  • Ingredients
    • 1 crust for a single crust pie your favorite recipe or store-bought
    • 3-4 large eggs at room temperature (three will give you a softer set)
1 cup light brown sugar* packed
    • ½ teaspoon kosher salt I used Morton's (yes, that much)
    • 6 Tablespoons unsalted butter 3/4 sticks**, melted and cooled slightly
    • 2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar
    For the Filling
    1. Whisk together the eggs, sugar, and salt until well combined and smooth.
    2. Drizzle in the melted butter while whisking constantly.
    3. Whisk in the apple cider vinegar.
    4. Pour into the crust and bake for about 35 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the pie is 165F. The filling will rise up and be nicely browned on the top. It will sink back to level as it cools.
    5. Remove pie from oven and cool to room temperature. Serve at room temperature or slightly chilled from the fridge. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
Reg Oven 350 degrees for 35 min you decide using your oven!!!
    Convection I do : 325 degrees 23 min...

Billy Gene I hope this isn’t a strange thing to say but you have very nice hands and nicely manicured.

Anyone in a kitchen should, I was taught by my mother your nails and hair must be manicured, just as important as the body. Thank You.❤️

My grandmother made one of these or egg custard every Sunday and oh I miss that. So glad I found your channel because you remind me of my dear uncle. I’m in north Texas so I bet we are in the same neck of the woods. It’s hard to be a caregiver for sure. My daughter moved home with my grand baby so it’s a new adjustment. Take care and God bless you and mother

👓 I'd get your glasses out of the bushes for you, if i still lived down that way. I had to get rid of my stove so I'm gonna be trying this pie in my "toaster" oven.👍🏼

This or similar egg pies or custards can be done well In a small oven... Custard put in. Pan of water to steam it they come out good

I've been familiar with this recipe for ages, but I've never made one. I'm going to have to give it a whirl. I like the idea of adding that extra egg,

Try it, momma said she thought she was a little girl again smelling and eating this pie, funny how our nose and tongue keeps lost memories alive. ❤️

Egg custard, buttermilk, vinegar and chess pies are all so similar. ❤️

I really like vinegar pie but today I had more buttermilk than apple cider vinegar so I made a buttermilk pie. Wish we were neighbors, I’d trade some for a slice of yours.

Both good and very similar, I like buttermilk better, but in the depression we would not had many choices, but just survive, why my momma and grandma were so resilient, and made me not waste and be thankful for everything I have... a good lesson that will not be carried on after were dead.❤️

@@justmebillygene I’ve tried teaching my kids and grandkids but most won’t listen.
When my youngest granddaughter was living in El Paso we did FaceTime so I could talk her through making bread.
I don’t have much but very thankful for what I have.
I enjoy watching your videos and even at 71 I learn a thing or two from you.
