I've known Steve almost 50 years and was almost on this record for backup vocals. The b-side is "Misty Morning" and is quite good as well. Steve and I have done a lot of music since then, none of which that ever saw airplay. Sadly, Steve passed away on 3/6 of this year at the age of 70. He was still doing music.

Heard it alot on WBOS in 1976-77. Great song, love it and the first time I have heard it since the late 1970s, thanks!

This is one of my all time favorite songs... I've been chasing down the artist for years, and tonight on my 58th birthday I finally have it... thank you!

I remember this one as well when it was played on WJB-105 in Providence . It made the Top 50 (# 50 and #49) and ten disappeared . I do think Steve Wightman was from New England . Great song and it shows that anything can be found on You Tube:)

Yes! played on JB105 in Providence, and I've never heard it since, until now.

    THANK YOU MASSEYB0!!!
I was a young AM radio DJ in my second year at KLLA in Louisiana. (back when you had to get a special license from the FCC to be able to operate a transmitter. Good days) I was 15 yoa in the spring of 1976, that Bicentennial Year. I remember this song quite well, I liked it, (and even remembered that bright yellow Farr label above) and have it somewhere in my own massive 45 collection that spans from the 60's to early 2000's. I always mean to 'someday' haul out all those 45's and digitize as many as possible but you know how it is. I've checked for time to time on YT for it but felt it was just a lost song only one young wierd DJ in the south liked and finally, here it is!!
    Thank you sir!!

Don't know if it's what you're looking for but I upped Peter Chris & the Outcasts - The Right Girl for Me. That's the only UK band called The Outcasts that I'm aware of: Just click on my user name "masseyb0" & you should see it listed.

I remember this song quite well. I have it my collection only on the Rocky Coast label. I purchased it from a collector in France around 10 years ago. I played it all the time when I was a radio dj in northern New England.

Hey, Nick. I'm a big fan of Steve Wightman's song, and enjoy the dramatic minor-key vibe it exudes. Since you know him, I was just curious about the origin of the record and artist. Is he a Massachusetts native? What inspired him to write it? I'm a '70s and '80s music collector/writer/DJ so any info you can pass along would be most appreciated. Thanks, Chris
