I think its really important to use trowel to get rid the sharp or vertical flake , especially if you make it at the bathroom floor. I didn't trowel it and it felt like needle poking my feet if you barefoot walking into the bathroom
100%. Also using a thick sealer over the flakes helps a lot. I would recommend sanding off the pointy bits with 100 grit paper, and then sanding the rest with 220 by hand just to get it nicely roughed up. Then use our GE-100 floor epoxy as a second sealer to make your floor much more comfortable :) globmarble.com/seamless-epoxy-floor-coating.html
Doing a cookies and cream floor today. Am a professional painter and in 15 years this is the first one I’ve been asked to do... super expensive stuff. $1,289 AUD to do a 36M2 garage floor- that’s materials alone!
Nice clear video. So, assuming I do an entire garage, do you wear spiked shoes and flake the entire surface, or do you paint and flake small sections at a time?
It all depends on how fast you work, and the size of that garage. Flake epoxy systems are usually the fastest decorative epoxy method, and for an average sized garage it would be no problem doing it all at once.
Can you use another layer of epoxy as a top coat? What about a more gloss finish with grit additive to a top coat? What is the timeline between putting down the epoxy, then flakes, then top coat? Thanks!
You don't want to use epoxy as a topcoat as epoxy isn't very scratch resistant. You can use epoxy on top as a flood coat to get a much glassier look, but you would want to use a high gloss sealer like GU20 or GP20 on top to protect the floor. A grip additive sealer like GU30 will always make the floor less glossy. You can apply the epoxy and flakes the first day, and then scrape the floor and apply your sealer the second day. There is a one-day flake floor option with polyaspartic instead of epoxy, but we recommend this method to experienced contractors only due to the high speed polyaspartic cures at. ua-cam.com/video/8HCQPBY8aZE/v-deo.html
Hi there, it looks great! Question: A shop where I clean just did this in a new break room. However, the floor feels 'prickly' and not smooth. Any idea as to why and how to fix it? Otherwise, it will be extremely difficult to clean; the floor will shred the mop. Thanks in advance!
A flake floor is not meant to be smooth, it should be bumpy to create traction. But if it feels prickly to the point of destroying mops, that means the topcoat was applied too thin. They need another coating of polyurethane/polyaspartic on top.
Flakes are much more slip resistant than metallic epoxy. For extra slip resistance, you can use the GU-30 sealer which has a grip additive- globmarble.com/high-performance-high-solid-polyurethane-sealer-with-aggregate-gu-30.html
Hi. I would like to do this in my balcony lanai. The problem is that there is a slight angle on the floor so the water drains out. Would I be able to still do this floor?
flake epoxy is the easiest epoxy to patch. Etch the concrete underneath so that it has a much stronger grip, pour epoxy into your etched bald spot and sprinkle the same flakes over it :)
I didn't use this exact product, but made this a family project for our garage, and everyone was excited to help out. This is a great family project because you pretty much can't go wrong. Garage looks great too! That Buckskin looks nice.

You can, but its not recommended. The sealers you use might be UV resistant but the actual flakes aren't, so they may fade or turn yellowish in sunlight
Epoxy flake shouldn't be smooth, it should have a rough texture. You can apply several coats of Polyaspartic sealer to shoot it out, but it should have a texture. It also shouldn't loose a gloss if you're applied gloss top coat/sealer. Solvent based Polyurethane or Polyaspartic are the best options. globmarble.com/high-gloss-polyurethane-sealer-solvent.html globmarble.com/gp-20-polyaspartic-sealer.html

Yes it can, but you need to use an acrylic sealer with UV resistance. Even then, it will yellow much quicker than if it was indoors. You can find our acrylic sealers here- globmarble.com/stamped-concrete/concrete-sealer3/acrylic-sealers3/

Thanks! Epoxy is great for bathrooms and other wet areas because it is completely seamless, no grout required and much more durable than tile :)
@@GlobMarble thank you soooo much! Wasn’t sure whether to do it in my bathroom, now I got the answer! Thanks!

If you don’t scrape after vacuuming do you Just TOPCOAT Over it ?
You MUST scrape and vacuum the flakes before the topcoat
How much the thickness and can use is outside wall tile?
hello where can i get all the stuff that is on your video, im from canada
All the products I used are in the description of the video, we ship world wide :)
I thought it should be primer 1st then epoxy then top coat. I've learned that primer is a medium to bond between epoxy and the surface.
Can we apply it to parking lot? If it is possible I think it will be a jackpot.
Of course!! You can even line out the parking spaces with different colored flakes

If you apply a second top coat at the end, do you have to wait for the first coat to dry before applying the second coat?

If you did it with flakes, you can tear out the side which has the imperfections, and repatch it
Just palm sand the rough areas with a fine grit the re-clear, we do that at touch-ups all the time
no peeling?
If the floor is properly etched and cleaned, you will have no peeling whatsoever :)
