We were on the cruise before you. From Monday to Friday. We live in Fla and left before the storm hit Florida's east coast. On Wednesday they announced that Port Canaveral was closed so we were not going to be able to port on Friday as scheduled. Instead they extended us (we got your day one as our day 4) and the ship went to Labadee, Haiti instead of Nassau (also closed). I figured they weren't giving us anything but, instead they were reassigning your first day to us. I suspect they told their agents to NOT give refunds unless the customer really pushes. That can only be classified as "greed". For those not familiar with Florida, hurricane season is six months long. Cruise ships plot their courses based on weather and can avoid bad weather most of the time so cruising this time of year is relatively safe. Glad you were able to get your refund because turning your money into shipboard credit is not a fair exchange. BTW, if you booked in advance, they have already gotten interest on your money, so why be so cheap with giving you a refund? Good vlog, I enjoyed it. Keep cruising.
It makes NO logical sense for Royal to even attempt this cruise. It’s not even smart logistically. And blaming the client for booking a available cruise date is dumb. Sorry ladies they really tried it.
Pure Greed!! People are dealing with the aftermath of the storm, and all they care about is making money, and it clearly shows! It's truly sad, but not surprising. They should allow people to cancel their cruise without any headaches!
For a three day cruise they should have just canceled it. I can’t imagine flying for a three day cruise. They should have just cleaned extra for that day and a half. Hopefully they cancel it today.
Yes, @lindak! It definitely was not worth the plane trip down and back plus having to deal with the hundreds of folks that are trying to get in and out of the airport due to the airport closure and cancelled flights! We appreciate you watching!😊
We have insurance @cherylhaynes and it’s no big deal for us to do a three day. We have done it numerous times with no issues, except this time…😅. Thanks for watching!😂
When you call their customer service team it's a joke, they read from a script and could care less about solving your problem. A few years after the pandemic (2022) RCL was more accommodating for their customers requests then they are prior to a hurricane.
Yes @sharon-be3dn! They were a joke and very frustrating to communicate with. Yes, after the pandemic they were more accommodating. Thanks for watching!😊
All extra curricular activities should be stopped until the state of emergency is over and the area is cleared and safe! Ijs Imo...Disney also said they are looking to re-open Friday! I was like...wow. Can we pause to make sure those affected (even if you arent) are good.
Exactly @neshlane! We sure had no intention of going into a hurricane ravaged area and using resources that could be used for the affected residents there that need it. Thanks so much for watching!😊
Hi @Melanatedluxury! We thought that RC would be the last cruise line to do this given the circumstances. We hope you have a safe and enjoyable cruise to Labadee. We appreciate you watching!😊
RCL doesn't give a damn about their customers!! I was literally in the same situation a year ago, a hurricane was headed toward Florida RCL didn't cancel the sailing even though the state was shutting down and flights were being canceled. I chose to cancel my cruise because it was safer for me and lost my money. I didn't expect a full cruise credit, but at least a $300 dollar cruise credit which would not have hurt their bottom line. Lesson learn to purchase travel insurance if i decide to cruise between September - November.
@@qnsvlogs yes, hurricane season begins June 1, but the weather can get a little dicey during the months of August - October. yes, i know mother nature can change things quickly. ☺🙂
That's awful. I hope you get a refund soon. Also, wouldn't your travel insurance be able to refund your trip or at least fight with RCL on your behalf?
Hi @ccoleman! We are in the process of getting a full refund. Our last resort was going through the insurance, but we kept at it until they gave us our refund, thank goodness! 😅We appreciate you watching!😊
It's a shame that anyone would put money over human life. I'm glad you all got your money back. And most importantly, you all had travel insurance. I started buying annual travel insurance. That compensation is ROYAL BS. I have been loyal to Royal for decades. I just started sailing other cruise lines. Thank you sharing your experience. Gives me pause on any future travel with RCCL
Hi Joanne! After talking to different reps we got in contact with one who finally said that we can get a full refund. Hopefully all goes well, so we do not have to go through our insurance!
Another line also didnt cancel their cruise. I'm coming from the Midwest. Trying to find a replacement flight was more of a headache than it was worth. I'll be on the phone with travel insurance company momentarily.

So i see that they give it to you as OBC, but then didn't you skip the paragraph where it says all refundable OBC will be refunded to the card on file up to 14 days from disembarkation?
Hi @alwaysbebookedcruisepodcast! That was OBC for that cruise’s shore excursions booked for Nassau. Didn’t you skip the part of the video where we were unable to make the sailing because our flight was cancelled, so the OBC would not apply to us since we would not BE onboard? I'm not saying what they did was right, but there is a cost for planning a cruise in Florida during the height of Hurricane season. If people stop booking during this time, they would stop sailing and no one would be out of hard earned money. Florida/Caribbean just isn't safe during this time; prayerfully it won't always be that way, but we have deal in the current reality.
I do agree with you @angelbornred, but that would eliminate a 6 month window to cruise, especially during the summer for folks with families and they are willing to take that risk and with that, travel insurance is definitely needed. Thanks for watching!😊
Hello, instantly a new subscriber ❣️ So happy I found your channel. Let me just say I used the exact same words. Royal Caribbean is greedy!!!!! I am currently on my 7-Day cruise (day 6 of) to the Caribbean and unfortunately I became ill around day 3. They are doing absolutely nothing to try and make me feel more comfortable or just have any moral support. They operate in a very greedy manner and I am thankful that someone else realizes it! We are on the Freedom of the Seas ship, and it's very old and out of date. They allowed me to receive room service from the main dining for one day due to the fact that I have a fever and shouldn't be around any other passengers. However, I was told today that if I request any more meals I have to purchase them through regular room service menu which is not the same quality and it's not free in addition to that, I wanted to purchase some type of medication to help soothe my congestion. However, I was told that nothing is available on the ship and that if I need medical assistance I would have to pay that $200 just to be seen. I believe this is my first and last trip with Royal. From now on I will be using another Cruise line.
Hi @Mrs.NeYoAnderson!
