A lot of people complain that this kind of music is under-appreciated these days and that music has "devolved" in past century, but this couldn't be further from the truth. The music of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and countless other great composers, during their time, was actually heard by only a tiny, minuscule audience of a highly exclusive social elite. The rest (commoners) listened to plain old folk music or no music at all. Today, as you can see right here on youtube, these composers have reached millions of people! Haydn wouldn't have even dreamed of such a large audience. Classical music is only thriving during times like these.
The lower class people had beautiful music too back then, it was just more simple. There is nothing positive to be said about the mainstream taste of today's world.
In the olden days peasants listened to good old rock and roll but they didn't know it was rock and roll yet cause they played it on fiddles and harpichords.
Mozart's teacher was his own father, Leopold, a professional musician and composer. Mozart's family lived in and around Salzburg, Austria, but Haydn spent most of his time living and working on the Hungarian estate of his employers, the Esterhazy family. Actually Beethoven was briefly a pupil of Haydn.
So relaxing and quieting of our spirit. I wonder if humankind will ever return to a time of civilized society. Wishing all appreciative listeners love and light from our magnificent Universe!
music is a miracle. when i think that hundreds of years ago a man sat down and composed this music, and people appreciated it, it makes me feel good about humanity
It really is insane thinking like that. Makes you question the universe and all its time. Imagine, almost the entirety of humanity's musical achievement is captured in this small box, easily accessible to anyone willing to open it and witness its stunning perplexity and beauty. Composers during Haydn's time could not have been able to imagine that such manipulation of matter is possible, let alone understand the idea of such a thing. The interconnectedness amazes me and drives me to my intellectual limits.
Absolutely love this music - glad that so many people also appreciate it so we can have access to beautiful music like this on the internet. A genius composer

Haydn was an inspired musician who wrote music the way he did due to this supernatural gift he received graciously from the Father of Lights, the Great Redeemer! His music is heart-rendingly beautiful.
I fully believe that it was God's Hand at work in Haydn's life that inspired him to write such wonderful music... How could anyone hear Haydn or Mozart or Beethoven or Bach and NOT think that God inspired these incredible men?
Love Haydn. Love classical music although not its technicalities. Don't know why I love classical music. It is one thing that makes me believe firmly in God There has to be God when 'man' can compose such Divine music.

Perhaps 1 (and a bit) out of 3: Haydn had nothing to do with the birth of the symphony, a father by definition being essential at the point of conception 👎 Mozart and Haydn were great friends from about 1783 when they first met, until Haydn left for England at the end of 1790, Mozart dying whilst Haydn was away 👍 Haydn taught Beethoven counterpoint - a form of musical grammar - for about 14 months between his two long visits to England; these were the lessons Beethoven was talking about when he said that he ‘…learned nothing from Haydn’ 👎❓
Boa noite. Estou certo? Saudações do Brasil.

A superb craftsman who laid down the form of the symphonyfior others to elaborate upon. I played some of his symphonies arranged for piano duet with my teacher many years ago. I remember them, and her, Mrs Peggy Williams, fondly.

Georg Friedrich Handel, Antonio Lucio Vivaldi, Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin, Johann Sebastian Bach, Franz Joseph Haydn & Wilhelm Richard Wagner will be always my favourite classical composers. GOD save the classic music!!!
The dude is such a damn genius he made 4 pencil holders in his hair to not waste time composing. Legend has it he would use up all the four pencils in one day. Hope you pass on this wonderful and absolutely 100% true anecdote :/
Pure joy the music Hayden played.... artist share the time ... of life lived .... the remember ... of the time....... as it was....... so life goes ...... one step at a TIME........
this is soooooooo lovely! i listen to it over and over again, it always makes my day :) it goes well in the morning with the early sun and it makes its effect in the evening, too :) i always get a light sleep after listening to Haydn!!!
Haydn, as the only composer of a comparable stature to Mozart, was the only one who could effectively challenge and stimulate him, something that was mutual. Mozart’s response to Haydn’s string quartets Opus 33 being the most obvious case of this - he wrote his own six ‘Haydn’ quartets dedicated to his friend. There are lots more such as modelling his Symphony 25 on Haydn’s Symphony 39 - and that was about ten years before they met! The extraordinary friendship between the two composers went some way beyond ‘influence’.
As a child we had many 'Best of' albums but for which, I might not have known Hayden: He deserves more attention, and you can hear him behind so much else! Hayden was also famous for making Bach better known. Mozart was known to be grateful for that!
When entering the world of classical music people love Mozart. When being in last phase of enjoying classical music people come to love Haydn and understand he is truly a great genius of music.
a NEW Best of Haydn collection? Ask and you shall be given 😉

Great, fantastic and immortal Joseph Haydn!!! Respect forever!!!
My favorite composer of the Classical period!
a great one but Bach still the roots of MOZART HAYDN etc

I always cry listening to this video. Haydn is the best of all the best !
Haydn is the best!
This is best music in the world🎻🎹

The dude is such a damn genius he made 4 pencil holders in his hair to not waste time composing. Legend has it he would use up all the four pencils in one day. Hope you pass on this wonderful and absolutely 100% true anecdote :/
+Vlad Levitt I like how Haydyn stayed classy even until his death, always very proper and gentlemanly.

this is soooooooo lovely! i listen to it over and over again, it always makes my day :) it goes well in the morning with the early sun and it makes its effect in the evening, too :) i always get a light sleep after listening to Haydn!!!
The most admired by and an influence to my adored Mozart, as far as I know
Haydn, as the only composer of a comparable stature to Mozart, was the only one who could effectively challenge and stimulate him, something that was mutual.
Quel bonheur d'écouter HAYDN!
Listend to everything in one go. Loved it. Thank you.
Instant optimism! Haydn is a tonic for the soul.
...whoa!!! Another monster in music. My highest compliment (monster) to an artist at the given moment that moves me profoundly!!!
When entering the world of classical music people love Mozart. When being in last phase of enjoying classical music people come to love Haydn and understand he is truly a great genius of music.
