I'm kind of, of the opinion that depending on the type of "apocalypse-challenge" that you're doing (Zombie apocalypse; alien invasion...etc.) would probably have the rabbithole venues still around. If you're talking "nuclear apocalypse", it would probably start with a complete rebuild, no rabbitholes whatsoever - everything you need would have to have been put into a bunker before-hand. If you're wanting nuclear apocalypse, you might want to look at "Les Sims 3, Sunset Died" by SimCookie - no rabbitholes, you have to start EVERYTHING from scratch.
Oh right. Yeah they just look cool. Some of them have lots built to the challenge's standards with none of the restrictions lifted. Rattlesnake Ridge does, however it should be noted that I experienced a lot of lag with that world, and at least one other person I know of has similar problems. (It's a big part of why I haven't finished the challenge series I've been posting here.)
It sounds like it might be something to do with your computer's memory but I can't really diagnose a problem like this without a lot more information. If it's just sims 3 you're having trouble with, you're better off visiting the tech support forums over at thesims3.com and searching for your problem there to be honest.

I downloaded the Rattlesnake ridge and while loading the town it says the sims 3 has stopped working. Help?
Is it the sims 3 launcher or the game itself when launched? Either way I would uninstall and remove the file for the world.
It's the game itself I think.
the first and third one omg hahahaha
Sorry?
