- Time magazine has changed its track on PM-elect Narendra Modi. A recent article on Time's website says "Modi United India". But despite the decisive mandate, some critics are trying to deny legitimacy to Modi's victory. Palki Sharma Upadhyay has the story.

Yes, also for those who say that only 37% voted for BJP so 63% voted against it, that's too vague assumption. Not all of the 63% are against Modi, there are parties like BJD, YSRC, TRS etc who are neutral, also independent candidates get a lot of votes too. Moreover, Modi won more than 50% votes in 13 states... Btw, going by their argument, 80% of Indians voted against Congress, 90% voted against mahagathbandhan, more than 95% voted against TMC etc.. now who should be in government?

I am diasporic Hindu and Indian. I have, a superficial sense of India being maybe 5th generation Indian from the Caribbean but Hinduism still runs through my veins. I believe Mr. Narindra Modi is the best PM to have held the reins of Government in its post British existence. To me the quality that puts him uniquely above all the rest is his humility and honesty. He can take India places.

@Anvith Shetty What about the economy and the Youth unemployment Rate during modi ji's regime, he completely failed to handle indian economy. Economy was worst hit even before the pandemic due to failed ecomomic policies of the government.

The Economist *Amartya Sen* was appointed as chairman of Nalanda Mentor Group in 2007 & made first Chancellor of famous *Nalanda University*(NU) in Bihar by Congress govt in 2012.
He enjoyed a salary of *Rs 5 Lakh* per month, tax-free benefits, unaccounted foreign travels, meeting in luxury hotels, power to direct appointments, etc.
Nine years during Manmohan Singh's tenure, Amartya Sen ran Nalanda University while mostly staying abroad. He appointed seven faculties. Made Nalanda University a 5-star hotel.
Total expenditure was stagerring *Rs 2729 crores*
Four female faculties, Dr Gopa Sabharwal, Dr Anjana Sharma, Nayanjot Lahiri and Upinder Singh from Delhi University were made faculties.
*Upinder Singh is the eldest daughter of Manmohan Singh*, while the remaining three were Upinder's close friends. Two more faculties were appointed, honorary, Daman Singh & Amrit Singh. *Middle & youngest daughters of Manmohan Singh.* They stayed in USA while drawing salary!
All these happened with the collaboration of *Amartya Sen* & Congress high command.
After 2014, when Modi arrived, all these fraud were stopped and Amartya Sen was thrown out of Nalanda University. Since that day Amartya Sen began his trenchant criticism of Modi's economic agenda. However, at the world level, he failed to impress any other economist against Modi.

Amartya Sen should be tried in court for mismanaging the university and misuse of funds. There are thousands of teachers just making ends meet, dedicating their lives for educating others. Its a slap in their faces to be shown examples like Sen, a so called nobel laureate, drawing public money as salary while living abroad, and abusing his position to return political favours to help Manmohan Singh's family.

As to Mr Amartya Sen, all respect to him and his achievements but being a humble and simple guy myself, my assessment of him is someone who's filled only with numbers and statistics. He has no humanity in him; humility, maybe, but it does not come over in his normal discourse. He should speak to himself only.
India has democratically chosen the party that had the most appealing election campaign in an emphatic fashion. Denying the legitimacy of the results is not a constructive path for academicians and opposition. Learn the lessons from this mandate and come back in a more professional manner.
