It's sad how we rarely see grant anymore
Elijah Wright She’s some sort of assistant that started to show up about a month ago.
The "sponge" was created due to the countless tiny bubbles of hydrogen gas, liberated in the midst of a metal with no structural integrity. Think of it as analogous to foaming at the top of a soft drink. The gallium atoms interfere with the aluminum's ability to form a metal lattice, thus permitting H2O to interlace with what is essentially atomic aluminum. The resulting reaction is 2 Al + 6 H2O = 2 Al(OH)3 + 3 H2.
Nate and Callie, thanks for the video and keeping us challenged and entertained.

Can you make clear wood? I saw a video pop up in my recommended section recently that claimed they can make clear or transparent wood I didn’t watch it but I thought I would suggest it
Its very difficult and requires the perfect scenario and the exact chemicals to make it work
@@Canadian_Teemo if NileRed someone with a fair amount of chemistry backing couldn't do it well I doubt someone with next to no experience in the field of chemistry could get it to work.
“We wear gloves for staining reasons”
Proceeds to rub it on is arm and get a big stain 2:05
It was just to show us it did help ALOT to wear the gloves but he did to show us
That stain would be easy to get off, but when you work with it awaile, it would layer up and get more of their skin stained, then it wouldnt be to easy to get off, or just take so much more time to get off
0:20 so weird. It's a cast of your face, that's completely perfect, yet looks nothing like your face :P
thats because the texture has an impact on the light. Due to the fact that galium is a metal important aspects like highlights and halftones are made a lot different
“My face is melted.”
Says in the most calm tone ever considering what he said
After seeing the new TKOR intro for a long time this one got me
Rest In Paradise True King 💔💔💪🏻
I know I already said this but the king of random if you Like this you will do this video: how to make sugar glass bottle
in soviet Russia
you don't break aluminium
Aluminium breaks you
Wow i wasn't expecting this comment to be noticed. Mother Russian always gets ignored
In Soviet Russia, you do not overuse snowclones. Snowclone overuses you.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA so original and funny haha
When someone says something and says what country my mind instantly uses the accent and I get annoyed at my self lol
I’ve been gone for a while. Where’s Grant? (that’s his name, right?)
Speculation online suggests two things, 1 spending more time with family, 2 some type of punishment from government for explosive experiments
He's concentrating on time-share style seminars. "I made a UA-cam fortune, you can too, just pay $$$ and come to my seminar and I'll teach you how to do it! Free cake!", that sort of thing.
he is the researcher/producer and he just wants to watch he kids grow
That metal should be called Galluminum
They are the next scientists. And it looks like you're their assistant XD
My life was an accidental discovery
GreenPlayz this is why I love UA-cam comment sections, drama, tea bihh, arguments, idiots, underrated comment (like this one)
The part when grant appeared made me so sad because hes no longer with us.😢
Who else misses the original king of random not that there is anything wrong with nate
Dr pepper can: I'm stronger then aluminum
Galium: Imma end this man's whole career
I made an accidental discovery when I discovered that your insurance rates go way up after getting in an accident.
so what is the 'accidental discovery'? Pretty sure all of this went how you expected it would. Interesting to know that gallium has this effect on aluminum too though, if anyone wants to see a crazy aluminum reaction look up NileRed's video reacting mercury with aluminum. It's amazing, one of the weirdest reactions I've ever seen, especially for what it just a metal on metal contact.
not only that you could use the alloy to make hydrogen and the process allows you to recover the gallium for reuse.
like he said it is amalgamation and I believe that is what is happening to the aluminum
So you basically made wet metal sand. That is really cool. In theory you could make a sandpit. That would be really expensive though. Love your vids.
So....
*you made kinetic sand, but with gallium-aluminum alloy?*
What will happen if you mix oobleck with petrol burn it.
What happens when you burn cornstarch the oblk will turn into corn starch and burn as long as heat is on it
11:08 thank you for all you taught us grant may you Rest In Paradise 🙏
make an alloy of all the metals you can get so you can make a super alloy. Then see what it does (ie durability and other stuff that you do with metal)
What happens when you put glow sticks in a vacuum chamber?
not much really, they're rather secure due to how thick the plastic is.
Put molten sodium on dry ice and in liquid nitrogen. Plzzzzzz?
1:14 "My face is now melted" *Summer flashbacks*
Video was in my recommended, wasn’t ready to see Grant’s face again. RIP to the King of Random 👑
9:38 to 9:39 the fastest reaction change ever seen on calli's face.
She does this often. I've been binge watching episodes and I've noticed it almost every episode
Test to find out what pencil lead does under exteam heat and freezing temperatures
What was the chemical? Hydrous Gallium-Aluminium (now called Galluminium) was my first guess, but there were gallium beads. You had Hydrogen bubbles and water naturally splits into Hydrogen and Hydroxide ions, so... Water + Galluminium = Hydrogen + Gallium + ... Aluminium Hydroxide?
Who else saw that logo pull a Tyler Durden at 9:24? Someone has been watching Fight Club.
Can you accidentally discover if mayonnaise is a instrument?
48 likes wow people sure want to see him accidentally discover if mayonnaise is a instrument
This has been documented with mercury amalgams, most notably the ammonium amalgam that can be formed with mercury

Have a nice day/night. ☺
Sorry.. My english isnt really that great.
did anyone else notice the TKOR logo pop up on screen for a fraction of a second around 9:23?

Try making rock candy Prince Ruperts Drops
To everyone saying "it's already been done," they just want to see TKOR do it. They aren't claiming it's never been done before. Calm down.
What I don't understand is what kind of person dislikes an amazing video like this.
about the last part, what happens if you get all of the crumbly sponge stuff and dry it out?? And if its metal, did you just make magnetic kinetic sand??
I was accidentally discovered.

This stuff has all kinds of practical application. I'm thinking it could play a key factor in the field of aviation an traversal through space.
Ok Grant, this one is going to be tough. Let's see what happens when you melt iron sulfide (pyrite or fools gold) into a mold. It's going to be tough because of the ionic bonds but I want to see what it would look like after it cooled.
Hm, it melts at 1177~1188 °C which might be more than they can handle, but they have done the ~800 °C salt. But then still… close to 400 °C more? :(
I love how he said"ok now my face got melted"so casually
You should melt down what was left of the alloy after soaking in the water using the crucible and see if it returned to pure aluminum!
Such a cool video!
can you accidentally discover bookworm adventures deluxe
Why are u in all comment sections of vids i watch. First pinguinz0 and now this vid wtf
When I hear the term "made an accidental discovery"
my first thought is always "what's the insurance deductible?"
ah haha , very interesting experiment!
funny how it turned into someting like thicker moon sand.
awesome video !!
3000 thumbs up !!
It would be funny to do a thumbs up mold so when you need to use it again. You relive an iconic terminator scene.
You just made Magic Gallium-Aluminum/Galluminum (yep i'm calling it that) Sand!
Would you try to break a P.R.Drop tail underwater ?
Try to freeze a basketball in liquid nitrogen and then try to break the ball
That’s totally like that green planting water sponge stuff!!! So neat!
This account has had 10 million for the longest time
@Captain Jake Has had is correct. It's the Past Perfect tense of to have. it means that the action began in the distant past and is still going on (if i'm not mistaken)
Ur aluminum rod test isnt completely right. You had the one in gallium proped and hit different than the normal one.
Not to be mean. I was just saying.
Ever since I started to experiment with acid, I've been playing black ops 5 with Scooby doo
I used to work for Lens Crafters and we used Gallium to hold lenses to the spot marker or a holder so we could generate the lenses , mark them to stick on the holder and also for the lense to be held in place for polishers to be able to work to remove the scratches from the lenses and to be able edge the lense to fit into the frames.
9:24, you will see The King Of Random’s logo.
I don't see anything, even with the slowest playback- oh never mind I saw it as I was writing this.
I made the accidental discovery that sharknadoes are covered in insurance
About to receive 100g of gallium and this video was a great start for experimental ideas.
9:23 king of random logo top left corner
It's used a lot in factories for internal molds on the parts being produced. I use to use it all the time to get internal radius measurements. :)
Anyone else notice the subliminal message at 9:24 ?
@@mayadilone1110 Why isn't it there the whole time? What is the purpose of its micro duration?

You guys should try putting gallium in the foundry and see if it will vaporize or maybe start boiling.
Who else is here because you got nothing else to do.
No, I've got loads to do. Like the dishes, and the laundry and hoovering... I'm here because of that...
Who else misses grant
I miss Grant, but glad he's able to spend more time with his family and less burning himself out. Nate is quite different from Grant, but he's fun to watch too.
My dad is a HUGE Star Wars fan and he's on the Empire's side, and when I saw the the melting storm trooper scene I paused the video and showed it to my dad and I started laughing because he was so sad from witnessing that 'TRAGIC' death scene
Interesting
So what's the discovery???
So, just happening on this after two years. Totally fascinating! Could you or did you bring in your metallurgy guy? I’d love to understand the actually chemistry here.
0:29 “here’s the basic idea”
*Proceeds to use acid*
What happenes when you put squishies in a vacuum chamber? They are basically filed with air so they could get super small! But, you never know!
