  • Luxembourg is one of the richest countries in the world... yet it is one of the smallest. We visit Luxembourg city and wander the gardens, the palace, and other attractions.
Despite it's small size, there are so many things to do in Luxembourg that I feel like we only just scratched the surface.

    you said its a city-country?
well let me tell you that that is not true :) its what a lot of people believe, but just isn't right. Luxembourg city is the capital city of Luxembourg (the country), just like Berlin is the capital city of germany. but there are other regions, other cities some bigger some smaller, other districts etc. etc. Its not just luxembourg city, its a proper (but very small) country. sry i just had to correct that, it really annoyed for some reason :D

    • @WAYAWAYWithAsh
      @WAYAWAYWithAsh  7 років тому +11

Thanks for the correction. We completely understand that there is more to Luxemberg than just the city. It was miss represented by saying that. We appreciate the clarification.:) -Ash

City states are proper countries too (just to let you know), for example: Monaco, Singapore and the Vatican City.

@@WAYAWAYWithAsh No, it wasn't misrepresented, it was completely wrong and misleading. Not to mention, extremely patronising. Don't do a video about a country you haven't done your research on. It perpetuates and enforces the lazy American tourist stereotype.

You said Luxembourg is a city that is a country but thats not quite right. In fact, Luxembourg is a country that has a lot of small cities. The biggest city that is also the capital, is called Luxembourg too! :-)

fyi, that's not true. luxembourg has an area of about 2,500 km^2, and stockholm is about 150 km^2. that's about 3 times the size of luxembourg city.

Nelson Serrano Hi Nelson! You can of course ask me anything you want to know about Luxembourg.
We do indeed have a film industry here but there are barely any films made in Luxembourg because we clearly don't have the same budget for our filmindustry than other countries may have. But sometimes, maybe once every 2 years, a movie's actually produced here and it's in luxembourgish of course. ☺️

Stop spreading misinformation. Luxembourg is not a city state. Just because the country and capital city are both called Luxembourg does not make it the same thing (same as New York City and New York State). The country of Luxembourg was named after its capital city, but there are a number of cities, towns and villages within the country, as well as different regions that each have their own unique accents, culture and cuisine.
Don't confuse it with Monaco or Vatican City.
Second point: the higher part of the city is in fact the older part and it's the one that gave the name to Luxembourg. It was an old fortified city and the lower part was outside of the city walls and was built at a later stage (although much of the original fortified city was demolished and replaces over the years, which is why it might seem more modern).

Great tips for budget travelers and work stay gigs. After you guys get back to LA it would be nice to see a breakdown of costs and a critical review of your own experiences, in sum. We in the netherlands just stop in Luxembourg to fill up our cars with petrol. I went to Vianden in Luxembourg, that is a nice little town with a castle on top of a mountain/hill.
If you are in that region you could also go to Colmar in the Alsace, France. pretty Town. Just north of Colmar there are some really picturesque villages like Bergheim, Ribeauvillé, Riquewihr, Kientzheim, Turckheim ... just to many to shake a stick at.

2nd of all, we also have poor people. it's not because we have some people that are freakin' rich that everybody is.
3rd get informed about a country before you talk about it...
4th full independence was obtained in 1839, after that we were invaded twice5th the cathedral is not the highest point in the country but it may be the highest building in the capital.

I don't expect him to know everything about the country when he's visiting it for a day. You're just looking for things they made mistakes on so you can make yourself feel better.

I think it is great that you visited so many countries (13 countries on this trip) but isn't your trip a bit superficial? Do you really have time to learn anything about these countries? Surely Luxembourg is worth more than lunch and a walk around. Do you read up on the countries you visit or do you just "go with the flow"? Not knowing that Luxembourg is both a country with a rural area (2585 square kilometers) and a capital city is disappointing for someone who purports to be a travel guide. One hour of reading about a country BEFORE you go would be a great help. The Internet today has a lot of information available for free.
