    Me again 😂, I’d like to compliment you and the guitarist on the nostalgically Goan choice of music. To my ear the harmony sounds like an Indo-Portuguese rendition of Góddachó Pão from Amchem Noxib. It’s the absence of the chorus that has me wondering though … Playing Goan background music goes excellently with cooking Goan cuisine; the one appealing to the heart, the other to the appetite

    Florency, what a novel recipe! My first time seeing a cucumber cake, the cane gód didn’t sound Goan either … until your line towards the very end, that it resembles Goan Baat, which to me meant it isn’t a traditional Goan recipe. Worth a try

    • @FlorencyDias
      @FlorencyDias  Рік тому +1

      Hello Felix! This cucumber cake is not very famous, but it is made by many Goans. Some (Saraswat Goans) traditionally use Rice Flour/finely ground rice to make this cake. The point you've made about the cane jaggery is an interesting one. It's got me thinking too.
      Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this-hope you'll give this a try :)
      Have a great weekend ✨

      @@FlorencyDias Thanks for your prompt and in-depth reply Florency. You’ve certainly piqued my interest - something novel to try out (as soon as I regain access to my kitchen-under-renos) I’m intrigued by the cooking method, having always been curious to know how we Goans managed our baking prior to the availability of contemporary ovens, other than our traditional, caring method of baking Bebinca. I’ve had considerable success with Bolo de Bática and with Bolo Podre, in regular ovens, of course. Devu tuka borem korun

    • @FlorencyDias
      @FlorencyDias  Рік тому +1

      Hello Munira! Thanks for your question, and someone else has asked the same.
      This cake didn't need any baking powder or soda. It doesn't really rise as conventional cakes do, but the Semolina swells a little on its own giving it a coarse crumb texture.
      Have a great weekend 💫

      Hello Glen :)
      Yes, it can be baked. I've written the details in the description box but here it is for you: in a preheated oven, middle rack at 180°C for 20-30 minutes.
      Thanks, and hope this helps ✨

      @FlorencyDias  Рік тому +1

      Hello Flavia :)
      This can be stored at room temperature for about a week. I usually keep it covered and place it inside my oven. At least once a day, uncover the cake to ‘air’ it a little for 10-15 minutes.
      Thanks for your interest in this recipe, and have a blessed weekend 💕
