Morgan Freeman's narration of the wildlife film March of the Penguins comes under Stewart Lee's close scrutiny in this clip from his Comedy Vehicle series. Contains adult humour.

I love how you can hear the penguin say 'in a dance as old as time'
The cosmic ballet....goes on.....
There are subtitles in that bit, not sure why they were left out here...
…it’s not a real penguin 🐧
I would love to see that duck documentary, but narrated by Werner Herzog.
"Unt now look how ze mallards f**k each uzzer VIGOROUSLY! See ze vay ze feathers fly from zere little bodies as zey shag unt shag unt SHAG! They take vot zey vant. Zat's how zey haf ALVAYS done it, from ze dawn of TIME!"
Werner did appear in a documentary including penguins... Search for nihilist penguins 🤣
I think Stewart Lee's impression of a penguin was far better then his impression of Morgan Freeman lol
As a penguin I must say his imitation of my native accent is disgraceful and offensive. His penguin grammar is atrocious as well.
After watching this clip, I felt I needed to research the mallard duck. Turns out Lee's facts were all true. They always struck me as such peaceful creatures, too.
Thank God for Stewart. In down moments, he cheers me up. Thanks, Stewart!
sure does
you can hear the penguin trying to say "in a dance as old as time" at the end.
stewart lee, the best stand up ever. thanks for sharing this video, cheers from san diego
jeremyshambles he wouldn’t even make the top 59.
the return of HISTOR at the end there :)
the penguin sounds like sean lock
Holy shit it actually does
This guy is awsome.
@NSsnIpeZ except that a great many UA-cam videos do not have ads. My understanding was that the ads paying the UA-cam bills were the banners at the top and boxes at the side. The ads that are locked to videos that you cannot skip are ones placed by whoever runs the channel. Is this not the case? In which case, why do other popular commercial channels not have ads placed to pay UA-cam bills?
Great sketch comedy and great at the end of it with the "documentary" of Morgan Freeman.
I listened again to the 'penguin' narration, and it says "in a dance as old as time" at the end. Brilliant.
The narration of the Morgan Freeman documentary was the best.
Love this man so much.
awww man i want to see that so badly now!!
Ang Lee's let himself go
ledjarde don't make me anglee
i'm sorry, what did you say?
You won't like me when I'm Ang Lee!
"ih ah eahhh ah ehhh ah eaeahhh"
Thanks, lover. You too!
@NSsnIpeZ what difference does that make? My licence fee doesn't pay for the internet, but I don't have to watch ads on the iPlayer. The point is that I have paid for this content already, so why are ads paying for it again? Or are you saying that it's not the Beeb that put the ad up, but YT - so why do other channels not have ads? I don't think that's the case - the BBC is taking ad revenue for it's content online. Fine if it's another country, but from the UK it should be ad-free...
Best standup on the planet as all of us with a brain realise.
@Epicurus341 This stuff should not be available on UA-cam, because I pay for it with my license fee. And I would go further - the iPlayer should be blocked unless you provide your licence number. Why should I give content to you - and/or - why should I have to sit through an advert for content I've already subsidised...?
March of the mallards lol
I was with my nephew a couple of years ago and we saw it. He said "look Uncle Tom! They're having a battle!"
If the target of the attack is dead.... is that still ‘rape’ ???
Yes, there has been no consent to the act. But then again, the ‘victim’ is dead.
This will form the basis of my defence if ever I am standing trail for rape of a boy scout.
“I was under the distinct impression, m’lud, that the little chap was deceased. It was only upon his complaining that I came too quick, that I realised my grave error”
What is the music at the end
Rape of the Mallards
@BlunderCats I literally have no idea what you just said. Is there a translate button on UA-cam these days?
Er... the ad at the start was for Sky. Surely the BBC can choose who they want to advertise before their clips?
I recommend Tom Michell's charming book The Penguin Lessons. Yes, the penguin is good. The mallard couple who come to the small pond that forms in the field by us after a lot of rain are kind to each other- the male stands guard while his beloved eats. They too are good and all is right with the world
Nice Gruntilda Cameo there
Penguins are necrophiliacs too, actually. Shackleton observed them doing horrible things on his travels in the Antarctic.
Facebook won't let me share this video link in comment threads. Says it goes against community standards. Hilarious.
Did the narrating mallard at 2:44 remind anybody else of Ann from Little Britain?
Pingu
If Morgan Freeman is not available for narrating march of the mallards then perhaps Patrick Stewart would fine job of it.
An isotope of the highly unstable synthetic element ununpentium (115 on the periodic table) has let itself go
@interminablecreature I have never commented on a you tube video before or since this. I'm not sure why... The responses to this comment are such a source of genuine pleasure for me.
The title of this video is Misleading.
oi oi
***** the licence fee isn't just for BBC programming. A TV Licensing spokesperson said: “Anyone who is caught watching or recording TV programmes at the same time as they are shown on TV without a valid licence risks a prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000.
"You cannot be imprisoned for not having a TV Licence. A custodial sentence can be imposed by the court for non-payment of court fines, including fines for failure to have a TV Licence."
+wolfie498 I haven't opened my haribo hole, I typed it.
If Morgan Freeman is unavailable for March of the Mallards, I think Alan Rickman would do a fine job too.
Not any more, unfortunately.
Morgan 'the mallard' Freeman's really let himself go!
Just discovered this today. It's now a "good" day. Bill Hicks is still my idol comedian and always will be, but this guy is the Frank Sinatra of comedy.
His routine on moving to the countryside is amazing.
@drongovids The full text of what the penguin says is:
There goes that little Morgan Freeman,
making out with a woman he picked up
at the Academy Awards Ceremony.
In a dance as old as time...
(The actual episode had subtitles, but they're missing here...)
@iamthegreatest2006 so just because this is a youtube comments section and not something like a televised political debate, people aren't allowed to be intelligent? Just out of curiosity, what comedian were you watching to get sent here?
Yet another kickstarter campaign that needs to happen.
@jeremyshambles correction, 41st best stand up ever
@thedivers100 but other people might, and I intend to make a special point of finding your comments and replying to them now, and I will definitely be responding to any further replies you send me here.
@mikeyk181 no i agree!! everyone bums his socks of- not one joke of his i have laughed- and ive heard a lot
In a parallel universe I made a funny comment.
There goes that little Morgan Freeman...
@KneejerkHateMachine - I cant remember any others Armando said - hit us up kneejerk!
Richard herring has let himself go the raping dead mallard bit was amusing...at best but I like the thought of a dishonest penguin
There's Ze Frank's "True Facts about Morgan Freeman"
We aren't reading the comments we are listening to the vid.. Shhhhh
Francesca Nash No. You're reading and responding to the comments. Clearly. Shhh.
alan rickman would do a fine job at anything
Ya, Attenboroughs got class!
Anyone know who the hot blonde at the end is? I've seen her in other stuff just can't put my finger on it....
Letting themselves go has really let themselves go...
What about a universe where Freeman and Attenborough have switched
@thedivers100 well it shouldn't matter if I reply to them or not. and public debate isn't necessarily about changing your mind, it's also because I think your initial statement was a load of bollocks and it doesn't deserve to go uncommented on in the public domain. if you don't want someone to critique your opinions, keep them private.
Thanks for saving me the Google.
March of the penguins is good. But I prefer the werner herzog documentary in which a depressed penguin marches off into the wilderness to die and werner herzog reflects on the meaninglesness of the universe
Too funny
@thedivers100 the funny phrase I was referencing was "right on" and it was a criticism of your baseless attack on his belief system. I think your last sentence speaks volumes "you were trying to justify" maybe it's not justifiable, maybe i just find this funny and you don't. maybe i like different music and films too. you're not going to argue me into disliking it so why bother? stop projecting snobbery on to me, it's your issue, not mine.
why does his Morgan Freeman impression sound like Snoop Dogg?
@mm1k3y (Pssst...you're just making us enjoy it even more.)
@MisterAlexGabriel he got bumped up to 11 in the last "highly acurate" channel 4 poll
@DrumTrimmings88 It's not that I don't get the jokes. It's that I feel as if he's condescendingly packing the jokes for a slower-thinking crowd because he drags out the repetition part longer than necessary to make the joke work. Basically a joke with the pattern "say A, then repeat B 3 times, then say punchline" is the same exact joke as "say A, then repeat B 12 times, then say punchline". The extra repetitions of the middle bit don't help at all.
lol theres a movie called farce of the penguins with samuel l jacckson narrating. its a rip off of march of the penguins. funny as hell
Looks like 12 mallards have watched this video so far...
Is the penguin played by one of the aliens from Mars Attacks?
Penguin sounds like the aliens from mars attacks!
Too much Animals Of Farthing Wood and Redwall I suspect...
Eddie Izzard also has a part to play in my inherent belief that all animals are secretly sentient!
@elchad252 Funniet Morgan Freeman impression ever!
Take care sweetheart x
0:33 im batman!(actly a long sigh)
0:48 ahoy
0:56 yes it did mean that/ 1:05 o ayup jim
1:47 maid
@lager1188 Hee hee - I was kidding - I enjoyed the sparkling brevity of your first sentence - I'm glad you consider me your mate...... if you're going to watch Stewart Lee vids, beware of trolls!!!!
I hope that in the 11 months that have passed since this comment you've realised that 'extrapolating this idea' of heroically going against the nature of confirmation bias regarding YT comments might be an extrapolation too far.
It's starting to look like those penguins may have been right all along.
I knew Stewart Lee must have had some way of communicating with an alternative dimension wherein penguins make incisive films about other species.
Nice to have that confirmed. Although he should never have doubted the penguin, should he? They are very reliable you know. They're God's birds. Probably.
@interminablecreature When I look at Michael Mcintyre I feel clever. More so when I look at his fans.
Snakes on a plane have let themselves go.
@thedivers100 isn't criticising people for being "right-on" in their belief system a bit like saying "I'm prejudiced but don't want to feel bad about it"? just using a funny phrase doesn't make it a bad thing.
@interminablecreature I hear this argument a lot. "If you don't like it, why are you here?!" I'll try to answer this once and for all. Confirmation bias is the tendency of people to favor arguments or information that confirms their preexisting beliefs. Extrapolating this idea now to popular culture explains people like you. When you go against your natural tendency to only watch things you love to hear and understand opposing points of view, you get people like us.
Penguins...
Stew tells it in black and white
Just like Michael Jackson’s song
...and, indeed, MJ himself.
BBC Worldwide uses ads because it is showing the content to the non-British, who don't pay the license fee. It is also a commercial business in its own right, seperate from the BBC but owned by it, and so needs to run at profit to justify existance.
I'd also watch the hell out of 'Marching With Mallards'. Preferably at night with the curtains drawn and whilst drunk or stoned. Scary shit.
Stewart Lee reads the Grauniad it's here and reasonably funny. He could have delivered this and the audience would have wet themselves given that they laugh when he moves the mike stand.
As he recounts in his seminal paper, The first case of homosexual necrophilia in the mallard anas platyrhynchos, he was in his office in the Natuurmuseum Rotterdam, when he was alerted by a bang to the fact a bird had crashed into the glass facade of the building. "I went downstairs immediately to see if the window was damaged, and saw a drake mallard (anas platyrhynchos) lying motionless on its belly in the sand, two metres outside the facade. The unfortunate duck apparently had hit the building in full flight at a height of about three metres from the ground. Next to the obviously dead duck, another male mallard (in full adult plumage without any visible traces of moult) was present. He forcibly pecked into the back, the base of the bill and mostly into the back of the head of the dead mallard for about two minutes, then mounted the corpse and started to copulate, with great force, almost continuously pecking the side of the head
@longliveE I imagine there are adverts because this is UA-cam and all those servers don't run for free. Everything costs something.
Except for manners of course.
Manners cost nothing.
Stewart Lee looks like Morrissey here!
Morgan Freeman's really let himself go 👍
I think he is funny. His last series on BBC2 was great. Watching his videos on UA-cam though I do find him a bit self-righteous.
@phillipbailey70 *slow claps* well done sir. consider me trolled, hook line and sinker.
@KneejerkHateMachine - Leonardo Di Caprio has REALLY let himself go (season 2)
This is very Bill Hicks.
@edwards21416 We don't have to pay for it. It's free. Good 'ol youtube, eh?
... and the penguins enter the sea and kill lots of small fish because they are positioned higher up the food chain... until a killer whale that owns 1% of the ocean's fish supply swallows up the penguin for stealing his fish.
I pay a TV licence, so why the fuck am I watching an ad for Sky?! It's not even an ad for something related to the Beeb!! Fucking lame!
Stewart Lee rules.
@jeremyshambles 41st best, actually.
Some of the lights behind Stewart … have let themselves go.
@interminablecreature UA-cam is an open forum allowing people to look up something to express an opinion. That is the point of the comment section. I didn't search for this video, it was suggested to me after looking at another comedian. Maybe that happened to other people who did not like this video. Stop trying to look intelligent on a comment section that really is the bowels of the internet.
I've had many a conversation about homosexual, necrophiliac ducks! And sadly they were before I saw this.
I need to get out more.............
OMG this is so wonderfully stupid - I love it.
