He’s talking about old school tours there. Ireland at least are doing a kind of old school tour in a few weeks in NZ. Three tests v the All Blacks and two matches against the Māori. Should be great.
I was at athletic park in 87 for Zinnies Debut against Argentina. (Bus trip with the Wairarapa under 11s I think) One of my favorite childhood memories.
Met Zinzan at a Pretoria Holiday Inn during the 1995 world cup...the Irish team were also in the same hotel. Was easy back then to meet and mingle with the Icons.
I’m not a kiwi, but I think it’s generally accepted throughout the rugby world that something happened to the All Blacks on the run up to that game. Given that South Africa should have been knocked out in the semi-final when Benazzi scored, which was inexplicably not given. And also judging by the complete lack of respect and integrity shown by their coaching staff - threatening and blackmailing an international referee in the BIL series and subsequently intimidating the officials for the remainder of the series. So it’s not beyond the realms of impossibility that NZ were poisoned, as they were a far better side than SA at the time. 1995 was about politics, nothing more - SA were never going to be allowed to lose.
While I normally have great appreciation for life outside of rugby of current and former players, there are some of us who could care less to hear about Lord Mike Tindall's royal adventures. We are not all upper class old Etonian, aspiring members of the English aristocracy like Alex Payne. More content which is rugby related or even vaguely rugby related, such as information on Alex Payne's rugby career at Eton and the University of Edinburgh..?
What selective memories you have when mentioning club teams……the most dominant; the most innovative two club teams worldwide over the past 40 yrs - the Canterbury Crusaders and the ACT Brumbies didn’t even get a mention. Surely I must have missed something…..
guys...I love Tinds...but ive switched this off at 5 mins. seeing a Kiwi saying 'that' made me wanna puke frankly. im not anti royal....... but that was over the line
