Thanks Roland. Just purchased this blower yesterday and I was wondering how this cable was to be properly installed. Instructions were unclear and no where was the shock hazard explained. I understand from other videos that some owners are still getting shocked after properly installing the static cable. If I get shocked after I assemble this cable I’m simply going to return the blower. No wonder the user manual suggests wearing rubber gloves! Other blower manufacturers do not have this problem.
I was asked to determine why a blower like this one wouldn't start . I found quickly it had no spark and that the magneto was bad. The ground wire was just hanging down not connected. Ten years ago when I worked in the mower shop at a school district, there was grounding wire added to some Echo blowers to keep the magneto from failing,no issue with shocking the operator. I am glad you put out this video so I now know what to do with that ground wire. Thanks and good luck in your landscape business. Yes Echo is very good equipment and easier to repair than other commercial brands.
Thanks for that information Mr Evans because i took mines off. Now i know it needs to be reconnected. Nice video! Hope you have a very prosperous 2017 lawn season.
Thanks Mr. Evans! I just purchased the same blower and did not know what to do with the wire. It makes sense now. Also I've seen you around town/Columbia. Good luck with your business!
Thank you very much! Sincerely appreciate the help. Putting my new PB-580T together now. Knew it was a ground wire but had no idea what to do with it, thanks. Best Wishes.
Yes you are correct about the instructions talking about the anti stain cable after they tell you how to assemble the pipe but the instructions should have been read all the way through befor assembling or starting as stated in instruction manual! Once again owner error not Echo's error!
Yeah i saw that in mine I though it was throttle cable then noticed it did t move nor was connected to throttle. I filled it to the base of motor and saw the ground connection and noticed it was going through the tube. I figured it had to be an anti static shock cable...pretty simple. Yeah there’s no way I would remove mine just to see if it Is get shocked..lol. Now if I can figure out why my damned 580T won’t start I’ll be happy.
Thank you very much for your video. I just bought it, cut it thinking it was so people would not steal it when it was on display 😂 I put it back together and and will see if I turn into Shazam tomorrow or I fix it and installed it properly.
I have a PB500T, not a professional and I use it a few days a year for driveway and yard. At year no 3, the blower bogs at full throttle and dies. I followed all the internet fixes but none works. I ended up putting a new carb on and now its running fine
millions of lawn care professionals....you are the only 1 who has ever mentioned the grounding wire,,, amazing work Sir
Thank you! First person smart enough to talk about shock wire

My instruction manual said what it was and where to route it. Was this not in your manual?

Thank you very much Roland, very helpful. I've been using these for over 10 years, never seen this.
Thanks Roland! That was a big help. Glad to see a common sense instruction.
My dad got one of them amd it is very good for a beginner I use it a lot for leaves we live on a golf course and there is a lot of trees
Thanks for the information. I was about to take mine off after an hour of going back and forth between the blower and the manual.
nice looking trailer!!! Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Very good Sir👍
Thank you...
Thanks for the information. I was wondering what the heck it was for.
Great video.. I just put mine together tonight. I put it exactly like you did from the instructions given
In the Echo instruction manual it clearly states that it is a static wire. In my instructions anyway.
John Lanc yes, but they don’t tell you about routing the wire until after they tell you to assemble the tube. Wonky instructions at best.

Good info thanks!
