This is during the 2nd 3 Peat. MJ was not Super Athletic and he didn't have to be. He understood the game on a different level, one could argue that it was spiritual. Effortless is the word that comes to mind when you look at how he played in this game.
This wasn't about Maxwell, this was about everybody hailing Jerry Stackhouse as the next Jordan. MJ told him he got lucky because he dropped only 48 being that Stack was from North Carolina as well.
Exactly. Stack also had some things to say and that MJ wasn’t that hard to play against in the off season scrimmages and apparently had beat him a few times.
@@mohamedel-ayoubi9572I read that too. I guess the former UNC players get together and scrimmage over the summers in Chapel Hill and as we all know, Jordan took it personally 😅
Notice how on most shots, they were in position for the offensive rebound, then watch a game from today's NBA when the players are hanging out by the 3pt line, including the big men! Very little chance for an offensive rebound. The 3pt shot is great but it has become the whole game! What you see here is great basketball!
Today's game is like watching YMCA basketball. Everyone just stands around. One person has the ball. Attempts to drive one-on-one. If he gets to the rim, lhe'll try to lay it up. If he doesn't, he'll kick it out, and then the next player will either do the exact same thing, or throw up a three. It's boring as hell and has ruined the game. Zero defense. Trash.
@@thegrandpencil4374 Thank you! I've been saying this for awhile. Everyone seems to be playing for their next contract, so it's like 5 independent contractors on the floor. The only thing missing is the term, "who got next!"
I'm pretty sure the rebounds in a perimeter centric era are mostly long rebounds, so the offensive rebound % is offset (still more offensive rebounds in the past tho). But in this pace and space era it would actually hurt for a team to heavily contest for offensive rebounds because any team now is a threat in transition, unless you have a strong offensive rebounder, or generally a team that is both speedy and strong in rebound (pretty hard and rare). Most adopt one or none because of the threat of transition. Both are great basketball, just different eras.

This is why Houston wouldn't have beat Chicago those 2 years. Jordan turns it on when it counts, and Mad Max was way too competitive to *NOT* talk trash to MJ.
Not only that. But we never got to see the greatest possible version of the Bulls. Which would have been Scottie, Horace, Kukoc, BJ, Kerr, Longley, all in their primes .. . PLUS Jordan!
I love how you always hear from Bronsexuals that he couldn’t shoot the 3, what they don’t realise is that his % dropped because he wasn’t afraid to shoot it with a few seconds from anywhere to score before the end of quarters. He definitely could shoot it (apart from the 3 point contest 😬)
true and even Kevin Durant was one miss away from matching Jordan's 5 made with 6 in one of his contest outings, and the funny part is I've even seen Lebron fans call KD a sniper. Most players today try to avoid throwing up long 3s at the end of quarters to protect their percentages.
We have establisded that Jordan has eyes behind his back =p .... and his clutchness was really on the dot, he knows when to evade the defense and go straight for the shot while he stabilizes his foot steps... G.O.A.T for sure
I'd put him top 2 in dunking ability top 3 in shooting ability top 2 in athletic ability top 3 in defense ability top 3 in floor court presence of everyone #1 at his best #1 best player of all time and only compared to other sport athletes such as Tom Brady and Fedor Emelianenko.
