Thank you very much for opening up. I love your authenticity and honesty. A good counselor is worth their weight in gold. I began suffering from depression and anxiety after I lost my job as a college history instructor when the pandemic started. I struggled through the pandemic feeling hopeless. With my wife and friends support I decided to focus on finishing up my counseling in mental health license. I am older than most collectors and I have never really stopped collecting toys. My main focus right now is the Classified line. I enjoy your videos. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your nice comments! I can see how your mental health suffered during that time of the pandemic. I'm really sorry that happened to you but It sounds like you have an amazing wife that stood by you and helped you get through it. And that is a great accomplishment to get your mental health license. So does that mean you're a counselor now? I think that's awesome that you still collect toys. This Classified line we collect is great. I'm so happy that Gijoe is still in our lives! Cheers man! 🍻
@@destrosdesk I am in a four year program. I already have two years under my belt. I took a few classes when I was working on my masters degree in history. The spring term I start my clinicals. I still have about two years left. Then I will be a licensed counselor. I love joes. I was ten years old when they hit the shelves. I collected the Hall of Fame line, Sigma Six, and the 25th Anniversary and now Classified. So much more detail un the six inch line. Keep making great videos!
That's really great that you only 2 years away from your new career. It will all be worth it once you are done! I had lots of Joe's and vehicles in the 80s. I wish I still had everything today but I've only got a little bit. Classified got me back into collecting and I'm just in love with all things Gijoe. I've also started picking up 25th anniversary figures whenever I see them. Cheers and Happy New Year!
Mate I started doing my Channel for my own mental health too. like yourself the channel has helped me. But what I wasn’t prepared for is that I have helped others out which is an amazing thing in it self. Anyway mate take care and enjoy what you are doing bro.
Thank you so much for checking out the video. I really appreciate your comments. That's so awesome that your channel has helped others. That must be a very rewarding feeling. Very cool dude!
as my coach, often tell other trainees, if a blind guy can do it, anyone can do it. All the wild pointing at me, of course. ROFL. You are doing a lot better than me though, I've been making video for about four years? And barely getting 300 subscribers. On a positive note, I am really really glad that it's been able to help you, and you definitely helped me as well because you are now my go to guy for G.I. Joe related videos. So thank you, happy new year.
Hey dude! I really appreciate your comments. And I'm very happy to be your Joe guy! Thank you so much for being part of my channel! It's comments like yours that keeps me going. Cheers dude 🍻
Hiya! Just recently got into GI Joe via the Skybound comics, and recently came across your videos. Its cool to see the different figures, as someone who has been on the Transformers side of collecting. I usually videos while drawing, and I appreciate that you give off a..."real personality". As, in the past Ive been turned off from toy reviewers, as those that I came across usually had its host basically be a Character (usually loud n snarky, throwing packages, etc) that they play. My interest in GI figures (as, Im not in the budget to start collecting those too, ahah) is thus mostly directed to watching UA-camrs as yourself. Its nice to see people who just...are people if that makes sense. And I totally get what you mean about mental health and just being nonchalant about interest in toy collecting and cartoons--although, perhaps a little different, as I am like, half your age and wasnt around for the old cartoons and have no nostalgia, ahah. Like yea, I like toys and collecting that, from cartoons made to sell those toys. Yeaa their tactics worked on me because I like those toys, lol. Could have worse interests! And for sure, Hasbro has its issues (esp on the Transformers side of things with quality control), but they still put the effort to do reissues and tweaks and designs each time. Anyway, Cheers, hope your 2024 is going well!
Hey! Thank you so much for checking out my channel and my videos! I really appreciate your kind comments. Ya I've seen how other toy channels and reviewers can be a bit much. All I want to do is be myself. I'm not going to do things or say things that would jeopardize my reputation. Just want to be myself and speak like I would in my personal life. Sometimes I think being myself is boring in my videos but I've had positive feedback like your comments that keeps me pointed in the right direction. So thank you for taking the time to say you like what I do and how I am. It's a great feeling. That is great that you have taken an interest in GiJoe from the skybound comics. I too am reading those comics and I think they're great. I'm also collecting the original marvel GiJoe comics because I really want to experience the original story. If you have the tubi app you can check out the original cartoon series or or Hasbro's UA-cam channel. I am a huge fan of Transformers! I have a few of the figures from the 80's but I collected most of the War for Cybertron line and the studio 86 figures. I understand the frustration with Hasbro's quality. The GiJoe Classified figures have some issues too. My channel was supposed to be all things action figures but due to time and affordability I've mainly stuck to GiJoe. Thanks again for checking out my channel! Feel free to comment, I love communicating with anyone that comments. Take care and enjoy your day!!
Good job this year man. I've caught a couple of your videos myself and found them pretty good. Hope you keep at it. As for collecting all the lines I get exactly what you mean. As I've said on my channel over and over. $20 spent here is $20 you can't spend there.
Hey Bill! Thank you so much for checking out my videos! Yes it is an expensive hobby isn't it! I really appreciate your kind comments. I will have to check out your channel as well. Cheers man 🍻
hi I recently found your channel and I like it I to been suffering with anxiety for the past 20+years and in the process of being evaluated for depression. Gijoe has always been my favorite toy line since child hood and been trying to collect them again gives me something else to focus on that and video games even if my husband don't understand it my hobbies kind of personal I know just wondering are you married or have a girlfriend if so what do they think about your hobbies don't have to answer if to personal keep up the great work
Hey!! Thank you for checking out my channel, I really appreciate that! Well it's very nice to meet you. Reading your comments gave me goose bumps. And I instantly related exactly to what you said and your question. I was married to my wife in 2006 and my life was quite different. I didn't have any toys ( I had a lot of toys, mainly gijoe and he-man in my childhood) I didn't even watch UA-cam. I played some video games when I could fit it in. We divorced in 2015 as she cheated on me and I found out. So January 2016 I moved into an apartment and everything changed. This is where the anxiety and depression started. I was struggling. I had also had a daughter with my ex and now had to experience only seeing my daughter half time and that killed me. So as time went on and lots of trips to the doctor and trying out many different drugs prescribed to me but nothing was getting better. Time went on and I got a girlfriend who really tried to help me. But even she was getting frustrated because she felt I wasn't getting any better. More time went on and we stayed together and eventually bought a house to get me out of the apartment. Buying the house helped a bit by the new scenery and the start of a new life. Then one day somehow a ad for a toy show near me popped up on my Facebook News feed and it got me interested and excited. So my girlfriend and I went to the toy show. What an experience! All those toys, new, old, vintage, it had it all. I was like, I had that toy, I had that, I had that, I wanted that Christmas of '86, just memories and memories of a simpler time. So I started going to shopping. Masters of the universe origin figures were coming out, GiJoe Classified started coming out, Transformers War on Cybertron started coming out and I was all in. So I started collecting, and collecting and I was hooked. It did start helping me with the depression because I had something new in my life that I love. It didn't fix my anxiety and depression but it gave me a boost. My girlfriend has been very supportive during all of this and she supports my interests. Something me ex would not have done if toys came into my life when I was married. Yes she gets frustrated with me if I over spend or put toys before other more important things but that is to be expected. Do not go into debt to collect toys! We go to lots of toy shows and endless trips to Walmart, GameStop and toysrus to get the latest figure. She even started collecting New Kids On the Block memorabilia. Your partner doesn't exactly have to like what you like but it is very important they support you for what you like. It's your choice what you like and as long as you aren't harming yourself or putting yourself in debt then you do what you like. A person that says they love you should love all of you including your hobbies and interests. As for more about the anxiety and depression, I've been researching a lot about this and I'm finding that what we eat and put into our bodies is affecting our mental health. I've just started doing the carnivore diet and have stopped eating processed food. This is the new approach to ending anxiety and depression. We will talk more. Cheers dude 🍻
