Dear Doctor. I'm 62 and a diabetic for last 22 years and couldn't properly control my sugar level. I found that it's because of lack of sleep , timely food and exercise. I used to work at night and sleep during day time. I couldn't get sound sleep during day time. Though I had a well paid job abroad I decided to quit. Now I came back to India and having 7 hours sleep, timely food and exercise. The result is very encouraging and I could cut down the intake of insulin .
Very informative about SLEEP HYGIENE ! Respected doctor, thank you very much for your detailed talk on this particular topic about having irregular habits, as far as sleeping is concerned! I am a diabetic, since 35 years , who is on Insulin ( Huminsulin R & N)! Since 3 or 4 months, my physician added Lantus injection(Insulin Glargine) to be taken daily, after lunch! So as of now, I am taking Insulin inj. twice a day & my sugars are almost under control ! But after listening to your talk about sleeping patterns , I realize that I have not been following your instructions ! I used sleep late in the night ,listening to my favorite songs on my mobile phone ! Now , I know that, sleeping regularly at the same time, everyday, my sugar level can be controlled, as you said ! From now onwards, I will try to stick to your advice ! Thanks, once again, doctor !
Dr.Mohan in western world there are multi story blocks of houses and some antisocial people play loud music that disturbs your sleep cycle without any control over their behaviour and it is not good for your health. All you can do is to plug your ears and that does not help much either. I call it cycle of karma that we go through such situations. Thanks for your good advice .Sai Ram.
Very important and practical suggestions on sleep. This video will help insominiacs like me I never knew that sleep can be a cause of diabetes! 5 tips for Sleep hygiene - are very useful. hope to follow them!
Thank you very much I am diabetic frm past 30yrs but perfectly under control I sleep at 9.30 nd get up at 4.30 go for walking (6kms) nd also on diet iam 60 year old your information gives me confidence.
Dr. Sir, I am Approaching 69 Yrs, As an Engineer by Profession, attending Normal Duties and Regular Emergency s and Start up and PROJECT COMMISSIONING ACTIVITIES, over More than 20 years of DISTURBED SLEEP , I have not received 6-8 hrs Regular SLEEP led to DIABETES and HEART ATTACK and after ANGIOPLASTY, I am managing my TWILIGHT YEARS of LIFE, in BITTER WAY. Thank you for your Service.
Seeing some psychological thrillers or horror films does disturb sleep. I avoid them howsoever tempting. My sleep used to break making me feel fresh at about 2 am sometimes at 4 am. Getting back to sleep would take an hour or two making it impossible for me to get up when I was required to. The next day would be working. So I now put my ear phones and listen to some guided meditation for barely 15-20 minutes. It worked ..and if that didn’t work I would listen to religious chants. Results are magical. Mobile phone is used but with Bluetooth and mobile is kept away.
Excellent video Dr. Another dimension that a diabetic person should practice. Not only diabetic patients, this will help today’s younger generation, to keep them healthy. I have shared with my sons who argue that they do sleep for 6 hours, though they go at a very late night. Thank you so much Dr.
@@drvmohan very nicely put out facts about the importance of sleep for all especially for diabetics..You are an eminent doctor still your approach to commoners is very simple devoid of any apathy or indifference..Thanks for simple explanation 🙏🙏
