I had this right out of the box. I backed the prop screws out just a quarter of a turn and the props started spinning freely like the other three motors. Worth a try.
I believe this is 100% a manufacturing issue. My DJI Mini SE has one slightly stiff motor - it spins freely and so far doesn't affect its ability to fly, but it has more resistance to turning by hand than the rest. But it's not just DJI - I've had brushless motors on other stuff that displays the same thing. My theory is it's a flaw with the actual bearings - unlike past quadcopters I've owned where I was able to replace the motor very easily and for cheap, however these 'delicate beauties' are seemingly trickier.
I just saw another video with a "solution" and came here to say that worked for me. I use a Dry Lube in the motor and after 2 minutes spinning manually the motor was spinning really smoothly and the drone flow without any problems.
It's a lot of people with the same problem, it can only be a chronic problem of the model, as well as fogging up the camera lens, mine has this same resistance in the front left engine and in the rear right, I found out because I turned on the engines and it turned off and it gave the engine stuck message, I put a well of lubricant, it improved but it didn't solve it, another thing that was happening and I relate to this problem is that it turned slowly to one side without me giving a command.
This is on mine- your issue may be different.....Mine does this as well. I believe once the motor is freely spinning it shifts inside the housing enough to not be an issue. I have flown mine almost 10 flights since it first occurred. It is Not debri inside. If you turn drone upside down and pull on motor cap while spinning it will free up . I was apprehensive the first time it happened and did short hovers, then short flights. Eventually i went over a mile away and all was well. I believe when they press fit the motor into housing it is incorrectly pressed.
Back again with mini 4 pro having same issue, but not that locked up, it’s a little harder to spin the front left motor, and straight out of the box, dji should really do inspections on their mini lineup motors
This just happened to mine after not using it for a year or so. Remove the blades, pull the 3 screws to loosen the motor slightly from the arm, remove the arm backing (it's only styrofoam), put few drops of singer oil into motor through the gap between arm and motor, turn the motor with your fingers for about 5-10 minutes, it'll loosen up, once loose, use compressed air and carefully blow out excess oil from inside out, reassemble, good as new.
When you manually spin the blades, the magnet attracts the windings and you can feel it kinda "click" into place, as if there are grooves, but with the one that is stiff, it doesn't feel this way. After spraying it with contact cleaner, it now works but it doesn't have that clicking feel like the other 3 motors. Have you noticed that?
Me too, rear right motor. It has way more friction than the other three. Contacted DJI Store and the want to do some service on it. It should be covered by the warranty, since it is less than a year since purchase.
Happened to me too. However, after some turning by hand a few times it loosened up enough to launch, but I've lost faith in it's safety now and haven't flown it since.. ☹️
Just happened to me as well, which led me to this video. Just received mine new a few days ago and flew it one time (2 takeoff/landings), now I'm getting this error. Sometimes it seems to work, other times it doesn't, but regardless I'm not comfortable flying it like this as I've read of others crashing because the motor failed in the air. Pretty disappointing for a brand new drone. Still have my Mavic Pro 1 and have never had issues with that drone (knock on wood).
It happened to me this weekend as well. I was at an amazing location with ideal lighting conditions, but unable to take off because of this stupid issue. Asked DJI on their chat support, they wanted to know the error code, so I quickly powered on the drone and tried to take off, and of course it worked without issues. Now the motor isn't that stiff as it was when it was complaining about it, but I lost confidence, so I'll send it back.

Most likely there is some dust that went in. I removed propellers and used vaccum cleaner for almost 15 -20 mins. The motor was quite free after that still not the same as other 3. Then i just hover drone for 10mins at single place. After landing i again check the motor and boom it was perfectly normal. Note: do not add any lube in motors. Keep the drones in clean environment, nothing will happen to it.
