Speed? In this World? It's more likely than you'd think Edit: yes, ICED sabotaged you by even bringing up hunter story. You still went gamer mode on it though
25:50 Not different in Downpour; in fact, you can complete Expedition goals in broken shelters, e.g. store X items in a shelter. (Not complete as in "shelter to complete the run", obviously!)
This vid inspired to do a hunter speedrun as well, and got a time of 1h 16 mins, but i forgor to bring the neuron to moon and only remembered it after passing the guardians 💀💀
So, what I'm interested in is what are your keys that you use for speed running? I have thought about speed running this game for a while I have always used a controller since I played on switch until this year, I got it on steam so now I am trying to figgier out the best buttons for speed running. (Sorry if this was a long comment but I love your videos and I am glad that you are starting speed running the game you love you have introduced me to Rain World and I have started to spread the love of Rain World to others.)
It's a cheesy answer, but it's true - whatever you're more confortable with. We have many people in the leaderboards that use many different control styles, be it on controller or keyboard!
Controller and keyboard should both be good for speedruns, although maybe a tad on the keyboards side as its easier to do some more complex moves although idk how much they're really even used in speedruns, like do people do crawl turn vaults and stuff I can't even comprehend how that works lol. But for controller every move until the eihop and probably more are doable consistently, so if you're not even used to playing any games on a keyboard controller is probably the better pick but you could alway try. But I personally use WASD for movement instead of arrow keys and J, K and L for grab throw and jump in that order, and I used to have the map on spacebar but im giving the fastroll button mod a try as it's as far im aware allowed in speedruns to bridge the gap between controllers ability to roll faster than on a keyboard. On a controller the only buttons I'd give a thought for is having it so you can press throw and jump effectively at the same time as some things benefit from it, like the throwboost wallpounce in their video. Also there is an odd tech called corpselaunching where if you grab throw and jump at the same time while walking into a heavy corpse you get launched really high up but probably rather useless.
Best ecosystem? Uh huh… Sure: Idiotic/falling lizors Vultures slamming into the ground for no apparent reason Lizors spinning stupidly Literally stupid scavengers Overseers being dumb Pebbs neuron flies getting stuck in Rivs campaign Raindeer not stopping to pick you up even though you didn’t startle it Need I say more?
The falling lizards may be unintended (actually unsure), but I have no issue with it. I do think it happens too frequently, but it still shows that the animals can also make mistakes. If anything it solidifies the ecosystem. Vultures slamming are funni. Lizards spinning is a major downside though, especially because it breaks immersion and can essentially prevent progression through a certain path. Absolutely never had any issues with scavs, not sure where the criticism comes from, I have played vanilla for 380h too so idk, I have seen clips though. Not familiar with the Riv stuff, and the Reindeer I genuinely don’t mind. The raindeer aren’t there specifically for you, but even then I never have had issues with Raindeer after the downpour setting to improve their AI. Also don’t want to place spore puffs close to a wall and where their legs still have them standing instead of sitting.
Now do it blindfolded

RIP Meat Shield the pup 2025 to 2025 he was born to die 💔20:12
wallbounces are the best small addition in downpour imo
