
