My brush playing improved dramtically in one day. I could already do these things but it seems like Ed has given me permission to do so. I think sometimes we worry too much about what is "correct" and forget that we are playing music which really has no rules. I never realized how easy these things were. Now its just a matter of letting them happen naturally. THANKS ED
These are the best instructional videos for brushes I've seen. Excellent!
If I could start over again with music and drums I'd get Ed to be my teacher. He's definitely gifted. Thanks for these short but sweet lessons Ed!
He teaches from his home now.
I'm an Ed Soph Brush Lesson Graduate..... 7 of 7. Thanks Ed! Blessings!!!
Thank you very much Mr. Ed Soph.
Your lesson make my drumming getting better everyday.
Very appreciated
A++ Often I watch brush video tutorials and wonder "this method might have limited upside -is it worth all the work if I'm going to pigeon hole myself into a corner for a few 'ideas'". I've never felt more confident that a brush 'method' will be more useful and infinite than this simple idea. Isn't a method of brushes akin to the method of sticks the method we've all wanted? Once the basic strokes are learned we can just draw from all the ideas we've already discovered with stick playing. Best brush videos I've seen and not mired in tradition either. This is progressive stuff that will help us all - today. Can't thank Evans and Soph enough for sharing. Now back to Lesson 1...
What a fantastic way of communicating something that, at first, sounds bewildering.
Top job Ed!
Ed be like:
Part 1 to 5: practice this simple pattern
Part 6 and 7: be awesome
Fantastic series of lessons. Ed is a masterful player and teacher.
Thanks a lot Ed! You're a fantastic teacher and those are invalueable lessons!! Thank you for sharing them with us!
Thanks Mr. Soph, the best demonstration of this technique. Lot's of guys play this, but I've never seen it explained so comprehensively. You are such a good teacher...I hope you got a ton of Evans heads for this lesson!!!!!
"It's amazing" - to me to Ed! Loved it!
David Curtis Drumming
Brilliant lessons I feel privileged to have been able to attend them. Thanks very much.

Super lessons Ed . Very pedagogical and musical . Go on with some more ! ! !
Legendary. This stuff has already shown in my playing (worked wonders on the “Christmas Time is Here” ballad). I only hope to progress towards his level of speed in some time.
Fantastic! Thank you Ed!
Ed Soph, thank you for the information. Are the snares engaged on your snare drum?
Very very nice! Most helpful. thank you Mr. Soph!
FANTASTIC job, Ed! You’re too kind.

Professor Soph!
Move pn, let's cut the bs!!!!
This guy is amazing!
There are a LOT of great teachers out there but Ed is at the top of the mountain in the same way that Alan Dawson was.
BTW, many of those great teachers I refer to were taught by Ed and Alan.
Awesome series thanks!
Fantastic thanks!
6:40 - "Check this out...then I'm outta here." LOL!

Fred Astaire on drums
Any brush manufacturer or model recommendations ? Anyone ??
Ed “this is the only way to do it except when someone tells you to do otherwise” Soph
A true educator, go to drumeo and kick out those meaningless drum lessons that worship stardom
lol there a few really good drumeo lessons though, the ones with antonio sanchez and carter mclean are v good. Otherwise I mostly agree with you. I watched one with Larnell Lewis and it was basically just him talking about all of his gear for an hour.
Ed Soph, Ed Thigpen, Head Masters...
Is the brushes American ... who cares I love them
