If you guys haven't figured it out yet, this guy puts shocking titles on his videos and he is rarely a hater about the people in his video.
thats called clickbait, and isn't well liked here on this platform. It makes you look like an actual clown and after watching this i have confirmed that. nothing in this video couldnt have been learned off google or Wikipedia. the title is just an actual lie and only for clicks. more actual insipid trash we have to sift through
You’re talking about it, aren’t you?
this just occurred to me since Brody is Australian lol
Crazy, I can't believe you figured out how the youtube algorithm works.
Turd
Who the hell decided she was the most hated?? I grew up loving brody!!
This! I liked her chaotic vibe from jump.
She's been through a lot of bs that wasn't even her fault, so she gets ALL the passes ova here.😅🎉
@@janepaige928 She’s also created a lot of bullshit that’s totally her fault.
@@bd2073 DON'T CARE..still like her!🤌🎉
Rancid fans hated her! And that’s a lot of people
And she used Tim to get famous then cheated on him
I don't consider her a sellout, and I sympathize with her identity issues. I'm close to anfew people with BPD, and she seems like someone who might have it. Trauma is a common ther with it.
She was taken advantage of by a big name in the scene, chewed up, and spit out. As a guy into punk culture, I always love the underdog and she was kind of that.
Struggling with identity is a common cause of BPD?
@@shellum not a cause, it is a symptom.
She was taken advantage of?
@@kevmac1230yes, twice, as far as I remember
@@thisaintnowownow would those two instances be her marriages to established rock stars? Ulterior motives sometimes have consequences other than desired.
Brody was literally who i wanted to be when i grew up. I met her and Keanu reeves at a pixies concert at the Greek theatre and she was so cool. Literally she put up with 14 year old me and took a bunch of pics with me lol
Dude wtf that’s rad!
Love her
Why does it necessarily have to be an "act"? Isn't there a possibility that she was completely influenced by what was around her and exploring her punk sensibilities -- which are vast and deep -- or does it HAVE to be that "she's fake, but did a good job being fake." What if, what IF, she is actually a genuine musician, more so than anyone dares admit? Could it have been Brody doing whatever it takes to put herself in the right places at the right times to have the right opportunities to advance herself, just like any other musician out there? Or is it just -- "she's trash, she's a hanger-on, she's blahblahblah", no matter what she does?
she started out playing punk in australia before she moved to the US. her biggest punk influence was probably the women around her like Casper. And they had a guy from the nerve agents drumming. They were a pure punk band. There was nothing fake about any of them. Unfortunately she got groomed by that pervert from Rancid who had a negative influence on her sound but they were all so talented they rose above that. Coral Fang shows her purge Tim from the bands sound completely. Then she gets with Josh Homme who is just the biggest pos sell out who would sue everyone he ever knew at the drop of a dime. At worst she has bad taste in men. Can we talk about how Tim tainted people against the Distillers and how hes still obsessed with her to this day and started producing for a girl who sounds just like Brody.
This is what I hate about punk culture. This idea that such or such is not a “real” punk or shit like that…always seemed childish and high school bully to me
@@A2Z83 .... or she is what she tries to portray, ie a "femme fatale". Women like that use their charms to manipulate men and advance their own careers. It's not a coincidence IMO if she got involved with 2 super famous/influential guys...You'll never see her "falling in love" with the bass player or drummer. Always the most powerful figure in the scene. I hate to break it to ya but women can be toxic too. You might be right, I might be wrong, or the opposite but we'll never know!
it’s not genuine which is why it’s and “act”
@croulantroulant3082 @croulantroulant3082 Intelligent, strong women typically want a partner on their level. She's the lead female singer in a punk band so what's wrong with wanting someone similar in that aspect? She "got involved" with 2 "super famous influential" guys? How about one of them was in his freaking 30s, a grown ass adult , who was the one who got her involved when she was underage? He fucking groomed her but that gets overlooked just because its someone you like? Stupid. Why does he get a pass and yet she's vilified? And you happen to know poor Josh Homme was used and taken advantage of so she could further her career? Yeah, she played the long con dude, manipulating him for over a decade and even into having children with her. No, it couldn't possibly be something like genuine love? Please. she didn't need him, she was doing fine before he came along because she's actually talented in her own right. She can play her instrument all on her own. And guess what, she actually writes her own music too! Your opinion is biased and frankly, stupid. Why is it that it must be that she's toxic? You sound like a woman-hating, bitter, incel and only capable of seeing strong, intelligent, talented, beautiful women in the madonna/whore complex? In reality, a woman as bad ass as her, would
totally punk you
I can sympathize with her, but I can admit she's a terrible person.
Why?
“Gurglin’ and mumblin’ her way around lyrics” 😂
I really wasn't paying attention to the drama back then, I found out about the divorce basically from the album's lyrics and then later read an interview promoting it to confirm. And I wasn't a distillers fan, so didn't know what they were up to. I remember hearinga bout how young she was when they met and thought it was kinda creepy, but different times.
I saw the distillers open for social distortion right as they were getting on the give ‘em the boot comps. They were pretty good at that time. 🌭🌭🌭🥞🥞🥞
I freaking LOVE her
After listening to this I like her more than I did before🤣
The ones around her that stirred up hate where degenerate predators🤣
I thought it was Amber Heard... she's lost this too? things change too fast for me these days.
the relationship and personalities aside, Coral Fang is an excellent album.
Oh no wait she didn't.. It was a hoax! She looks good now though, wow what a transformation!!
If you think she was fake, then I challenge you to do a vocal cover of any song of coral fang. That album is heavy af
Apparently, she's going to put new music out...Will see if it sells...
Dude. They broke up because Mr Rancid was an abuser. Get over it. Brode rocks forever.
the distiller early days man i remember when i was a young pup i actually didnt mind them
Yeah don’t kick fans in the head. sheeeeeeah
I mean I definitely liked the distillers because I liked rancid and the clash. I thought the distillers were cool but they weren’t as cool as Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
Spinnerette were excellent by the way
Spinnerette was the best!
Actual money for music what a scam!😅
Dan Frampton is basically one of those Vegan punk rockers with the studded vests with anarchy logos while he rides his fixie to a Bernie sanders rally hahaha
Nailed it
I thought Coral Fang was an amazing album, and Brody Dalle was very much her own person.
I'm old, so at the beginning I thought, "What does 'essaying' someone mean? Making them write essays? Making them dress like early 90s hispanic gangsters?" and then, "...OOOOHHHHH."
I apologize for being old and watching your channel. I'm just trying to do my best.
She's a true punk rocker despite what these gate keeping people think... the fact she was hated so much at the time makes her even more of a badass lol
Tim is such a sweet man. I knew him back in the early days and he was such a great friend
8:29 what ever happened to her?
She was from Melbourne (I am too) and it was mentioned in one of her songs. I had a huge crush on her when I was younger cus I like punk girls or girls who don't fit the normal standard of "beauty". Suicide girls is more my thing.
Other than that I don't know much about her honestly. I think she lives in America these days?
"This record is pretty good even to todays standards" ...fuck todays standards lol
As a punk rock kid who was in his freshman year of high school in 03, I was very much a Brody fan. In fact, at the time, I would have said I was in love with her. Lol. I saw the distillers a few years ago actually in Philly. It was great. The only thing I remember not liking from back then was thinking that it was lame that she was still going by Brody Armstrong after they split up. Like she was still using his name to her benefit despite the split. That was the perception anyway. Honestly, I may have just been misinformed about that tho. I got my information in a much more word of mouth manner back then. She’s been going by Brody Dalle for a long time now….and really, I just don’t give a shit about that type of thing anymore. That’s the only negative thing I can remember thinking about her tho and it def didn’t stop me from liking her music and wanting to make out with her. I think I was also probably unaware, at the time, that she was so young when her and Tim got together. But yea. Idk. Whatever. I’ve always liked her and still do.
She sure was 7:16
Mmm.. loved Brody’s music then, still some songs are killer and thanks to Tim Armstrong, she has found some recognition in music. She was young but way ahead of her years mentally when she met Tim and he fell hard for her. She wanted to advance her career and of course he helped her until she saw opportunity elsewhere, Josh Homme. There’s trouble there from what I found out but in the long run, she tried to advance herself any way possible, is she a sellout, no idea. She had a very good voice for that kind of music, still play The Distillers from time to time. Really good songs at that time, makes me even nostalgic when I hear them but that’s life… my take at least.
This video has 38,000 views. And that’s about how many people in America even know of Brody. So how is she “most hated”?
Why are punks allergic to making lots of money?
‘Money is evil maaaaaannnn!’
hahah they aren't. Just can't sing about living on stolen ramen any more
Tim is a jelly belly
Is that a term for pedo? Cause if it is he is a jelly bean for sure
ruby ruby ruby ruby chomo
No one but 15yo rancid "hated" her and Andy Outbreak is dat from o tough dude😂
i heard that QOTSA dude beat her bad and kidnapped their kids
I lover , she rocks
in the stupid world ...punkrock bands are only allowed to have one album...she kicks ass
say her name right
I luv her
Good story telling. I kinda like the Distillers music but.
Americans: who?
❤❤❤
Dude Brody f**king rocks!
I'm much more worried about the fact that Armstrong groomed a 16 year old who had a history of sexual abuse, than I am that someone experimented with different musical genres.
I kind of can't believe the pop "punk" community has let it go for so long.
Agree. She wasn't remotely mature for her age, she was definitely a regular 16 year old in terms of maturity, sophistication of intelligence and life experience. For a man in his late 20s or early 30s (I can't remember how old exactly Tim was when they met, I only know everyone in the music scene in Australia winced to hear of their getting together due to the creepy age gap)-- but for a man of that age to get together with a school kid is gross. She was underage when they met and first hooked up in Melbourne, I can tell you that much.
she admitted to lying about her age to be with him
@@bd2073 Everybody on that tour knew how old she was. He only had to ask the promoter. He was aware she couldn't play certain venues due to her age. It's all lies. He believed whatever was convenient to believe. Ick.
I was looking for this comment. He's known for this.
I can if the last 10 years have taught me anything it is that the "punk rock" community is just as hypocritical as anyone else.
She’s far from the most hated. Most people don’t know who she is.
exactly
Dude, nobody knew who she, Kathleen Hannah, the girl from Sleeter Kinney, etc were EVEN WHEN THEY WERE AROUND. Cult bands at best: girls I dated knew it, hipsters knew it. People have this revisionist history as if this stuff was on MTV 24/7....no one cared then. This era was dominated by Britney, Eminem and Xtina...not these obscure riot grrrrl people. They keep "pumping this stuff up" on UA-cam like these bands were Kiss back in the day....
I think he meant most hated in early 2000s punk scene
Honestly wish her nothing but the best. She clearly had a hard life and I’m not sure punk rock did its best to make it better. All in all, that song “baby, you make my heart beat faster” is a jam
Coral Fang is by far their best album. I got it for Christmas when I was 15 with the OG cover, and I still rock it to this day. What a weird take on this. I was in highschool for all of this. Maybe I'm just crusty but could not disagree more.
this guy never has good takes. hes a cartoon of an insufferable hipster.
I loved coral fang. I totally agree.
It's different than the others and great in It's own way.
“If there was a modern version of the bible and I was the guy getting crucified Dismantle Me would be the soundtrack to that part.”
-Kanye West
Dude idgaf hall of mirrors is one of my fave songs.. it stays on repeat some days. 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
She’s absolutely amazing, no one hates her!!!
Spinnerette is awesome
Dudes in rock do the exact same thing, out of teenage trauma. Why are you focused on this chick?
in the words of kurt: “you’re in high school again”
My cover of coral fang from back in the day was the original cover. Never seen the other one. Brody is talented and doesn't really get the credit she deserves musically. Her live performances are ridiculously good. There are three sides of every story. She is not the most hated woman in America. That's click bait man.
Wait you were the artist of the woman being crucified?!
Sell out or not, Coral Fang is an incredible album and her solo stuff on Diploid Love was quite excellent.
What nobody hates her everyone who has ever laid eyes on her wanted to be like her and was pulled all the way.
I don’t even care about any drama, she did, he did, she was, they were this and that…she’s got an amazing voice + good musician+amazing performer. At the end of the day that’s all what matter…the rest is just..drama
@qotsaHooPdancer It really takes a lot of nerve to compliment R. Kelly at the same time you call Brody Dalle a pill popper. Seriously. You're gonna compliment R. Kelly, who is going to spend the rest of his life in prison for trafficking, at the exact same time you call Brody Dalle (who has an incredible voice and songwriting skills) a pill popper? Okay.
lmao, you’re joking right? Someone struggling with drug use is no where near the same as someone who was charged with sex trafficking, and sexually abused minors. Not even close!
Struggling with addiction doesn't = bad💀. being addicted to drugs doesn't make you inherently bad, very black and white thinking.
By ur comment it makes it very clear how morally superior u think u are compared to ppl struggling with addiction, they are living ppl with full lives and interests just like u and me, you are no better nor worse than them
And to conflate addiction to literal sex trafficking and sexual abuse is absolutely insane and probs the dumbest thing I've ever read lmao💀
Maybe get more sympathy for others instead of keeping it all for yourself
i think she's stated that she had an issue with meth for a while - never heard anything about being a pill popper but whatever who cares
You're a fucking weirdo to compare these totally non comparable things.
Disagree I never hated her I just thought she got better and better
Hi! Were you influenced to make this video after reading "Sellout" by Dan Ozzi? Because you pretty much just paraphrased the entire chapter he wrote about the Distillers 🤔
Yeah I thought so too...
"Most HATED Woman in America" - that's a bit exaggerated, don't you think? Personally i think she's one of the best female vocalists out there and from the interviews i've seen she seemed cool. Don't hate Brody, hate Billie Eilish :D
Brody is my favorite singer of all time, and I'm not a fan of Billie Eilish's music, but Billie is extremely talented. She is a fantastic singer and composer. I wouldn't hate her.
@@kendallmonge649 To each their own i guess. I don't see Billie Eilish as extremely talented - i think she's an annoying c*nt
Not a big Brody fan.... but I'll take listening to her terrible new Pop stuff over anything Billie Eilish does - anyday.
I Love Brody, never hated her and I loved her spinnerette album. Different but had some good songs! Diploid Love is good too!! People gotta do what they gotta do for themselves. Plus Tim Armstrong was too old for her, sorry.
It’s crazy he called her band a “ghost band” if that’s true he groomed her and made her that way, and he hates to see that reflection of himself
I remember reading under the lyrics that that band was abut every song you hear was about what you were going though.
Brody rocks
Explains why Propagandhi calls out not jut Fat Mike and Lars Frederickson in "Rock For Sustainable Capitalism" when he snarls "fuckin' goof", goof in Canada is slang for pedo/someone going out with somebody way too younger than themselves (not respecting the +7 /2 thing). I guess there was a little part in that first verse left for Tim roflmao.
So the most hated girl in America, is someone who I've never even heard of?
😂😂😂
It's clickbait she actually rocks dude!
"Brody Dalle is the most hated!" Courtney Love tells her: Don't worry dear, it's a phase, danramt willl find something else to be wrong about soon :)
Seriously man, wtf.
Ehh, trolls gonna troll
also, yep, I didn't spell your name right, sue me.
Hey mate! Brody Dalle is NOT hated woman in North America, Courtney Love IS the most. At least Brody just get divorced with ex partners but not planned kill theirselves. I’m NOT agree with you. Love U Brody Dalle!! ❤
Thank you!
Personally, I like Brody! She was barely 16 when she got with Tim and he was 30. Im sure she was highly influenced by lots of things. If there's someone that I hate - it's Tim, for being a pedo. 😒
(And everyone else just sweeping it under the rug because he's famous 🤷🏻♀️)
You sound jealous
@@lukewarm924 Jealous of Tim? 😂 Lol how?
Ooooo hmmmm…. I’m gunna say sell out? I think… errrr I donno! Let this play out it was so weird
I just can't hate Brody. Sorry haha I love her. Kisses from Asunción, Paraguay 🇵🇾
This is clickbait bullshit. She is awesome
It was literally the name of her tour. It was a term she accepted and marketed herself using. Settle down, big rig.
5:37 Jeez didn't realise there was a 15 year age gap. I do know Brody then got with Josh Homme haha
Spinerette was actually a pretty good project.
5:52 Yeah, that’s EXACTLY how their breakup went down. This is the first time that genius YT algorithm recommended me this guy’s channel and ugh. I mean I’m only 6 min in & there are already enough inaccuracies, that if I was a teacher grading this with a red pen, pretty sure I would’ve already run out of ink. Por ejemplo, his first claim is false. Brody was NOT “less than 16 years old” when she met Tim. Her birthday is New Year’s Day ‘79, Tim’s is 11/25/65. The Summersault tour was 12/29/95-1/7/96, & the two dates Sourpuss played were in Sydney on 12/31/95 & 1/1/96 (Dalle’s birthday).
Soooo (wait for it)…. MATH TO THE RESCUE! And it says (in its sexy, deep voice) that means she was 16 when the Summersault tour began, still 16 when Sourpuss played their 1st show & 17 when she played their 2nd. Needless to say, when your first claim is patently & provably false, and done so relatively easily, everything else that comes afterwards should probably be assumed to be the same unless citations are provided.
*Looks for citations*
Yeah, Nah.
go read sell out by Dan Ozzy if u want the main resource my dogg. You sound like a stan huffing copium here and it's really quite embarrassing
People use sellout wrong most of the time.
Selling out is when you don't really give a sh!t about the material you put out, you just do it to make a buck.
Most of the time a sellout artist hates these songs they produced.
Selling out has nothing to do with popularity.. a musician will always improve over time and will want to venture into new territory because playing the same ten songs every night for three months becomes mundane.
Some musicians want to challenge themselves and experiment. Sometimes it works and sometimes not.
9:13 whoa sounds like an aggressive album cover
she’s hot topic punk rock ..no hate but just corporate music
Omg summersault!!
I remember my friends showing me the distillers and not realizing it was a girl singer that was rad
Might be different in Canada but I bought the original cover of Coral Fang a little while ago I have never seen that giraffe cover
I love Brody dalle for ever and ever❤
Dude youve started the straw clutching a little early in your youtube video career... shes fine bro- noones perfect. I bet your lufe that some if your friends know some cancel culture bs about you too...
Nice sentences, Einstein.
My ex girlfriend used to listen to those Spinnerette albums. My god were they awful.
This channel has turned into a punk version of drama alert
thats a perfect comparison. well done.
Everyone should block this click bait nonesense.
I was never a fan of The Distillers. Never worried about if they were sell outs or what label they were on. Was always like, "hey this sucks" and moved on.
😂
I don't remember her being the most hated, though honestly the most annoying thing about the punk scene for me was how everyone was so quick to cry sellout because they didn't like something the band did. A band removed a record from one label and gave it to another because they weren't being paid their cut? sellout!
That said I loved her voice, and still do. Coral Fang took me a bit to warm up to, but after a few listens I really enjoyed the album. The Spinnerette album... Valium Knights was a good song, but I honestly couldn't remember any of the others. So yeah, disappointed there.
As for her and Tim? Honestly I don't care that much until he threw a tantrum after the breakup, along with the jealousy of her success. I never really gave a crap about celebrity relationships other than a passing curiosity, (Did xxx ever get married or have kids? etc. Just a quick trip to wikipedia or google, then I move on)
What? People really love digging out drama and having the weirdest takes on it. Brody Dalle was the shit and so was coral fang (and sing sing and their lp). To say a band sounding like something else is cringe when it comes to punk is goofy too. I barely made it halfway through honestly, the irrelevant pettiness of the whole situation... Also I’m tired of the whole “women can only find their talent by biting off of the men around them” narrative people attach to literally all women in music. It’s all so exhausting.
why is Brody hated?
Darker, my love was by Jack Grisham ( tsol ) was in suburbia.
I fucking love Brody!
Around that time I was a crust punk who thought any band that released their media on anything other than vinyl was a sellout. But I remember hearing City of Angels for the first time on the radio while I was squatting in LA and became enchanted. I loved The Distillers ever since.
I can never forget the one, and only, time I saw The Distillers at Knitting Factory in NY. My GOD you thought she slurred/mumbled her lyrics normally..my God she was SO doped up I'm surprised she even finished the set, I never knew LA Girl could sound even less intelligible! They finished their set so I'll give em that .
Coral fang is a 10/10 album.
Didn't know the whole age thing about her and Tim. Crazy
Fuck that! I love Brody and I love the distillers
im from uk,and id guess 99% of the general public here and the us ,aint got a clue who the fuck she is in the 1st place...(punk raspy voice and a good arse...can play guitar a bit)
Brody Dahl was never the most hated woman in the world, and exploring your musical influences isn't "selling out" - it's called evolving
i love Coral fang.. so if its good and its still punk rock.. Fahk off
Easy pal. Imagine everyone had to have the same opinion
@@danframpt0n right back at ya friend.. and dont call me pal ok buddy..lol
