That last match is peak Party Crashers: Nick offering double points when he knows it won't change the results, Vern commentating his own great plays, and Brent doing consistently well until Eevee finds a way to undermine him in style.
And let us not forget.
Nick somehow playing Lucina and cool things happen.
Nick is good at getting reads, strategy and taking and creating opportunities. This makes him very good at supporting others when he isn't being toxic. Or in other words, he is very good at being carried. Probably the best.

There truly is a glorious balance that happens when Brent and Eevee are a team. If they win, it means Eevee got carried by Brent, and if they lose, it means Brent got nerfed by Eevee.

@@delta9240in Smash, Nick and Vern are both relatively the same skill level with Vern being the sweatier of the two, while with Brent and Eevee, there’s a perceivable skill gap, meaning Brent kinda has to carry him. Case in point: Brent played his best character K Rool and still got murdered by Nick & Vern since Eevee was basically throwing.
Tl;dr Nick and Vern don’t have to carry each other. Brent has to carry Eevee.

So Nick's and Vern's strategy was to get rid of Sophist first and then go for Brent. Well I can definitely say that it was a good strategy.
Imagine the other strategy where you get the good player first and then the bad. I sometimes do this when I’m playing doubles

Even if Vern lost the Corrin match I at least approve of the video showing that Corrin’s got loads more to show and work with than what Brent gives them credit for.

An interesting variation of the "each character once" rule, assuming that there is a way to set stocks on a per-player basis (there has to be, with mods/cheatcodes if all else fails), would be that if you win, you get to keep using the character you won with, but only with the stocks you kept. Basically a "lives last across rounds" type of deal.
