Great video ! Exactly the setup I'll use on my SQ5, but damn its louder than I thought it would be.
Oh yea it’s really loud even with the cats but it sounds amazing. Well worth it, like and subscribe!
Sounds awesome. Thanks for the shout out!
Thanks for the video - sounds kinda raspy tho'. Is the 4.2L better? Bcz that's what I've got. Maybe better if I went with the baffled JHM downpipes to go along with my AWE touring exhaust?
Thank you! The 4.2 just naturally will sound better as it’s a v8 I’m not sure what exhaust works best for those but I’m assuming most exhaust setups would sound nice unlike the 3.0.
That’s sick bro 🔥👌
Im getting pretty much the same setup installed next week on my A7 3.0T. JHM race/test pipes to JHM HFC downpipes with integrated baffle system to AWE touring cat-back exhaust system. I love the way yours sounds but I'm in California where cops can be iffy so I'm hoping to try to keep it down a little bit.
Nice! Hopefully the baffle system does its job on silencing because this set up get EXTREMELY loud when you’re over 2500 rpm. So far this is my favorite exhaust set up so I’m sure you’ll love it as well
@@TKWhips I'll make some time and post a vid on the setup next weekend so you can hear the difference. I just watched your other vid with the exhaust sounds and yes it is very loud but produces quality sound.
Damn this the only one I’ve heard that doesn’t sound all raspy & like a straight piped honda civic
Thank you man it costs a little bit of cash but I promise it’s one of if not the best sounding exhaust for these motors. I think I’ve wasted about 3k in custom set ups that never sounded the way I wanted before I finally decided to do what I should’ve done in the first place
@@TKWhips you walked so I could run my boy you a real one 😂🫡
So I got an awe touring exhaust with non resonated downpipes and I’m needing to get rid of my cats and go test pipes what’s your opinion on what I should do cuz I don’t want to be too raspy I thought about get Redstar test pipes with awe resonated downpipes but still don’t know.
That set up should be very minimal rasp compared to non res with test pipes. That was the original route I wanted to go but jhm’s cats were in stock while awe’s downpipes weren’t. Just an fyi once you take those cats off its extremely loud. Like “I knew it would get louder but I didn’t expect it to be THAT much louder” loud lol. You’ll love it
fantastic video, what i do not understand is if the test pipe have to be bought apart, thanks
Yes the test pipes are separate from the downpipes. The cats are located extremely close to the motor and aren’t technically apart of them
Is there a crackle tune done to the car or is that just the result of the downpipes and exhaust being installed?
There was a crackle tune installed for the video
That ZanDan guy cute asf
man how long did it take for it to settle for you because I just installed mine and it's super quite compared to yours. I have the same setup but different test pipes and also I have the baffles but again it's super quite compared to yours and others I have seen.
It took about 100 or so miles to get its full volume but that’s odd if it’s super quiet because mine was pretty damn loud from the start too. Maybe the baffles would have something to do with it but that’s only a guess
No it does not. I didn’t trust them at the time because I kept seeing horror stories about them failing
What test pipes do you have?
Eurocode test pipes
If I have awe track exhaust what else do I need for it to sound like this or close? I dnt like the raspy down pipe videos I been seeing
It depends if you’re catless or not. If you have test pipes like me then I recommend jhm catted downpipes or awe resonated downpipes along with the awe touring conversion kit for your exhaust. It costs a little bit but in my honest opinion I don’t think you’ll find a better sounding set up. It had me excited starting the car every day
So do the high flow cats replace the test pipes ? And if so are high flow cats better than test pipes ?
No they replace the cats that used to be in the system. So you replace cats with test pipes then the high flow cats are installed where the downpipes used to be which essentially causes them not to melt since they are moved further downstream. I like them since they did help tone down some rasp
@@TKWhips so doing this will make the car pass smog also ?
Loved this gonna have the same set up except mine has the catless DP and x-pipe on it it’s gonna be really loud
You’ll love it! The only regret you’ll have is not doing it sooner because these motors are way too quiet from the factory
@@TKWhips yup I have my awe touring already installed but my down pipes are on the way just need some test pipes to wake my neighbours up in the morning hahahaha
Can you make a video with more pulls? WOT throttle, behind the car, medium throttle, etc?
Yes we can! We finally got our hands on a GoPro so sub and expect to see the video soon!
@@TKWhips Subbed! :)
Do you still have test pipes or is it just down pipes and touring exhaust? i’m confused
Yes I still have the test pipes. So the original cats were located up near the firewall closer to the headers on both sides of the motor. Now with the jhm high flow catted downpipes what it basically does is put a high flow cat further downstream in the downpipes instead so they’re 100 times easier to get to and it helps removes some of the rasp with test pipes.
@@TKWhips I have an awe touring exhaust but not sure that i really want to go test pipes yet. do you think it’d sound good with those same down pipes or do you think i should go for a different setup
I personally love the sound and I get nothing but compliments on it all the time but I will say that outside of the car or with the windows down it’s extremely loud and it’ll be really difficult to drive discreetly so it all depends on how loud you want to be.
@@TKWhips i said fuck it and got test pipes. once i get tired of that sound i’ll get the down pipes. thanks for the help bro
You’re gonna love it! And anytime you have questions hit us up!
Do you think the s5 v8 could sound the same?
Unfortunately no as this is a v6. I’d recommend looking at some awe track exhaust videos for your 4.2 to see what those sound like
So there’s no tune on the car all you did was the muffler system ?
It’s tuned by Integrated Engineering. The car had a custom exhaust on it prior to installing the AWE exhaust.
@@TKWhips what tune does it have?
Stage 2 double pulley
With this setup did it drone at all?
A little bit but for us it wasn’t an issue we made another video on our channel showing the how it sounds from all perspectives. Check it out: ua-cam.com/video/R11a8dhMigI/v-deo.html
@@TKWhips Watching it now! You say in that clip that the drone is non existent at 75-80mph. What about around 60-70? Our speed limits on highways are 60mph here in Canada so I wouldn’t be cruising at the same speeds you are. Thanks!
It does drone at that speed a little bit mainly around 60
@@TKWhips Is it unbearably loud though?
That’s a difficult question to answer because everyone has a different view on what unbearably loud is. But I can live with it I’m not sure how other people would be able to live with it. In my opinion it’s not unbearably loud and it’s not quiet either it’s just loud.
Are these catted and baffled or just hfc?
Just the hfc. I couldn’t justify the price difference on all the options
@@TKWhips I hear the baffles help a lot tho. Additional like 400$. I’m about to do this setup. How loud is it? Sounds pretty knarly
But I will have done the baffled setup everything else very similar
You can check out the video we made it shows the exhaust clips. Like and subscribe!
@@TKWhips I mean after driving for awhile do you wish it was more quiet? Or fine? My s4 is loud and your video it sound good but loud af
What happens with o2 sensors
Those are technically left untouched since they’re located closer to the motor where the original cats *should* be if you have them.
@@TKWhips if you're swapping them to the further down stream ones where should they go ? Assuming you have the test pipes sometimes they don't even come with holes for them. I wanna do it I just don't know how that works.
Whatever test pipes you get they should have holes for them. I got mine from eurocode and they came with two holes on each and what I did was buy the vibrant performance j spacer for them. With those exact spacers there comes 3 different insert sizes you can fit within the spacer to restrict some flow to the sensors. I believe I used the middle size if I remember correctly and so far they work well I’ve only gotten o2 codes thrown twice at me in the past year that I’ve had them.
Make more video with pulls and downshifts
The video is coming soon!
Waaaay toooooo loud.
It’s pretty loud but I like it it has a great tone
