    I think you are the best instructor on UA-cam ! Easy to follow, take your time to explain, and methodical . Really, really helps. I used to crochet and then just got away from it. I have been watching other videos before I found you ,and all are way to fast for a newbie. I was wondering if you could show how to do the small round face scrubbers sometime.

    You’re the only crocheter I’ve found on UA-cam that uses their finger to loop around the hook instead of the hook around the wool.
    That’s exactly how I crochet I was beginning to think I was the only one . 👏🏻👏🏻😁

      S Devine, just a word of advice. when making a washcloth the best yarn to use is a yarn that is 100% cotton. It's washes well and holds up to being machine washed and dried. Have fun with it! You'll enjoy it! Good luck! :)

    • @prettydarnadorable
      @prettydarnadorable  7 років тому +1

      Thanks so much! Yes I agree with Bethany - cotton is your best choice to hold up acrylic is just my choice - and for a beginner I find it much easier to work with. The cotton I have available to me tends to get strandy (for lack of a better word) and is hard to work with as it unwinds.

    • @bethanyb4645
      @bethanyb4645 7 років тому +2

      Pretty Darn Adorable Crochet Tutorials, I totally understand the strandy thing with cotton. I guess I just thought acrylic doesn't absorb very well. But since I've never used acrylic for washcloths, after reading some of your comments here, I'm gonna try one. :) Thank you for the reply and great video. Awesome for learning!

      I know it is a washcloth and not a dishcloth, but you never know who is watching and will misunderstand. That is why I thought I would throw in the disclaimer about acrylic yarns in the kitchen just in case someone thinks this might be useable in the kitchen as well. Check out www.knitting-warehouse.com for yarns. Fabulous choices there. Also the major stores like Hobby Lobby, Joanns and so forth, all have websites you can order yarn from as well. I live far from any stores so ordering yarn online is a blessing for me! Hobby Lobby makes a cotton yarn called I love this cotton that is so soft and easy to work with. Hope you try some soon!! One of these days I will get brave and post my crocheted dishcloth pattern.

      I was thinking the same thing. I've been crocheting for a long time and I've only used cotton for anything like washcloths or towels.. You need cotton to soak up the water. Acrylic will not soak up anything. It's a plastic yarn. Please just know cotton is the only way to go

    I may try making a washcloth with synthetic yarn now! But I definitely like you should mention that you like to make yours with acrylic instead of cotton just to avoid confusion, especially for beginners because nothing is more frustrating when you’re just starting out than having a project not turn out the way you thought it would and 100% Cotton definitely gives you a different feel when wet!

    You do the best tutorials that I’ve seen in the 10 years ago, or so, that I’ve been crocheting! I could have saved myself a lot of trouble if I had found you earlier! Question, I crochet tight so my corners curl too. Is the wash cloth going to straighten out once it’s washed?

    • @prettydarnadorable
      @prettydarnadorable  8 місяців тому

      Wow, thank you! When you say corners do you actually mean the edge of the washcloth? Yes as you use it the fibres will soften and become more relaxed.

    • @vickie4500

      Acrylic is a plastic which doesn't absorb water. This makes it great for scrubbing. I have an acrylic granny circle that I use to scrub dishes and one in the bathroom for scrubbing my face and skin to get those icky dead skin cells off. The acrylic yarns are gentle enough not to scratch your dishes or be to hard on your skin. For drying dishes, the counter top or my hands in the bathroom I have cotton wash clothes that I have made. So for determining what type of yarn you use just ask yourself, "Will it do what I need it to do?"

      Well, thank you! A few things about the acrylic it’s not as absorbent. I keep them reserved for the bathroom really because I like the feeling on my skin when I’m in the shower a little bit softer and I find that the colour doesn’t fade as much but my stepmom uses acrylic in the kitchen and seems to wear up well. Hope you enjoy the video.

I have completed intermediate projects and for some reason I just cannot get this. It's very scary. I guess I will go and knit my washcloths. Ldiane Smith 100% cotton for any dish cloth or wash cloth. Water absorbs better using 100% cotton. I use a 5.0mm hook. I only watched to the second row. It's single crochets which is fine for a true beginner learning the single crochet stitch.

    You called it back loop it’s not the back loop if it was a back loop you would put you needle down th centre of the V and only pick up the one strand

      Victoria Kuhn hi there No you don't have to block. I crochet quite lose. If you find yours curling may want to loosen your tension a bit :)

      Liz Hamer I believe all she is doing here is repeating the single crochet stitch over and over for 33 rows.
